lawrence83:Gee, what gave that out? I'm convinced Man Utd has the team to go all the way, that's all. Oh, and also, I'm getting sick and tired of people always compounding Man Utd victories to the sole performances of Sir Alex or Rooney. That's BS! I thought those 2 were also part of the same Man Utd team last season that everyone kept saying was one-man-dependent (C. Ronaldo)? So what now? If next season those 2 leave the club and Berbatov finally decides to sport his scoring boots will that make the team one-man-dependent? Please. . . |
Man Utd at Santiago Bernabeu in May. Tickets already booked. ![]() |
Krayola:Okay. To keep it simple, what I meant by "humans are flawed" is that we aren't born perfect. We have flaws that vary depending on society, education, physical abilities, etc. So when I say that religion is the creation of Man (which, I'm sorry, IT IS) thus, it is flawed, I'm trying to say that since religion is handled by imperfect/flawed beings, then it is bound to be a flawed institution. That is why I named that reasoning "logic of contamination" (pure invention of mine ), because whatever thing/object humans touch, manipulate, create, there's a high possibility that it will also become error-prone/imperfect. Even science that advocates truth and objectivity isn't perfect because those handling the subject aren't perfect themselves.I hope I cleared that out. ![]() chinedumo:Then Jesus/"God" is confused because how does "He" expect us humans to follow his teachings if they are subject to mis-interpretation - since, as you said, "you see things the way you are and not the way they are". How can mankind worship a god homogeneously if the message isn't received the same way for all of us? chinedumo: ??chinedumo:Well, good luck with that. ![]() My mum has been trying to "guide me" for the past 5 years now. Still no sign of improvement I must say. Peace. |
univera111:Cool story bro/sis/thing. [s] So after all the complaints the SE still went on to wear those plain green jerseys Adidas poop'd out on us. A shame.I wonder if there's a correlation between the unconvincing display of the players during the Africa Cup of Nations and the bland looking jersey. [/s] |
chinedumo:No doubt about that. I'm yet to have a proper definition of what "true Christianity" really is. That's why I wrote that one post asking for clarification. ![]() chinedumo:Hey, we're cool. I'm not offended. I'm here to have a frank discussion with civilized people. ![]() chinedumo:My point was never to "build a doubt" in you, at all. I just tried to point out that defining what "true religion" is could be a neck-breaker notably because of the various existing branches of the religion. chinedumo:Now, here are a few questions for you: How do you pinpoint "false teaching and abuses" in the same religion? What is genuine and what isn't? Why is it that the original source, the Bible, cannot be embraced and accepted homogeneously by all those who claim to be Christians? Why are there so many variants (not exceptions since there are SO MANY)? You tell me. |
Deep Sight:Err, I never said I wanted to "discuss" anything with you. You are the one who first replied to my post which, btw, was directed to someone else. And it's not that I refuse to read the "thought development", it's just that I'm a little short on time and I'd rather read more interesting topics. No offense. ![]() |
9hmo:Fixed. ![]() Say guys, when do you think the posting on this thread will stop? At page 350 or 351? ![]() ![]() |
Guys, guys. . . you're doing it wrong. It's supposed to be 332 ![]() |
Cool story bro. Care for a cookie? ![]() |
Does the pastor inform me before he empties the offering boxes into his pockets?lmao! XDD Pure genius. |
Abolish religion? Not a chance. Even coming from an agnostic like myself, I think it would be a bad idea to ban folks from worshipping as they please. It would only stir up more shiit-fests and extremism. Non believers shouldn't do like the religious biggots who always found a way to ban anything that could remotely hamper religion's control over society. Galileo still weeps in his grave. However, religion should not be mixed with politics, education and profession in general (like the London bus driver who stopped driving in the middle of his job to pray, wth?!). Religion should strictly remain a private matter. Not a state affair. I like how countries like France and Germany are handling this issue, although there are still some things to improve on. |
a lot of churches and pastors believe this should be the norm - pray, then speak to d pastor and pastor speaks to lady on your behalf - what do you think? of course you should inform the pastor, remember the pastor is the spiritual father and he/she will be in the best position to seek the face of GOD concerning the relationship.HOLY. SHIIT. Wtf? Serioulsy?? Man - Good day, pastor. See, I spotted this one chick in the front row of the church and. . . oh yes, that's right, instead of praying and praising the Lord I was busy scouting for potential coitus with a female. Any piece of advice you could throw in there for a man in desperate need? Pastor - https://i49.tinypic.com/2mgr4w2.gif . . . Man - Is there a problem, pastor? Pastor - https://i46.tinypic.com/2uz6wew.png You're doing it wrong. |
Another thing that bugs me about the idea of "God", through religion, is that he is seen and worshipped differently across the globe. Europe has/had Christianity, Middle East has Islam, the Jews have. . . Judaism (I'm sure you didn't see that coming), East Asia has its various philosophies, etc. Let's take "God" according to the Christians. If he sent Jesus to deliver his message to mankind, why didn't he try to directly intervene in more than just one region in such a massive planet like Earth?? Because that left a huge chunk of humanity in the dark (poor Asians, Native Americans, Inuits, Sub-Saharan Africans, Arabs, Persians, . . .) before His brave European messengers had the decency to shed some light to the rest of the world. I mean, He created Man after all. He should have known that we have trust issues. He could have avoided centuries of war! Just saying. . . |
