That's the way I see it too. If the Naira had strengthened to 360, they would have rushed to cash it out of NAFEM.

It's one of the risks of doing business in an unstable environment as ours.
But it was the CBN that begged for their FX, and promised to provide it at a further date.

This won't speak well for us in the eyes of foreign investors.

When we say the north, we actually mean the people of the north. Not necessarily claiming the northern governors funded the agricultural efforts.

But u know the funny thing is the government of those northern states can actually stop food items from coming down south. The governor just needs to sign one yeye executive order and send state agencies officials to stop any truck coming down south with agricultural products.

That being said, our governors down south can actually encourage agriculture if they want to. They can provide agricultural loans with low interest rates to people interested in agriculture, give tax incentives and provide security for designated farm settlements such that herders who are caught with their hard on those farm settlement will be severely dealt with.

I mean we can also go ultra if we want to.
So who go come buy or chop the produce then?

we are nigerians. we know how it goes.

our soldiers and police are mercenaries for hire.

you have debt and your debor is misbehaving, you hire plice to harass him. your picker is running game on you, your hire abba kyari to deal with him. izzou is hiding igbo in his spare parts - he gets a soldier to escort the vehicle. all these work until you meet a person with more craze than you.

all these games corrupt police and soldier play as paid enforcers can also go sideways if they meet a person with more craze or resources than them.

in nigeria mediation simply means both sides try to outbribe the mediator

if that doesnt work over to plan b for the losing party
Most likely that whatever took them there was off the books.

Well, all that became over, the moment they killed the 16.

Not in Warri. I lived there for about 8 months in 2015. There was not a single issue at the time. Maybe someone living there can confirm if the checkpoints are still there.

You may be right that there's more to it but based on the unusual presence of military men when I lived there, I won't be surprised if they are invited to settle disputes.

And those communities are not just any community. They are oil rich communities.
I won't be surprised this was the issue.

In all the memos and disclaimer released by the NA, no mention of what Operation these 16 soldiers went for.

Abi na so anybody fit waka enter 82 Division, carry 16 soldiers with Major dey go him community?

I don't find it strange actually. I remember the first time I went to warri, I was seeing army check points within the town. Never seen anything like that before. Imagine going to Iyana Oworo from Oshodi and there's an army check point in Gbagada.

It does seem to me like people there have no regard whatsoever for police officers so their leaders tend to invite military officers when issues come up.
Can a community just go to a Division and invite the NA to come and settle dispute?

I am not talking about checkpoints. Military checkpoints are usually formed under a particular operation, of which it will be ended once the operation is closed.

So which one did they stary for Okuama that 16 soldiers will be there? A Community, not even a town.

And a Major dey there?

Omoh, there's more to the whole thing. Sadly, the community lost their voice to cry the moment they killed the soldiers

I wonder if the APC supporters now in the fore front of pushing potential Kanu release narrative would be humble enough to apologize to everybody they insulted for pushing for Kanu's release earlier
You see some reactions from the government, and you'll understand why nobody takes Nigeria seriously.

You arrest a man for terrorism. Labelled him and his group for it, then kept him for more than 2 years doing back and forth adjournment

Suddenly, we have forgotten all what he said and did, and we are thinking he will bring peace if he is released?

No wonder the whole North is littered with different banditlord, kidnapping and asking for unrealistic amounts. Instead of making one an example, we use politics to further damage our reputation.

I no blame UAE for not wanting to have anything to do with Nigeria. You cannot be watching how the FG handles issues, and not quickly close your borders to Nigerians.

You just can't

The death of these 16 soldiers just overshadowed important questions we should be asking, and then turned the hunter to the hunted.

Because, I cannot understand how soldiers were deployed to install peace between two communities

No Police man, even though the closest call to security is the Police station.

Na soldiers wey fit travel 100km from Barracks go do peace talks?

And what the flying fck is 4 Senior officers doing there? The NA will deploy a Major to go and settle dispute in a community? Are you kidneying me?

The truth remains hidden.

So u somehow believe that the same Nnamdi Kanu who blamed the federal government of Nigeria for the death of both parents (following the invasion of their compound the army) will suddenly put an end to attack of state actors simply cos he misses a warm bed?

What do u think fifth columnists like Simon Ekpa and his followers who have gained massive popularity within the group since Kanu's incarceration would do ? Won't they just label Kanu a sell-out for coming out of detention to sing a discordant tune ? Won't they just make him their enemy and even go as far as unaliving Kanu then blaming FG for it ?

No matter how u look at it, this Kanu issue is another Buhari-caused problem that will be a tough nut to crack for Tinubu or anybody that is Nigeria's president as long as Kanu is being held in detention.

That being said, I've been since yesterday evening seeing pro-APC supporters suddenly talking about now being time for Tinubu's government to release him. I'm wondering what changed ? Does APC now believe dialogue is the solution to the insecurity issue in the South East unlike what they believe under Buhari's govt ? Has this been communicated to Kanu himself hence that short court video to set the tone for discussions around the subject matter which already started that yesterday evening ?

I'm just thinking aloud .

Blow up oil pipelines and the president will withdraw his soldiers back to wherever he sent them from. Simple.

Have Deltan militants become weak or what?
But the Nigerian Government is not the enemy here.

It is a fellow Deltan community that used the Military to oppress their brothers

So even if the Army decides to read Matthew 6 and Psalm 51 just to forget, one of the communities will still plan to oppress the other one.

In some reports the Army kill babies and children in the North because they claimed they are Boko Haram babies and their blood has been polluted. Not stray bullet but snatch baby from mother and kill them
That's an example of what the North has faced from the same soldiers

Imagine say na South them just claim say babies na children of militants and start mass murder of children

I will say on the list of atrocities committed by Nigerian army since independence that has to be one of the worst even When you include Odi and ZakiBiam

I am talking about a specific issue.

Has the army done what I said they did in the SS in the north?
And it is statements like this that makes me question your ability to think for yourself

Just last year, 200 people were killed by the Army. They did absolutely nothing. Just innocent people living their lives.

Then 16 soldiers were killed. The Army retaliated, and you're asking me where it was done in the North.

So the army has been razing down communities (that are not warzones) that their personnel were ambushed or they had clash as retaliation.

(see how I have to break it down for you)
You really should think for yourself, instead of depending on X links all the time.

You posted news of 35 Military people killed. But you did not even take a second to think that those communities were eventually attacked by the Army. You assumed the Army were scared of retaliating.

But you need hardcore proof that the 8000 in question was innocent Northerners who were buying boli or waiting for a bike.
