I’m trying to qualify for CEC. Based on what I read, Noc C doesn’t qualify for CEC which is customer service. That’s why I’m trying to see if it fits into administrative roles

Please don’t tweak anything except your employer is willing to stick their neck out for you & it’s actually what you do at work. CEC isn’t like FSW; CEC is ircc playground & they do a very good job when it comes to verifying any Canadian work experience claims.

I guess you don’t know what a ‘loophole’ means, cos i see no other reason for your harsh response to a harmless comment i made. Every system has inadequacies or flaws that people can exploit. Over time, these flaws are corrected to prevent people from gaming the system.

By the way, why are you sounding as if you are the only one that knows about this. “ I know Naija people “ why are you on nairaland if you are sceptical about Naija people? Cos nairaland is a gathering of Naija people.

People like you are the reason why some of the pioneers of this Canada travel thread no longer come here.

This is very doable, I did it and I knw quite a no of people who did It after me. We got our passports back yesterday and we all received Copr. I don't really want to talk so much about it so people don't see it as a means to an end, cs I knw my Naija people so ircc don't eventual change it. Its actually a legal right of an applicant to change spouse from unaccompanied to Accompanied and I learnt this from a popular Canadian consultant on YouTube. You just av to do it properly!!!!

There are loopholes in the system. When it becomes obvious that people are using this to game the system IRCC will eventually close the loophole. Who knows who they will use as scapegoat ‍♂️

Sometimes, we Nigerians overdo things, even when we chicken, we chicken out amazingly, that explains why we rarely see JR from Nigerians even when we've submitted the near perfect applications.

Well, I was expecting comments like this but to set things straight... There's nothing wrong or worth hiding about the program, this is a legitimate program and it is a course waiver for onward progression, it has to do with waiving courses that has already been written in your previous degree (Bsc) in relation to the diploma being awarded (ND). If you meet all waiver requirements, you'll be issued the diploma for a progressive admission into the HND program, hence why is called preHND program. If you don't meet all waiver requirements, you'll be given list of courses you're to take, which you then decide to take or not to take. And the breakdown of the payment includes ND1, ND2 tuition fees, etc which you and every other student pays. So how is the program trying to game/bypass the system.?

I think y'all should read on course waivers, all educational institutions offer it one way or the other. When I wrote the school, got all the details and got to know the program is legit, I was surprised why most people don't know about it earlier, it's all because of comments like this, jumping into conclusions about things without making any research. I just shared a legit and vital information for free. It'll be very useful for some people and those that doesn't find it useful. Sorry ooh!

Actually, you're wrong & this is illegal ( just wait & see what the relevant bodies eg WES will do once they find out what the school is doing). There is a max to the number of courses/credits a school can waive and there is a min number of credits a student must earn before a certificate can be awarded.

Even if a candidate already has a degree in say business mgmt and they wanna enrol in ND business mgmt, Schools can not just collect fees, waive 100% credits & award certificates. What the school could do in this situation is to waive like 50% credits & make the candidate to sit one or two semesters before awarding diploma certificate or give the candidate direct admission into HND without awarding diploma certificate.

So if the school does 100% waiver and issues diploma certificate without the student sitting for any exam how does it generate transcripts for evaluation? They have to make up some figures i guess.

The school is just preying on desperate/unsuspecting people to make some easy cash.

LANDING GIST.
LONG READ.

The cold is better experienced than imagined, at an average of -28C since we came in, it has been tough but interestingly the Children loves it. Only 1 day has been very good at -5C.

Congratulations & welcome to Alberta. It has been bitterly cold in Alberta since the middle of Dec. It’s expected to warm up in the coming days but be prepared for more cold cos January and February are usually the coldest months.

Settling in is easier when you land in the summer/spring time. It gives you time to acclimatize & you get to meet more people & go to more places for job hunting.

Can't believe people's desperation to relocate is making them fall for such obvious scams. A simple google search should help you to know the real process for getting a job and processing your permit for Canada but too many people have been blinded by their desperation. Let's all be careful please.

Bro this isn’t desperation, it’s foolishness!! It baffles me how a grownup that spent years in the university would fall for this kind of scam. Dumba$$ everywhere ‍♂️

While I agree with the other parts of your comments, family reunification does include siblings. It falls under the extended family unification.