lagerwhenindoubt:Whoa. . . o_O Talk about open door proselytism. |
dinsky:Next time try putting up a thread of the sort based on a reliable source, dinsky. Like the following for example: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/8510136.stm |
@ Thread and posters https://i47.tinypic.com/2h66dft.gif https://i47.tinypic.com/2h66dft.gif https://i47.tinypic.com/2h66dft.gif https://i47.tinypic.com/2h66dft.gif YOU JUST FVCKIN' WON THE INTERNET! https://i46.tinypic.com/dr6smw.jpg ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh, and to continue with this hilariously awkward bandwagon, yesterday a 322lbs black male stole my 323$ bike. Or was it. . . Anyhow, shiit happens. |
Deep Sight:No, I'm sorry I have not read all the comments posted on this thread. And that probably explains why I couldn't answer the question correctly. But I'm afraid reading said thought development won't bring a different answer from me. ![]() |
Krayola:"Logic of contamination" is an expression I came up with just to assert my argument, so I won't blame you for not getting it. Nonetheless, that wasn't the main aspect of the point I was trying to make.Besides, the counter-example you used in your last sentence is flawed (you're only human, it's ok) because "humans are alive" is a common fact; that logic cannot be applied to shoes because the definition of an object is that it is lifeless. You didn't catch me saying: Humans are alive. Humans created religion. Thus religion is alive. You could have at least come up with a more decent counter-example. ![]() |
toba:Unnecessary flamebait. I just warned not to feed the troll. . . |
This must be fictionNo waaiiiii !!!!1! I think you're on to something. |
It is official: Abu Zola is a troll. DO NOT FEED THE TROLL. I've come across 5 comments of his in just 1 day and all were very offensive and hurtful. I can understand his enthousiasm for Islam but calling him a religious Abu Zola:Wow, he even finds it difficult to grasp clear symbols that distinguish gender on this forum. https://i46.tinypic.com/2uz6wew.png It's not only a case of religious fanatism afterall. . . Oh and to reply to OP's question: do what you think is right for your well-being and yours only. But judging by your post, I'm under the impression that for you choosing a religion is mandatory. If one doesn't work out, you must seek for another. Maybe you ought to start asking yourself why you feel the need to be attached to a religious institution. |
WHO CAUSES DISASTERS? This Poo is serious.Shiit just got real! https://i48.tinypic.com/mw8umw.png https://i48.tinypic.com/mw8umw.png |
vivaladiva:Haha. . . Nice of you. I'm glad some of my inputs are taken into consideration on these boards. I don't claim to know it all. But there are somethings that I wish all eyes would open up to and acknowledge.Oh btw, it is Iyineda. ![]() chinedumo:If your question was addressed to me, then I'd start by asking you what exactly is "true Christianity". Because with just that adjective, 'true', I can point out the very problem I have with Christianity. It is a stream of thought that isn't even homogenous. It has way too many branches: Catholic, Anglican, Orthodox, Pentecostal, Baptist, Methodist, Mennonite, Apostolic, Presbyterian, Marianist and what not. And those branches all hail from one source: the Bible. A problem with interpretation, much? Humans are flawed. Humans created religion. Thus religion is flawed. Pure logic of contamination if you ask me. ^^' |
vivaladiva:I think I'm falling in lo. . . Oh wait, today's Valentine's day. No wonder! ![]() vivaladiva, I couldn't have come up with a better explanation about said topic. Kudos. Deep Sight:I'm not too sure I understand the question, but let me just say that "this thread" got it wrong because we are still yet to discover the very origin of the existence of life in general (not only on Earth mind you). So it's difficult to just throw out in the air that a superior being is what's responsible for all things in creation. And no, I can't describe Man as such because before Man you had the dinosaurs! So even those animals could claim the title of "prime mover" before humanity could. ^_^ |
I am neither Christian nor Muslim, but i am convinced that logical reasoning can prove the existence of God. ![]() I must admit, OP lost me with that sentence. "Logical reasoning can prove the existence of God". As far as I, an agnostic, is concerned, God is merely the representation of a supposedly superior being generated by Man. |
To be honest I had a totally different approach to answer your question (because I'm not a believer); however, I just want to tell you that my mother and sisters are Christians and they all wear jeans, trousers and what have you. They definitely don't feel guilty and don't seem too worried about if "God" approves or not. I could understand if you were hesitant about wearing skimpy clothings, but come on: A PAIR OF TROUSERS! Never thought that could be mind-boggling. |
Religion is MOST CERTAINLY a problem, especially in Africa. Need I say Boko Haram to get some attention? What I still don't get is why Africans, despite having faught for their freedom against the 'West', still insist on keeping the religion(s) they imposed on us. Without colonialism, we Sub-Saharan Africans wouldn't be Christians, nor Muslims, nor Jews. . . |
alexben:Not helping. . https://i49.tinypic.com/2mgr4w2.gif adconline: |
How I see the difference between science and religion: * Science is based on facts and theories that try to push our understanding of the world we live in even further; * Religion is based on ancient tales (few verified, most mythology-bound) that hold men captive in what I like to call a state of 'mass illusion'. PS: Religion has NOTHING to do with spirituality. If you don't grasp that already, then there's no point having a pseudo-debate. Religion is institutionalized. Spirituality comes from within. |
Well, that's it for this less than enticing ANC. I just hope SA 2010 will live up to expectations, especially when it comes to match officiating, quality of football and overall safety. |
