Amodu Shaibu isn't the one to blame for the loss against the Pharaohs. The French sports website, L'Equipe, just revealed that it was his alter-ego, Amoyu Shuaibi, who led the team that got manhandled by the Egyptians. True story. Check it out on their website.
What an opinion… In the wake of the terrorist attack on the Togolese team before the start of the AFCON in Angola, I believe that FIFA would be fully justified in taking the WC away from South Africa and giving it to a civilized country like Australia or some other first-world country that has the requisite stadiums . . . like England perhaps.
There. I stopped taking this post seriously the moment I read that. What can you say other than "he's just another ill-informed slowpoke"? ![]() I'm getting sick of this type of post-Cabinda attack comments. Even a French friend of mine expressed his concern about the WC being held in Africa. Yeah, because Africa is ONE big nation where everyone look alike, think alike and have the same issues. . . I'm out. |

Analogy between top 5 African teams and their European counterparts: - Egypt = Italy - Cameroon = Germany - Ghana = England - Nigeria = France ![]() - CIV = Spain I know this has nothing to do with yesterday's match but I was just wondering what you guys think about the analogy. ![]() |
My ratings for yesterday's SE team: Enyeama: 6 - He didn't make any huge mistake, but he clearly wasn't at his best looking at the 3rd Egyptian goal. Yusuf: 4.5 - Desent 1st half, mediocre second half; he was not consistent at all. Yobo: 4 - My biggest disappointment. He looked very shaky when put under pressure by Zidan. Nwaneri: 4.5 - Very sloppy in the back despite being the hardest working defender of the match. Taiwo: 5.5 - Neither impressive when going forward nor while defending. However he was one of the few who poised as a potential threat to the Egyptians. Ayila: 6 - Very discret but efficient game. Clean areial passing. Etuhu: 6 - One of the better players on the field, although he wasn't able to supply leathal passes when in position to do so. Mikel: 6.5 - He played his Chelsea turf in the 1st half. When Nigeria was 2-1 down, he offered quite a few options but was quickly withdrawn. . . mistakenly so. Obasi: 7.5 - Clearly the best man in green. Constantly a pest for the left flank of the Egyptian side. Subsided during the last 15 minutes of the match. Uche: 5.5 - Missed a clear shot on goal . Erratic effort. Yakubu: 3.5 - Not in the game. Some of the blame has to be put on his positioning on the field and the lack of creativity of the midfield. Substitutions Nsofor: n/a - Ineffective. Kanu: n/a - Culprit of the last goal Nigeria conceeded in a flash counter attack. Didn't have time to exploit the ball. THE TEAM'S OVERALL AVERAGE = 5.4 |
Players I want out of the WC 2010 squad: - Yusuf - Yakubu - Kanu - Nwaneri - Shittu - Kaita - Olofinjana Players I want in: - Olubayo - Ike Uche - Rabiu Ibrahim - Sam Sodje - Adeleye - Ajilore - Eneramo My final 23 would be: Goalies: 1. Enyeama, 12. Ejide or Etafia, 23. Aiyenugba; Defenders: 2. Yobo, 3. Taiwo, 4. Olubayo, 5. Adeleye, 6. Sodje, 17. Odiah, 21. Echiejile, 22. Apam Midfielders: 8. Ajilore, 10. Mikel, 13. Ayila, 14. Rabiu, 16. K.Uche, 20. Etuhu Forwards: 7. Obasi, 9. Martins, 11. Osaze, 15. I.Uche, 18. Nsofor, 19. Eneramo (or some other in-form striker that can play as a point-man) I fancy the 4-3-3 formation. I like the idea of flowing thru the flanks and then cutting in with assets such as I.Uche and Obasi. My starting line-up would be: Enyeama Olubayo Yobo(c) Adeleye Taiwo Mikel Ayila Ajilore Obasi Osaze I.Uche Coming to think of it, Osaze can also be a point-man. He plays in that position with Lokomotive and played like that with France's LOSC. |
Line up I expect for our next match: 1. Enyeama 17. Odiah; 2. Yobo(c); 5. Nwaneri 3. Taiwo 10. Mikel; 13. Ayila; 20. Etuhu 7. Obasi; 9. Martins; 11. Osaze Things I liked in our 1st match: - Obasi's talent - Midfield chemistry during the first 20 min of the game - Taiwo chosen over Echiejile Things I loathed: - Lack of focus in defense - Zero fighting spirit - Scruffy when led on the scoreline - Nonechalant way of playing the ball around when leading on the scoreline --> entails mistakes. |
flashgeek:WORST. IDEA. EVER. It is these kind of delusional thoughts that make Nigeria go deeper and deeper to unfathomable levels of a dark. . . dark pit of vacuum. We should stop trying to "summon" spirits and all sorts of stellar beliefs. I'm not saying I have a grand plan for the country. I'm just saying we should start by getting more in touch with our intellect. Regarding the match, it started off pretty well. I was happy with the first 25 minutes of the match, then I noticed the SE's tendency to sit back and commit silly mistakes in defense. I knew we wouldn't end the match victorious. And honestly, the scoreline could have been much MUCH worse. . . ![]() I'm still waiting to see their performance against Benin before calling anyone off. |
Well, I started watching African football in the mid to late 90's. ![]() Mine are: 1. Okocha 2. Eto'o 3. Amokachi 4. Mboma 5. Kanu Yeah, you noticed huh? Nigeria and Cameroon rocked my childhood. ![]() |
My SE 11 (4-3-3): 1 Enyeama 2 6 Yobo (c) Shittu 17 3 Odiah Taiwo 13 Ayila 10 Mikel 16 Uche 11 7 Osaze Obasi 8 Yakubu Regular subs: - Martins for Yakubu if he lacks what it takes - Nsofor for Obasi if we need more width in our game - Kanu for Ayila or Uche (depending on score line) if we need more creativity |
And we wonder why it took FIFA forever to bring the world cup to Africa. Imagine if it were say the U.S team bus that was attacked in say Pretoria. Guy yawa don gas be that. But I respect the decision of the Togolese team to continue in the tournament, It would go a long way to show these rebels/militant that we would not be held captive by them. ACN Angola 2010. I now support Togo now that Nigeria is out. lol.
Sorry, whut? https://i47.tinypic.com/2cgn0br.gif |