I've read of siblings granted visa this year even before the new portal was released; they may/may not require written authorization.
Ofcourse there's a high approval rate for parents application vs siblings.

Check the profiles of those approved to unite with extended family members or for tourism. They make sure only those that will not abscond or overstay are approved. People that are well established in their home countries. People with juicy jobs or businesses, extensive travel history.

Immediate family unification is their priority. The inclusion of extended family imo, is a money grab opportunity for ircc. Millions of people apply but only a small percentage is approved
Travel / Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by iwinosajack: 10:50am On Dec 11, 2021
Family unification- according to IRCC definition of a family- doesn’t include siblings.

Don’t you guys think it’s an uphill battle trying to convince a VO that you want to fly thousands of miles to Canada to visit a sibling or as a tourist in this pandemic, and in the middle of winter when most tourist attractions are closed. Canada isn’t a major tourist destination. You must be well grounded in your home country before such visa can be approved.

Spouses, children and parents are their priority; and that’s what family unification was meant for

Please my good people, I need urgent answer to this. A friend just got married in November and want to add his spouse, he submitted his application in October this year. He called IRCC and was told his score will be recalculated since he will be adding spouse. I argued with him that that is not true that from all I have seen and heard on this platform - Score will not be recalculated for someone that married after AOR and add spouse.

Please I need someone that add wife recently to please signify and confirm if score was recalculated.

Please this will save a life.

Thanks.

Call center guys know nothing about how applications are assessed. The only advantage they have over me & you is the access they have to view ur file. Getting married & adding ur spouse post aor doesn't affect ur score

This is not true. Ircc have a fixed rate for currency exchange and it's not up to the "285" you claim which is the current exchange rate. I know a lot of people who applied with upto 100k 150k even 200k difference from the current proof of fund and they had no adr.

Ircc does not have a fixed exchange rate. They use prevailing official exchange rates at any given time

Thanks. But assuming one is successful, can one just keep his wife and kids in Canada and still work in Nigeria for a few years before joining them.

Yes you can; but you have to meet the residency obligations in order to renew ur pr or apply for citizenship. You Must be physically present in Canada for 1,095 days ( 3 yrs) in every 5 yrs. There are some exceptions though

That's not relevant to PR decision if the applicant satisfies the requirements. However, should paid study leave count as work experience? My take.. if employed to undertake a research Masters, then it may qualify. Otherwise, you can't have job description as a grad assistant different from your current study. Here the Masters was even done in another school which could call to question the acceptability of the job experience, School "A" may not employ you, and your supposed work experience (Masters) from School "B"

Did i say it is “relevant to PR decision “? No! What i am saying is that the vo will scrutinize the reference letter from the HOD to make sure it’s from the school authorities.

Hello everyone, can my Msc education timeline be the same period for the 3 years work experience I am using. I am actually a Graduate Assistant in a federal university and I acquired my MSc in another university where I studied for 3 years. I left for postgraduate studies 5months after my appointment. Can I claim 3 years of work experience in the university despite the fact that I was running my MSc in another country. My HOD can give me the work reference.

Were u working as graduate assistant & studying part time at the other school

The question is not whether you were paid during the period but did u also perform the duties?? Had it been that you got ur msc from the same school u are working at or within the same country, that can easily fly.

Mind u, the vo is gonna scrutinize the reasons why an organization that spent so much money to train u (with the expectation that you will come back to work for them) would actively support u to become a pr in another country immediately you returned from study leave. That scrutiny will go beyond ur HOD.

I’m not expressly saying that it’s not gonna work; but that it’s a long shot

Good afternoon.
Please I have a question.
I am meant to land in Canada once it’s possible to do so, although I have not been able to submit passport. I will have a baby next month and my medicals expire in August.
My question is will my husband be able to apply for a visa to accompany me land since I will be traveling with a toddler and an infant ( hubby wasn’t included in the application).
What kind of visa would he need? Has anyone done this before, how did you go about it?
Also once issued COPR, can it be extended if the reason is valid.
Thank you

If your baby come before you land, you can not travel with the new born baby just like that. You have to inform IRCC about the baby. You would be required to add the baby to your application. If your copr has been issued, it would be canceled & a new one would be given to you to include the new baby(except you don't want to go with the baby now & sponsor him/her in future). You may have to increase ur pof balance to make provisions for the addition.
Your hubby may be able to get a visit Visa to accompany you; although, ircc prefers spouses of canadians & pr holders to apply for pr instead of trv

Perhaps you missed it.
I advice people to stay clear of Quebéc during this journey unless you did TEF. The rejection message I got said 'I did not have the necessary requirements to reside there'. Obviously French speaking ability!

