BlueRayDick: The comments I've been seeing online as regards this Dangote Vs Union issue has made me realize one thing; most Nigerians are tyrants and would also act worse than Dangote going by how they are trying to make sense out of his decisions on this matter. Most of them think Dangote being the principal promoter of Dangote Refinery should be allowed to block staff from joining trade unions (even if that is against Nigerian labor laws).
What they don't know is that other African countries Dangote has bueiness ventures like Ethiopia, Senegal,Cameroon, Ethiopia, Zambia, Tanzania, etc; he acts in accordance with the laws of those host countries. Whatever law that is in opration in those countries to protect the right of staff, he dares not contravene them if he wants to continue to enjoy smooth business operations.
Just look at his senior management in Nigeria(attached letterhead), na Indians he pack full am to deal with his fellow Nigerians. In some African countries they will dictate the number of top management that must be their own citizen except they don't have any local talent to fill the role.
Dangote has powerful friends in Nigeria so he will most likely win this battle sha. He will most likely ask the sacked staff to re-apply and when they do; he will give them a conditional offer. The offer for employment will be subject to a condition that they won't join any union throughout the course of their employment. I think this may be the idea behind the sack of the total workforce. It is a wicked HR strategy You have said it all. In those countries where he is operating, he will obey their own laws to the last letter. Someone is contravening labour laws, and Nigerians are clapping from the comfort of their homes. How does this make sense? Dangote is free to join Union, but 90% of his staff are not free to join....Make it make sense, abeg. We don't even know what we want as a people. |

BlueRayDick: Dangote has "allegedly" sacked all Nigerian employees of his refinery who joined PENGASSAN
https://www.nairaland.com/8527123/dangote-refinery-sacks-nigerian-employees
Word on the street is that Dangote as a group doesn't even pay well like that compared to other players in the various sectors/industry they operate; dem just get big name. Most likely the reason they are trying to frustrate efforts of staff of the oil and gas arm of the group from joining a powerful union like PENGASSAN.
This film go long sha. Let those who were against him joining Union, absorb them. If Union wasn't good, why will 90% of his local staff join, even against their employer's wish? Nigerians don't know what they want. Let the online Mandelas employ them. All of us go dey alright in the end. |

Beremx: When the buildings are almost completed, they start to demolish. What is the agency for buildings doing if they don't know their job? Who approved the buildings when they know it's going to cause an obstruction? These buildings were approved as far back as Obasanjo's administration. Why is Tinubu destroying them in his administration? Trade Fair complex belongs to the FG so I know what I'm saying The buildings demolished today, were not approved under any Obasanjo regime. The Trade fair market (Initially from Balogun to ASPAMDA), still remains the recognized market that was leased in the late 90s. These demolished buildings are warehouses that people bought and built on. Those places used to be buffer zones for the market. The question is who gave the approvals, as those buildings have being there for years. Even a bank was affected. |

BlueRayDick: About few months ago Lagos state government issued a statement warning about flooding to come this year . They advised people living in flood prone areas and communities around the Lagos lagoon and Ogun river ( some parts of Ikorodu , Berger, Mile 12 , etc ) to relocate .
I was wondering if the advisory made sense because I don’t seem to understand where they expect those people to move to . The tone of the advisory sounded like there’s nothing the government can do about the floods ; so they expect the people to resort to self help . The thing is crazy. Most likely the owners of the buildings will convert them back to residential which they were before they partitioned them into shops and started renting it out to computer sellers first before phone sellers in the wake of GSM revolution. I think that they must have bought all those buildings for commercial use. LASG wants to relocate the market entirely, and use the place for something else. That person dey give u half truth already shows they are not being honest na.
See the half truths NNPC management gave about the state of our refinery over and over again. You see how everybody was elated at the news of the refinery being fully operational ; APC banger boys abused OBJ that said the refinery won't work years ago and the whole APC media were singing praises about how APC government finally made the moribound Warri and PH refineries work.
What happened when fact overtook the propaganda? 🧏 I'm not saying this because of the APC leader oh. I'm saying that any propaganda for a positive change is positive. Nigerian lady had her student visa terminated and has been asked to leave the UK immediately because she worked exceeding the 20 hours allowable for a student to work per week.
Context : she's a Nigerian student currently studying for her Bachelors degree in a UK university for the past 3 years. While in the UK her father who was her sponsor died and she fell into depression following the death of her father.
She claimed the only way for her to beat the depression was for her to be in company of people constantly. Because the UK is a busy country where u hardly have friends visiting each other regularly, the only way she can be around people all the time is to be at work. So, she claimed she unknowingly worked exceeding the regular 20 hours on few ocassions in her bid to escape depression that followed losing her dad.
The UK home office reached out to her, requested for explanation why she broke the law by working more than 20 hours a week and after reviewing her case she was asked to leave the UK with her degree program left hanging.
My Personal Opinion : The lady looks like one who would either harm herself or fall into greater depression when she finally gets back to naija. She's visibly broken and may never recover from this. For someone who was on first class but had to abandon her studies due to that infraction, I doubt she will ever heal Unfortunately for her, Nigeria has lost a lot of it's good will abroad. Any truth dey sound like lie. Her story reminds me of the need to have a family. Not necessarily your blood, but people that can offer you comfort when your chips are down No man or woman should go through life alone. It's tough. I pray her misfortune is turned around |
