Tvickie: Please don’t tweak anything except your employer is willing to stick their neck out for you & it’s actually what you do at work. CEC isn’t like FSW; CEC is ircc playground & they do a very good job when it comes to verifying any Canadian work experience claims. 2 Likes |

Remicynt: I guess you don’t know what a ‘loophole’ means, cos i see no other reason for your harsh response to a harmless comment i made. Every system has inadequacies or flaws that people can exploit. Over time, these flaws are corrected to prevent people from gaming the system. By the way, why are you sounding as if you are the only one that knows about this. “ I know Naija people “ why are you on nairaland if you are sceptical about Naija people? Cos nairaland is a gathering of Naija people. People like you are the reason why some of the pioneers of this Canada travel thread no longer come here. 8 Likes |

Afolavid: Actually, you're wrong & this is illegal ( just wait & see what the relevant bodies eg WES will do once they find out what the school is doing). There is a max to the number of courses/credits a school can waive and there is a min number of credits a student must earn before a certificate can be awarded. Even if a candidate already has a degree in say business mgmt and they wanna enrol in ND business mgmt, Schools can not just collect fees, waive 100% credits & award certificates. What the school could do in this situation is to waive like 50% credits & make the candidate to sit one or two semesters before awarding diploma certificate or give the candidate direct admission into HND without awarding diploma certificate. So if the school does 100% waiver and issues diploma certificate without the student sitting for any exam how does it generate transcripts for evaluation? They have to make up some figures i guess. The school is just preying on desperate/unsuspecting people to make some easy cash. 4 Likes |

sirabbey: Congratulations & welcome to Alberta. It has been bitterly cold in Alberta since the middle of Dec. It’s expected to warm up in the coming days but be prepared for more cold cos January and February are usually the coldest months. Settling in is easier when you land in the summer/spring time. It gives you time to acclimatize & you get to meet more people & go to more places for job hunting. 3 Likes |

OloriOfMontreal: Check the profiles of those approved to unite with extended family members or for tourism. They make sure only those that will not abscond or overstay are approved. People that are well established in their home countries. People with juicy jobs or businesses, extensive travel history. Immediate family unification is their priority. The inclusion of extended family imo, is a money grab opportunity for ircc. Millions of people apply but only a small percentage is approved |
Travel / Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by iwinosajack: 10:50am On Dec 11, 2021 |
Family unification- according to IRCC definition of a family- doesn’t include siblings. Don’t you guys think it’s an uphill battle trying to convince a VO that you want to fly thousands of miles to Canada to visit a sibling or as a tourist in this pandemic, and in the middle of winter when most tourist attractions are closed. Canada isn’t a major tourist destination. You must be well grounded in your home country before such visa can be approved. Spouses, children and parents are their priority; and that’s what family unification was meant for |

madakiagwom: Were u working as graduate assistant & studying part time at the other school The question is not whether you were paid during the period but did u also perform the duties?? Had it been that you got ur msc from the same school u are working at or within the same country, that can easily fly. Mind u, the vo is gonna scrutinize the reasons why an organization that spent so much money to train u (with the expectation that you will come back to work for them) would actively support u to become a pr in another country immediately you returned from study leave. That scrutiny will go beyond ur HOD. I’m not expressly saying that it’s not gonna work; but that it’s a long shot 3 Likes |

Temitee4: If your baby come before you land, you can not travel with the new born baby just like that. You have to inform IRCC about the baby. You would be required to add the baby to your application. If your copr has been issued, it would be canceled & a new one would be given to you to include the new baby(except you don't want to go with the baby now & sponsor him/her in future). You may have to increase ur pof balance to make provisions for the addition. Your hubby may be able to get a visit Visa to accompany you; although, ircc prefers spouses of canadians & pr holders to apply for pr instead of trv 4 Likes |

Mysine: If your passport & copr are sent to you in Canada, you would be required to book appointment at ircc office for landing. Alternatively, you can do flagpoling at the border if you cant wait for an appointment. Just go to any Canada/USA border, tell US immigration that you want to flagpole, they would put a flagpole stamp on ur passport & send you back to Canada, you don’t need a US visa for this. If you applied from Nigeria, your ppr would most likely come via Ghana visa office. In that case, you would have to be in Nigeria. |
Travel / Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by iwinosajack: 11:13pm On Jun 01, 2020 |
Mysine: @Mysine It’s better you wait for the approval of your pr application. Ircc rarely approves TRV applications (visitor’s visas, work permits) for spouses of Canadians or PR holders. I guess you got your visitor visa before you got married to a pr holder |
Travel / Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by iwinosajack: 10:57pm On Jun 01, 2020 |
Since you have a visitor visa, go to Canada and apply for a work permit when you get there. You will get it much faster that way. @Culkid @Mysine Submitting a work permit application inside Canada as a visitor does not make the process faster. As a visitor, you still have to use the form “ application for work permit made outside Canada “ the application would be sent to lagos for processing & if approved, you would be required to exit Canada to activate the work permit at the border. Basically, it’s the same process as applying from Nigeria |

[quote author=makano post=72847361]Application under active review = They are currently reviewing if you are eligible to study in Canada (Even tho Eligibility review has started on ur profile or not)i.e Ur finances and If the documents you submitted actually proofs to them if truly you are a genuine student or not.. Application under active Processing = They are currently doing a background check on you i.e Criminal records, Travel history to other countries(If you have any criminal records in the countries you have visited and also if you have at any point overstayed in those countries) e.t.c. Peace I think Makano is right. Why would they waste their time doing background & criminality checks if you can not pass minimum eligibility requirements! When application is received, a junior officer does the eligibility review (the completeness of the application and if the PA meets minimum criteria) and then make recommendations e.g “PA appears to qualify/ PA doesn’t appear to qualify for visa. The application is then passed to a senior officer who does background checks and other stuff that goes with the processing of the file and thereafter makes a decision. I think a different dept does the criminality checks ( not 100% sure) |

@ jnyuwa02 I would advise you to order for GCMS note, it shows you everything about your application. You would get to know the last time ur file was attended to & what the VO wrote on ur file. You can then address the concern(s) (if any) of the VO before they make final decision. |
