Bronze medal: forever Nigeria's birthright. CAF: "Don't you want to try on the gold medal just this once?"; NFF: "Meh, we're cool with the bronze". Hate it or love it. . . |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfSmgvS81sY His teammates seem happy for him. ![]() I'd like to see him play in a friendly just before the WC to have an idea of his latent potential. |
Just a few weeks ago I was SERIOUSLY addicted to: - Naruto (manga) - Naruto Shippuden (anime) - Scrubs - Candy - Some girl in school Now, I'm still deeply into the Internet in general, especially to watch US series/sitcoms online. saemoenl:https://i49.tinypic.com/2mgr4w2.gif |

Who the frack is this Tb Joshua everyone seems to d!ckride about?!! ![]() Leave religion/belief away from the sport! How annoying. . . |
Also, I've been on one of Ghana's most popular football forums and I cannot but notice that they always emphasize on the fact that they are playing with their U-20 squad. 2 things to that: - I didn't know a total of 6 players aged less than 21 could actually embody a whole 23-man squad (how about the "older" men, huh?) - Nobody forced the coach, Milo, to select the U-20 players, I'm sure they aren't the only available A-team material that the Black Stars could pick from. . . or are they? https://i50.tinypic.com/2mxms8g.png Anyway, be rest assured that if they beat us, it will be "Haha, our teenagers whooped your @ss, lolnaijalol". If we win, "Meh, you self-claimed giants of Africa only managed to outdo a bunch of kids, nothing much to it". In both cases, we have failed as far as Ghana goes. |
I feel serene about SE encounter against Ghana's BS (BullSh!t?) ![]() But I'm not going to start talking about predictions. One thing the Afcon has taught us is that predicting a football match is as good as trying to read a map without. . . . A MAP. Our "boys" didn't show a convincing and coherent game plan. That's a huge letdown but I hope that doesn't happen again. The current crop of players are capable of so much more! ![]() And with the addition of the likes of Ike Uche, Ajilore, Adeleye and Olubayo for our SA 2010 campaign, I am quite confident of a good outing. |
Iyineda's SE players ratings: Enyeama - 8 Yusuf - 6.5 Apam - 7 (regardless of the red card) Shittu - 6.5 Echiejile - 6 Kaita - 4 (biggest disappointment! )Etuhu - 4.5 Mikel - 6 Osaze - 6 ![]() Obasi - 4.5 Yakubu - 4 ------------------------ Ayila - 6.5 Martins - 5.5 Nsofor - 5 |
I was not rooting for the "U-17" team because I knew they were ALL above age 17. Those of you who say the Westerners are also overage are very misled and blinded by guilt. All the "achievements" of our "youth" teams are fallacious. Okoro is well over 25 years old. My dad once said in 2003 that if Ogbeche claimed to be 19 then I could claim to be 8. I was 15 back then. . . We need change in our system. The faster, the better. |
Katsumoto:True talk. I forgot about that. I would make the same replacement. Etuhu isn't agile and incisive enough. He has been okay so far, but Ayila has the edge. Kaita, with the game he had against Mozambique, is a first-team asset, no doubt. |
I'm relieved that the SE will be facing a Zambian side without who I consider to be their best player of the tournament so far: Kalaba (suspended). That guy is a devil. He has pace, he's skillful and witty at the same time. His only flaw is his tendency to make hasty decisions. I want to believe that M. Amodu will deploy the same team that defeated the Mambas with the sole exception being the inclusion of Martins for the Yak. With the same level of focus we had in our last match, we should be able to fly past the Copper Bullets and scale through to the semis. ![]() |

It's funny to see how people still don't get this QF scheduling despite clarification. ![]() - Gabon, Zambia and Cameroon all had the same number of points (4) - The head to head rule cannot be applied because Cameroon beat Zambia, Zambia beat Gabon and Gabon beat Cameroon (vicious circle) - Next rule is the number of goals scored among those 3 nations only (excludes Tunisia), so Zambia come 1st with 4 goals (2 against Cameroon and 2 against Gabon), then 2nd is Cameroon with 3 goals and finally Gabon end 3rd of the group with 2 goals (rule is also known as "mini-league" . ![]() chamotex:Quoted for maximum truth. ![]() |
IbrahimB:Egypt Vs Cameroon; Zambia Vs Nigeria. |
sultan003:Thank you very much for clarifying this issue, sultan003. I knew that it was officially Zambia Vs Nigeria but I didn't understand how that was possible. You have offered valuable explanation. I'm still waiting to see said link though. ![]() |

