Jacobx007: Very pathetic I must tell you, just look at how poverty is dealing with Africans yet no tangible help from the West, but to give out millions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine is no problem. How much was Ukraine receiving in 2019, 2020 ? Zilch. If you want war aid, you need to start a war too! |

While Americans opinions are divided on Ukraine Both Democrat and Republican are fully aligned on anti-China stands and the hawks in both parties are placing immense pressure on Biden. There is something the US will never overlook, that is its economic interest. It will go to war to protect it. China is so smart that it didn't take the Taiwan trap. |

Truth is you can't keep adjoining forever You are ignorant. There is no "moral ground" in law, it is either you violate the law or not. Politics › Re: Court Invalidates NBC's powers to Impose Sanctions, Fines On Broadcast Stations by ivolt: 2:03pm On May 10, 2023 |
linearity: The real question is....does LASTMA, ROAD SAFETY truly have the power to impound and impose fines on Nigerians?
Nigerians are just taking these things lying down because going to Court is expensive and consume a lot of time. Until a Court of Competent jurisdiction has adjudicate on these questions, it is premature to conclude that these agencies despite what they do everyday truly have such powers.
A Federal High Court had previous ruled against FRSC that they do not have the power to impose fines and that court followed the same logic as above that, they must pass through the Court to be able to do so and that, they cannot be Judge and Jury in their own case.
https://www.icirnigeria.org/court-rules-against-imposition-of-fine-by-frsc-for-offences/
Gradually, Nigerians are fighting back and one block at a time the system seems to be sanitizing itself....Impunity can not run amok forever. Actually, it is attention-seeking judges who make such pronouncement. There is no country where sundry offenses are mandatorily serviced through the courts. Traffic cops routinely issue out tickets for over-speeding or wrong parking. Environmental watchdogs impose fine on erring companies too. It is up to an offender to challenge the fine and claim innocence rather than challenge the power of regulatory bodies to impose fine. I expect the appeal and supreme court to do the needful and failing to do that, the national assembly will make the adequate explicit amendment. What is the use of a regulatory body that cannot impose penalties? |
Politics › Re: Court Invalidates NBC's powers to Impose Sanctions, Fines On Broadcast Stations by ivolt: 1:50pm On May 10, 2023 |
All these baby judges making spurious pronouncement. He should have declared all NBC activities illegal. He shouldn't even stop there, all other regulatory bodies should be declared illegal too because they are not a court.
Each time an infraction is discovered, they should first ask the court if they can investigate, then after that ask the court if they can impose fine on the erring body. SMH. |

sonature1: iRev or no IRev, the major issue in that case was over-voting and that's totally wrong. Allowing over-voting to continue means allowing INEC to negatively influence the process.
The judiciary should start calling for a rerun in places where there's over-voting so know the true winners of guber elections. Where this may not apply is in presidential elections.
Congratulations to Adeleke. I hope stakeholders learn from all this. How many reruns will be enough per election? 2, 5 , 10 ? If politician knows for certain that over voting will truncate opponents victory, they will start planning for it. The courts has to draw the line somewhere and look at the margin of victory. |

He obviously deliberately sabotaged the process. He was not a compatible donor. If his initial plan was just to sabotage the process, he wouldn't go to the hospital, he would head straight to the police. He ran away from Ekwe's home after and not before the test when he realized he is going back home. Note that it was Ekwe's doctor that was coordinating everything, if he sensed any sign of dissent, he would have been discharged the boy before seeing any doctor because he knows the dangers of British legal system to organ purchasers. |

Numerouno94: I don't know of Nigeria. Buh go to Indonesia and see Nigerians selling their kidney for 30 to 50million naira. The truth is those who go to Indonesia for kidney have exhausted all their options and couldn't find a local match or their time is running out. So Indonesia kidney is priced at international rate. Local kidneys are more cheaper. |

It was worse when they discovered he was not a "match". They now left him totally high and dry!
If the boy had been given £10k, or even 2m when returning back to Nigeria, he probably would have come back quietly.
"There's no peace" my God has said "the wicked" Do you even know the meaning of exploitation? When you board a plane or hire a house mover, do you have any other interest of the pilot or driver beside the service they are to perform? I don't understand this kind of entitlement. He wasn't a match, how was he used and dump. |

GeneralPula: For instance, it was at the police station that they asked him if he was paid money and he said yes he was paid N270,000. When the police checked the WhatsApp chats between Ekweremadu and Dr. Obeta they realized that Ekweremadu actually paid 4.5 million for Obeta to pay to David. But Obeta only paid David N270,000 and pocketed the rest.
Imagine this. Why would the Dr offered the boy 270k? Both 4.5m & 270k are useless! A kidney is nothing less than 35M !
They attempted to Jonze the Boy & he fought back! Nah real Guy he be!
Nah. Only a dumb person will pay 45M for a Nigerian kidney. The asking price is around 3M if you know where to look. |
