^^^ . . . And one wonders why our football isn't making any progress. . .

I really hope that was a joke to bait people like me.

I've watched a couple of videos on Afolabi (Salzburg, Austria). He looks like a very good defender. Neat arial abilities. That could help. *included in my list above replacing Okonkwo*

^^^ He means Sani Kaita couldn't dribble past a 2 year old girl even if his life depended on it.

Oh, also, the guy cannot "trap" a ball in a million years. I still weep at ANC 2010 images of his technical mediocrity. It seemed like every pass from a teammate was a challenge.
SportsRe: Nfa To Report David Moyes To Fifa For Saying That Yakubu Falsified His Age. by Iyineda(m): 6:26pm On Apr 05, 2010
I dream of the day when Sepp Blatter/FIFA is able to convince Nigerian/African authorities to improve the age regulation of local players. Really, that would be the turning point of our football. . . For the better.

Today, we are living with a falsified "glory" (under age feats that should not be acknowledged).

Well, I'm not too sure we are going to see that many changes in the squad for SA 2010. Lagerback isn't going to revolutionize much in terms of squad depth. It's only the tactical aspects that are going to vary. Any how, here my final list, the one I believe is closest to becoming reality in just over a month from now.

Iyineda:
FULL SQUAD:
Goal keepers
1. Enyeama
12. Etafia
22. Aiyenugba

Defenders
2. Yobo
3. Taiwo
5. Onuoha
6. Adeleye
14. Odibe
16. Afolabi
21. Echiejile
23. Apam

Midfielders
10. Mikel
13. Ayila
17. Ajilore

20. Etuhu

Forwards
4. Kanu
7. Obasi
8. Yakubu
9. Martins
11. Osaze
15. I.Uche
I don't see more than 4 changes occuring in my proposed list.

SportsRe: Odibe Ready For Eagles Debut by Iyineda(m): 5:11pm On Mar 29, 2010
The luck most of these age-cheating players have is that sometimes they really do appear quite young for their "real" age, especially when they're kinda short. I met one of our fellow Najiamen in France. At the time he was playing for Bayonne, 3rd division I think.

It was cool to meet a soon-to-be-pro but then for some reason he told me that he was lucky to get a shirt because he claimed to be 21 when in reality he was 28. Not a huge difference but still. . .

So I won't be surprised if Odibe is close to his 30s.

Definitely on the black list:

- Shittu (only because of lack of games with club)
- Olofinjana
- Nwaneri
- Yusuf
Hmm, I might be forgetting someone. . .oh yeah, NWANERI.

On the not-so-sure list:
- Yobo
- Kanu
- Ayila
Christianity EtcRe: Lets have your personal supernatural experiences by Iyineda(m): 11:00am On Mar 26, 2010
Have I ever experienced anything supernatural? Yes

What happened? People where blabbering utter nonesense in some church and when I asked what was going on I was told they were speaking in tongues. Still haven't recovered from that traumatizing experience.
SportsRe: Lukman And Ideye Don Hang by Iyineda(m): 8:59pm On Mar 24, 2010
I was just about to create a thread dedicated to these 2 players. Ideye Brown is the man who caught my eye. I didn't know he was Nigerian until the commentators mentionned it after he scored Sochaux's 3rd.
Interesting prospect. He is barely 22 and looks like it. smiley
SportsRe: Who Is Your Favourite Football Commentator ? by Iyineda(m): 6:38pm On Mar 24, 2010
I don't know their names but all I can say is that my favourite commentators are Englishmen. I love their accent, the way they use their words. It's seems so ordinary but very effective and sometimes hilarious! grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Messi Vs Rooney: Who Is Better For 2009/10 Season? by Iyineda(m): 7:36pm On Mar 22, 2010
If you don't follow the Spanish La Liga often enough, then I'd understand how some of you can put R00ney above Messi. But of you do, please, respect yourselves. Although they don't play in the same position, although their style of play is different, overall you have to admit that Messi has an edge over the Englishman.

Barca isn't my favourite team, Man Utd is, BY FAR. So there's no bias here. Messi is simply waaaay on top. I still haven't gotten over Sunday's game against Zaragoza. No Messi = Zaragoza 2 - Barca 0. Watch the match on tape, DVD, Bluray, online. You will notice just how much he lifts up the whole team all by himself. True genius.

SportsRe: Did Dider Drogba Deserve The CAF Award? by Iyineda(m): 12:11pm On Mar 21, 2010
No, Drogba didn't deserve the award for 2009. For the 2010 award, if he does well with CIV, then he'd deserve that one hands down. And no, for me he isn't the best African footballer. I choose Eto'o over Drogba anyday.

No and Eto showed him why on Tuesday grin

SportsRe: Is John Mikel Obi Superb Or Simply Overrated? by Iyineda(m): 8:29am On Mar 18, 2010
I'm utterly dumbfounded by the harsh words and lack of support for youngster Mikel Obi. What did he do to you guys for him to get bashed this badlyhuh

Ever since 2005, I've seen Mikel as one of the better prospects for Nigerian football in the upcoming years. He is clinical in his way when it comes to passing (short and long distances), albeit he must improve his tackling. A bit too rash at times. He also has concentration lapses but that will improve with time.

Anyway, haters must at least realize that if Mikel is being given a starting position - or at the very least a regular shirt - it's because he is a quality player. Mourinho and Abramovich actually invested in the Nigerian youngster amidst superstars such as Shevchencko, Ballack, Carvalho.

The only issue now is determining which role Mikel could excel better on the international level. Is he a defensive midfielder ala Makelele or is he the Xavi/Xavi Alonso type? I cannot wait to see where Lagerback plays him during the WC. smiley
PoliticsRe: Why Did You Leave Nigeria? by Iyineda(m): 12:43pm On Mar 17, 2010
My reason? 'Forced' expatriation. I didn't have much of a choice back then.

Having settled pretty well in the French educational system, my parents decided to leave me behind and take my siblings back to Nigeria. It's been 12 years now. . .

My cousin keeps saying that I will never return to live in Nigeria. Only time (and a particular cause) will tell.

The different shades of skin colour:

https://i43.tinypic.com/2evt2iu.png

Speaking for myself, skin colour is the least of my concerns when determining what physically attracts me to a girl. The quality of the skin, yes, but skin tone?? Meh.

I've only had one serious relationship. . . with a Nigerian girl. She is in the 27-29 range on the von Luschan chromatic scale shown above. I as well am within that range. When my ex came to see me in my Lagos hotel, one of the attendants discretely slid in a comment saying he was surprised I liked "the dark local type of girls". I was kinda flabbergasted but I tried not to show it.
My mother is in the 24-26 range, my dad in the 30+ and my maternal grandmother, 21-23. Skin colour has never been an issue for me. Neither has "race".

So to the girls with a complex because of their very dark skin, just know that not all men pay attention to that. Colour is insignificant if you truly care for the person. wink
