Can anyone today believe we import garbage sent into high sea looking for buyers, used infected clothes, plastic rice etc.
Africans, our Salvation is within us here in Africa, not in foreign countries. Even the common man that trade on each of these items fight to protect them. From your topic, I had assumed I will be reading scholarly article on economics of floating exchange. But I was disappointed, you are appear to be one of those who believes that pan-Africanism and emotional appeal is an economic theory. Please tell, what is the benefit of selling crude oil to South Africa over selling it to China? And if you are SA business man dealing in arms, will you prefer to accept the Naira over Dollar or Yuan for your sales to Nigeria for example? Despite the rhetorics from BRICS, Russia refuse to accept Indian Rupees as payment for the oil it sells to India. It prefers Dollars or Euros. This is in spite of the large size and stability of India's economy. This is to show you that economics is a cold heart discipline, nations do what they can to help themselves. Before you reply, go and do your research and come up with a list of countries that has escaped poverty by just trading with its neighbor. The productive capacity of a country should decide its exchange rate. Exchange rate should not be a bragging right. |

Education › Re: ASUU, ASUP Express Doubts Over Student Loan by ivolt: 11:05am On Jun 13, 2023 |
The student loan bill is a scheme by the government to stop sponsoring tertiary education and end all education subsidy. Students will access loan at the true value of their school fees. Which will be at the same level or very close to private schools such as Covenant. The biggest beneficiary of the bill will be school management who can now independently determine how much to charge. The era of cheap tertiary education is over if this bill is fully implemented.
It may also mark the end of national ASUU because ASUU can no longer fight the government for any policy enacted by their individual university. |

Politics › Re: Lagos Indigenes Against New Law To Protect Them by ivolt: 10:59am On Jun 10, 2023 |
BloomingDale: Let it be known that NONE of the CHARLATAN usurpers in the Lagos State House of Assembly, currently contemplating a law that will infringe on the the right to own property guaranteed by the Constitution is a bonafide indigenous Lagosian.
As I once told Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2003, on the Monday after Saheed Elegushi's wedding at LTV 8, Land is not our "crude oil" in Lagos State. Trade is. The value of our land is directly traceable to the ability of people from around the world to set up shop, trade and prosper in Lagos.
No true indigene of Lagos will contemplate such a law, as it will actually affect us negatively, through an exodus that will devalue our properties.
The charlatans proposing it are non-indigenes that have consistently rigged, murdered and maimed their way into power since 1999 and have held the Indigenes hostage since then.
If anyone was ever in doubt, the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections of March 18, 2023, along with the 5 murders, 28 maimings and 4 blindings of people who voted against the APC cleared those doubts sufficiently. Tinubu and his gang have NEVER won an election in Lagos State
It has always been snatched, grabbed and spirited away by gangsters, crooks and murderers, some even flown in from abroad!
I pray the judiciary finally find their liver and put a stop to this impunity, or any hope of a decent government is gone from Nigeria PERMANENTLY.

Masterviolence: I can see the much anticipated counteroffensive has began and there are significant signs of failure.
In the military perspective, a counteroffensive can only be successful when it falls into one of these categories: 1. When the counteroffensive comes as an element of surprise. 2. When the enemy have no capacity (i.e armaments and manpower) to halt or destroy the offensive.
Without surprise, Russia do not fall under the listed categories. Time is not on the side of the Ukrainians, infact time is working against them, because while zelensky was rallying around for weapons for this offensive, the Russians were building up defensive positions.
If we were to play along the western narratives, one would've thought that this counteroffensive will be a walk in the park for the Ukrainians but NO, it is a walk into the trap for them. The Russians still hold superiority not only on armaments and tactics, but on strategic implementation of manpower and resources. I saw a video of Ukrainian APCs and tanks rolling down to the Frontline without air cover, is that not a suicide mission?
Imagine fighting a land war with an enemy that can strike from air, land and sea. A wise man once said 'pick on whom you can fight'. Have you ever stood for anything in your life? The soviet union lost 20 million men to defeat Germany. I am sure your "wise man" would have advised they capitulate and become slave to Hitler. BTW, Ukraine didn't pick who it can fight, the fight was brought to its doorstep. |

There is only one way for fuel price to fall and that is determined by international politics and bodies such as OPEC.
