It's all about math, people. All about math. Simple equation: Chelsea > Arsenal thus Mikel > A. Song Haha, well that was for laughs. But in all honesty I have watched both play in several matches this season and all I can say is that their roles are quite different, even if they play in the same DM position. Arsenal's tactics on field aren't the same as Chelsea's. Song has more pace that's for sure. Mikel is more powerful and has better passing qualities (no, not just side/back passing, he's better than that and YOU know it ¬¬). Anywhoo, I'd pick Mikel in my team over Song. |
semid4lyfe:Err. . . Ok, add your Kaita dear in the equation. Can you at least tell me what you think about the FORMATION? Thx. |
^^^ Yeeaaah, I'm sure nobody else thought of that joke. ¬¬ |
I know this is unlikely but what do you guys think of a 3-5-2 formation for the SE? I got the idea from the following article: http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Sport/Football/5568207-147/lagerback_gambles_on_talent_and_fitness.csp This would be the line-up: Enyeama Apam Yobo Afolabi Odiah Mikel Etuhu Taiwo Odemwingie (c) Martins Obasi With this formation, our midfield, which lacks creativity, is more compact and dense. Taiwo would have more freedom going upfront with Afolabi covering him. Odemwingie can be a creative midfielder if he is given the chance. I noticed during Angola 2010 that although Amodu played him on the wings, he often took the liberty to stray in the middle and dictate the game. Regular subs: Nsofor - for one of the 2 forwards or for Osaze if he isn't performing, Haruna - for Etuhu if we need more attacking pace, Kanu - for one of the 2 forwards if we need to control the game/slow things a little. |
If you say so, 12large. If you say so. u_u If it were by personal preference, my 6 would be: 1. Odemwingie 2. Ik Uche 3. Martins 4. Anichebe 5. Obasi 6. Nsofor |
Aside the 23 man factor that generates a huge deal of debate, I'm also wondering what type of formation Lars will adopt. It's most likely going to be a 4-3-3 based on the current player selection. Nonetheless, he's an advocate of the classic 4-4-2 (one that I prefer) or 4-5-1 depending on the opponent. If Lars decides to play a 4-3-3, the midfield would be composed of: Milel - Etuhu (or Kaita) - Haruna (or Kanu or K. Uche) If its 4-4-2, I believe it should be: Mikel - Haruna; However, based on the coach's last itw, I'm sure he'll pick 2 defensive midfielders. ![]() |
Well, that makes 2 votes for Anichebe because I would DEFINITELY pick him. I like him for his pace and physical presence. He can play on the wings and as an anchor striker. Had Ik Uche been a 100% match fit, I'd have chosen him. However, we all know that isn't the case. John Utaka isn't that dynamic forward we once knew from the French Ligue 1. His bro, Peter, is handicapped by his Danish League price tag. Ideye. . . must I even give a reason? Seriously. |
Hello there, Based on the list of 30 players submitted by TA Lars Lagerback for the squad representing Nigeria in South Africa this summer, I believe that the final 23 would include 6 forwards, tops. Forwards = wingers + strikers. I'm sure we will all agree that Lars will be taking: - Odemwingie - Nsofor - Obasi - Martins - Yakubu That leaves only 1 spot for another forward. Who do you think that would be? 1. Ikechukwu Uche 2. Peter Utaka 3. John Utaka 4. Anichebe 5. Ideye ![]() PS: Kalu Uche and Kanu are considered as midfield players for Nigeria. |
Why repeat the same sentences in the last 2 paragraphs ![]() Anywhooo, informative. |
1. Bassey 2. J. Utaka 3. Kaita or Ayila 4. Suswan 5. Ideye 6. I. Uche or Anichebe (if the former is fit) 7. P. Utaka |
My best wishes to Mr. Sambo as vice president of Nigeria. |

12large:Yeah, a team that also wallopped Ghana's A team 5 nada not too long ago, and in turn Ghana's B team schooled us at the AFCON. My point is that NFF have confirmed 3 matches for the SE. Last I checked, 3 prep games are better than 1. Complain over there -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> |
honeric01:*Ahem* You may wanna avoid taking Nigeria "youth" teams as an example. ![]() |
dominique:12large's topic is based on the goal he scored during the last match he played with Monaco against Lorient. ![]() |