Quebec doesn’t participate in express entry system. The province of Quebec has its own immigration system. Even if you can speak french & have TEF, ur application will be refused if you applied thru express entry & you intend to live in Quebec

Good morning guys, please I really need y’alls advice. I’m about to start out on my canadian journey but given the present status of things, my score is at 430 -440 and I think that’s low compared to what’s obtainable now. My plan is to get an additional degree, study hard for d highest band in ielts and my score will be at 470 but that’d be a year from now as I intend to do a pgd...

My question is, should I just go ahead and enter d pool now and hope for a provincial nomination as an administrative assistant

Can my husband and I open two separate EE profiles hoping for provincial nomination on either of them. He’s an Engineer.

Or should we just wait till next year when scores will be higher. Please please advice . Thank you

Yeah, you & ur husband can create two separate profiles. You as principal applicant in one & ur husband as principal applicant in the other one. But you have to cancel one after you get nomination or ITA

Hello, I would like to ask if the embassy at Lagos is still allowing applicants to come for biometrics at this time. I want to submit my hubby’s application online but I don’t know if they are allowing people to come for biometrics due to covid. Your response would be appreciated

Thank you

Check VFS website for info. I doubt they would open their doors to the public if the lockdown is still in effect in Lagos

Ok, thank you so much. A quick question please:
if I get my PR whilst in Canada as a visitor, will I be required to still go out and activate it at the border? Will I also require a US Visa to do that ?

If your passport & copr are sent to you in Canada, you would be required to book appointment at ircc office for landing. Alternatively, you can do flagpoling at the border if you cant wait for an appointment. Just go to any Canada/USA border, tell US immigration that you want to flagpole, they would put a flagpole stamp on ur passport & send you back to Canada, you don’t need a US visa for this.
If you applied from Nigeria, your ppr would most likely come via Ghana visa office. In that case, you would have to be in Nigeria.

Good morning house, please I have a question,
I got married in Nov 2019 and I have a visitor visa till May 2021. He has a PR and we submitted a PR application in April.
We just heard about the open work permit and we were wondering if it is possible to submit an open work permit pending the approval of the PR. I intend to join him fully in October.

@Mysine
It’s better you wait for the approval of your pr application. Ircc rarely approves TRV applications (visitor’s visas, work permits) for spouses of Canadians or PR holders. I guess you got your visitor visa before you got married to a pr holder
Travel / Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by iwinosajack: 10:57pm On Jun 01, 2020
Since you have a visitor visa, go to Canada and apply for a work permit when you get there. You will get it much faster that way.

@Culkid @Mysine
Submitting a work permit application inside Canada as a visitor does not make the process faster. As a visitor, you still have to use the form “ application for work permit made outside Canada “ the application would be sent to lagos for processing & if approved, you would be required to exit Canada to activate the work permit at the border. Basically, it’s the same process as applying from Nigeria

[quote author=makano post=72847361]Application under active review = They are currently reviewing if you are eligible to study in Canada (Even tho Eligibility review has started on ur profile or not)i.e Ur finances and If the documents you submitted actually proofs to them if truly you are a genuine student or not.. Application under active Processing = They are currently doing a background check on you i.e Criminal records, Travel history to other countries(If you have any criminal records in the countries you have visited and also if you have at any point overstayed in those countries) e.t.c. Peace

I think Makano is right. Why would they waste their time doing background & criminality checks if you can not pass minimum eligibility requirements! When application is received, a junior officer does the eligibility review (the completeness of the application and if the PA meets minimum criteria) and then make recommendations e.g “PA appears to qualify/ PA doesn’t appear to qualify for visa. The application is then passed to a senior officer who does background checks and other stuff that goes with the processing of the file and thereafter makes a decision. I think a different dept does the criminality checks ( not 100% sure)

I would advise you to order for GCMS note, it shows you everything about your application. You would get to know the last time ur file was attended to & what the VO wrote on ur file. You can then address the concern(s) (if any) of the VO before they make final decision.