SeXyBoNE:I hope we lock horns with Gabon. I have this Gabonese friend of mine that kept telling me Gabon would beat the SE if given the chance. Well, I wish them goodluck against Zambia. Cameroon is my 2nd choice opponent. I'm fed up with Tunisia; we've played them twice in one year. Zambia was part of our pre-tournament warm-up adversaries. So no, not them. . . |
My SE players ratings of the day: Enyeama - 8 Yusuf - 7 Apam - 7 Shittu - 7 Echiejile - 6.5 Kaita - 7.5 Etuhu - 6 Mikel - 7.5 Osaze - 8.5 ![]() Obasi - 6.5 Yakubu - 6 |
Amodu should retire, enough of his rantings
@ Mama-gee and all those who still aren't aware: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-383371.0.html |
9ijaprince:https://i46.tinypic.com/2uz6wew.png There we go again. . I still wonder why "God" only works for the SE in the eyes of some people out there. Anyhow, I want to see the outcome of our Afcon campaign. Only at the end will I pass down judgment. ![]() For now anyway, the team is far from convincing. But they aren't my biggest disappointment in the tournament. Eto'o fils' Cameroon takes the cake. ![]() |
honeric01:Answer: Iyineda: ![]() |
honeric01:Why must there be more than one unpreviously capped player in the WC 2010 team? ![]() We are talking group cohesion necessary to develop in less than 6 months. The last thing we need are 10 new players who haven't been playing with each other. I'm satisfied with the "regulars" but not with the current tactic and line-up, that's all. I'm not trying to revolutionize Nigerian football. ![]() I think the team I picked would do us proud if managed with intelligence and enhanced work ethics. ![]() |
~snip~ |
Fans/people expect a lot from Nigeria because of our potential (especially in terms of population). So when the SE fails to live up to expectations, we get upset. Sometimes in a childish fashion, other times with constructive criticism. |
Iyineda's pick Goalkeepers 1. Enyeama 23. Aiyenugba 12. Etafia Defenders 5. Adeleye 22. Apam 2. Yobo (c) 19. Olubayo 21. Echiejile 3. Taiwo 6. Shittu 17. Odiah Midfielders 10. Mikel 20. Etuhu 4. Ajilore 16. K. Uche 14. Haruna 13. Ayila Attackers 15. I. Uche 9. Martins 7. Obasi 8. Eneramo* 11. Odemwingie 18. Nsofor * Eneramo is my default pick in the point-man striker position for now, but it could be someone else depending on physical form and goal tally at the end of this season (Anichebe is where my hopes are greatest, but he's too injury prone and inexperienced) Formation 4-4-2, line up: Enyeama Yobo Adeleye Olubayo Taiwo Mikel Ajilore Obasi Osaze I.Uche Eneramo Regular subs: - Nsofor - Martins - K.Uche - Ayila |
nas 00:I stopped taking you seriously after reading that, nas 00. So what now? You're going to teach me how to appreciate a game of football? You probably think I'm one of those who only follow the games because of a bandwagon mentality. Dude, I've played football at club level in France for several years. Obasi sucked in this match. Period. You gave me some examples where he didn't do too bad, but those were overshadowed by the relentless back passing attitude of his in the 2nd half. He stopped pressing forward after the Yak converted the penalty. He did like most players, but I was expecting much more from him given his display against Egypt. He is one of the few on our current squad (with Osaze and Mikel) that I have high regard for. So, yeah, he disappointed me the most. My judgement wasn't hasty. That's how I still feel. I just want Amodu to change his tactics and try a 4-4-2 formation because it's like the 4-3-3 burns our cards in attack and breaches our midfield. |
kvolander:This match wasn't annoying because Nigeria failed to score more than 1 goal against the Squirrels. No. It's the tactical. . . wait, the problem is the absence of anything remotely close to a game plan. Nigeria sucked. Amodu sucked. And I cannot get over it. 90 minutes of my life. Gone to oblivion. |
9jafreak:Best. Post. On. This. Thread. |
My player ratings of this sh*tty match: - Enyeama: 5 - Yusuf: 4.5 - Yobo: 5.5 - Shittu: 7 - Echiejile: 4.5 - Etuhu: 5 - Mikel: 5 - Uche: 4.5 - Obasi: 3.5 (biggest disappointment) - Osaze: 5.5 - Yakubu: 5 (only thanks to the goal) --------------------------------------------- - Apam: 5 - Nsofor: 4 - AMODU: 1.5 I'm so pissed to leave any relevant comment as of now. Words fail me. . . |
@ Semid4lyfe I'd prefer to see this line up and formation instead: Enyeama Yobo(c) Shittu Odiah Taiwo Ayila Mikel Uche Obasi Nsofor Osaze I have a soft spot for the 4-3-3 formation. ![]() I'd rather have Odemwingie as our main striker. He is used to playing in that position at club level and I prefer him in that position. If Nsofor is ineffective, bring him out for Martins then Osaze takes the left flank, Martins the center forward position. Kanu coming in is always a bad sign because that would mean the team is lacking in the creativity department. |