^^^ o_o That's. . . That's not the goal we're refering to. That one was against Sochaux. Like a month ago. deb:Err, that was [b]Kalu Uche (Almeria), his older bro. ![]() |
You guys should quit b!tching about which country Nigeria gets to play against. The most important thing is to secure a match and a venue. Imagine a team like Uruguay only has one official friendly match before the start of their WC campaign. . . against Israel (source fifa.com). I'm pretty satisfied with the friendlies (if all are confirmed). SE will face: - Saudi Arabia on May 25 - Colombia on May 30 - North Korea on June 4 (source fifa.com) |
Meh. I'm gonna shun the fb link. ![]() 1. Okocha "Jay Jay" 2. Amokachi "The Bull" 3. Kanu "Papilo" Mikel and Osaze are close runner-ups. |
He said himself that he will be fit in 2 weeks time. I'm counting on him. ![]() |
The purpose of the 3-eppie documentary on Lagos was not to undermine Gov. Fashola's work. I really appreciated the film. It showed the suffering Nigerians as very resourceful and resilient people. It made the viewers to able to bond with some of the inhabitants that were chosen to film their daily lives (Vocal Slender, Chubey, Esther, etc.). So yeah, I'm glad BBC made this documentary. It should be a source of information for not only foreigners but also (if not primarily) for the group Nigerians who do not suspect the depth of poverty in their own backyard. |
Definitely between Bordeaux (French Ligue 1) and Liverpool (EPL). The clubs who exceeded expectations for me are Fulham (EPL) - because of their Europa League Final berth and Bayern (German BundesLiga) - stunning second half of season performance. |
RIP, President Umaru Yar'Adua. |
The 14 "axed"-to-be players in bold: Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama (Hapoel Tel Aviv, Israel), Dele Aiyenugba (Bnei Yehuda, Israel), Austin Ejide (Hapoel Petah Tikva, Israel), Greg Etafia (Moroka Swallows, South Africa) and Bassey Akpan (Bayelsa United, Nigeria) Defenders: Taye Taiwo (Olympique Marseille, France), Elderson Echiejile (Rennes, France), Chidi Odiah (CSKA Moscow, Russia), Onyekachi Apam (OG Nice, France), Olubayo Adefemi (US Boulogne, France), Joseph Yobo (Everton, England), Daniel Shittu (Bolton Wanderers, England), Ayodele Adeleye (Sparta Rotterdam, Netherlands), Michael Odibe (Siena, Italy), Sam Sodje (Charlton Athletic, England), Rabiu Afolabi (SV Salzburg, Austria) and Terna Suswan (Lobi Stars, Nigeria) Midfielders/Forwards: Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Victor Anichebe (Everton, England), Chinedu Obasi (TSG Hoffenheim, Germany), Nwankwo Kanu, John Utaka (Portsmouth, England), Obafemi Martins (Wolfsburg, Germany), Brown Ideye (FC Sochaux, France), Femi Ajilore (Groningen, Netherlands), Joseph Akpala (FC Brugge, Belgium), Peter Utaka (Odense Boldklub, Denmark), Michael Eneramo (Esperance, Tunisia), Ikechukwu Uche (Real Zaragoza, Spain), Obinna Nsofor (Malaga, Spain), Kalu Uche (Almeria, Spain), Dickson Etuhu (Fulham, England), Mikel Obi (Chelsea, England), Sani Kaita (Alaniya, Russia), Haruna Lukman (AS Monaco, France), Yusuf Ayila (Dynamo Kiev, Ukraine), Osaze Odemwingie (Lokomotiv Moscow, Russia), Seyi Olofinjana (Hull City, England), Onyekachi Okonkwo (FC Zurich, Switzerland), Omatsone Aluko (Aberdeen, Scotland), Gabriel Reuben (Enyimba, Nigeria), Ahmed Musa, Solomon Okpako (Kano Pillars, Nigeria), Bartholomew Ibenegbu (Heartland FC). Like it or not guys, Kanu WILL BE in the 30-man list (not so sure for final 23). The Yak will be in SA. You all know it deep down. However, based on current form, he will not be an automatic starter. I tip Kalu Uche and Victor Anichebe (or Ike Uche if fit) up front, 4-4-2 style. ![]() |
Would be cool if we could see a vid of said goal. |
It depends with whom you do the kissing I guess. I've only French-kissed 2 girls in my life. The first one was intense and. . . well, yeah, INTENSE is the word. The second one felt like I was getting dominated, attacked, OVERWHELMED. I told her to slow down because I was feeling a bit oppressed. It got better with time though. I'm still not comfortable kissing in public , say, in tramcars or on the street. |