“The country cannot be adjudged a terrorist country because of the misdeed of one man, the person in question neither received his training in Nigeria, nor grew up in the country,” Ugwu told the UN correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria.THANK YOU. THANK. YOU. That's the line I've been waiting for someone who has media expsoure to say. Nigeria doesn't harbour terrorist groups. Only one misguided Nigerian citizen was enrolled by a terrorist group and attempted to blow up a plane. By no means should this even correlate with Nigeria as a country. The moment all the journalists and tv reporters kept emphasizing on Farouk's nationality, I knew this would be the outcome. We are now international scapegoats. And our current political situation (missing president) doesn't help. |
snakova:https://i46.tinypic.com/2uz6wew.png How does deb's comment have anything to do with tribalism? He spoke his mind and said that Adefemi Olubayo > Yusuf Mohammed, and I agree. The latter being from the North is irrelevant. I couldn't care less if he were even from Lesotho but got naturalized, or Spanish, or an alien. And I would remain indifferent to see an SE squad with 0 Yoruba's and 23 Igbos. I DON'T GIVE A bleep ABOUT TRIBES. This has to be one of the most retarded replies I've read on these boards. And this time, I'm not kidding. |
Well, it depends on the person's personality and character. When Zinedine Zidane got married (in his mid 20's) that didn't stop him from playing high level football. In fact, he got better after getting married to Véronique. I only wish that kind of development for Jo Yobo. ![]() |
I would be more than glad this news were to be true and CAF allow the swap. 6. Adeleye instead of Shittu (still recovering so he is below Nwaneri atm) 19/22. Olubayo instead of Yusuf / Apam. *fingers crossed* |
deb:https://i47.tinypic.com/fna71c.gif https://i47.tinypic.com/fna71c.gif deb:That statement was intentionally hyperbolical. I exaggerated. . . a bit. But it was only to make fun. Nothing to be taken seriously. I'm not a football analyst, and I know most of you out there aren't either. I'm just teasing and using a cheesy tone. That's all. https://i48.tinypic.com/msg8si.gif |

I know Sagamite made this thread for the lulz - kinda blinking at the tards who want Amodu to be sacked before Afcon conclusion ![]() In the same degree of humor, I'd say that A. Ferguson cannot be sacked because he's the only manager that has the power to sack a chairman of a club like Man Utd. Yes. . . he's that awesome. ![]() |
Uche2nna:He was dropped because Amodu suffers from the Oba-see syndrome. He can only see Obafemi Martins not Chinedu Obasi. ![]() |
Why was Obasi dropped and Eneramo picked? Why?? Read here --> https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-374493.0.html |
Pros: + Pretty solid defense line (bar the matches against Tunisia and Kenya) + Group cohesion / players having played several times with each other during the WC qualification phase + World class goalie: Enyeama + Players with high international level experience (Champions League, dominant European leagues) + A team that is hard to maneuver / physical strength + Odemwingie ![]() Cons: - - A score of unfit team members (Yobo, Shittu, Martins, . . .) - Lack of focus (especially in the midfield) - Poor creativity - High propensity to squander decent goal opportunities |
