Iamgrey5: No
They have not increased the test. They are still doing the same thing they did before the lock down.
The head the NDDC himself said yesterday that they are still testing half their capacity.
In a press conference on Friday, a representative of NDDC said they do not need to do house to house testing as done in other countries that implemented lock down because according to him" they are not in the race to test the most patients"
All this despite the fact that evidence as shown that testing and isolating is the most important activity to curb the spread of the virus.
In other African countries that implemented a lock down, Ghana has tested close to 100,000 people, South Africa close to 150,000 people in the same period as Nigeria. None of this countries has half our population.
Nigeria have only tested 10,000. People. Okay bro |

fortran12: People will die anyway. The flu has killed 62000 hunger kills many more. You can't cos of that ask people to stay home, you may reduce corona deaths or even suspend for a while ( as people with underlying illness will die of something else if not well taken care of) but hunger will kill not just the vulnerable but healthy too You did not answer the question. Is 50k deaths negligible? I am not disputing your hunger theory |

Iamgrey5: So if numbers are increasing what exactly does that mean?
Covid19 only takes 15 days incubation period to manifest itself, but in 27 days cases have moved from 50 to 600 and you claim the virus is not spreading
People are moving from Lagos, Abuja and Ogun state to Other states within that period to spread to other states and you claim it's not spreading.
Like you don't understand my earlier comment
Lock down is the simplest method of practicing social distancing by some countries with effective social security systems
Nigeria doesn't have the means or ability to implement a lock down that is effective so we need a new method of social distancing that is innovative Is it that you are enjoying this back and forth quotes, or you are deliberately forcing yourself not to understand me? Now we are currently on lockdown Is Iamgrey infected? No If the lockdown is lifted, is it possible for him to be infected? Obviously yes The reason why you are seeing increased numbers is because THEY HAVE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF TESTS. THEY HAVE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF TESTS. THEY HAVE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF TESTS. THEY HAVE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF TESTS If you conduct a test for 1 million people today, you'll see an increased number. It just shows you that these are the infected ones, not necessarily that they caught it today But if you remove the lockdown, it becomes more difficult to find them, and the infected ones(who don,t know) will keep spreading it. I hope your next quote wont let us dwell on this anymore |

So, i guess the 80,000 deaths in the USA should be insignificant then. Or what do you think? |
Health › Re: COVID-19: Lockdown Or No Lockdown - Which Side Are You? by izzou(m): 5:06pm On Apr 26, 2020 |
Iamgrey5: Nah
You the one that doesn't understand the purpose of a lock down, sorry to say.
Lock down is ensure that community spreading is limited, hence countries with a plan to implement the lock down have succeeded in limiting the spread..
However, in Nigeria the government had no plan and tested very little, hence the cases couti
in addition, they also provided very little social safety net because they have no idea or resources to implement social security that would Its like i used too much vocabulary The purpose of the lockdown is to reduce the spread, while they fish out those infected, and they will achieve that through testing Because the numbers are increasing doesn't mean its spreading. It means that they are increasing the number of tests done. Like i said, let them remove it. The confirmed cases will probably drop to 50 before Friday, since the lockdown is increasing it |

nitigriti: COPIED FROM FACEBOOK: It's a lock down something lets rack our brains a little
A rich noble man in Nigeria died.. He was half Indian and half Edo...He was so selfless and stinkingly wealthy, he died 01/10/1992. He had just one beautiful wife from Imo State, A spoilt son, One pretty house-maid, A loyal gate-man and a good driver.
Police men went to the house and interrogated them one after another.
Wife -: I left my hubby peacefully at home during breakfast oooo and while I was partying with my friends since it was our annual meeting hang out, the maid called me that oga was in his own pool of blood lifeless then I came home.
Maid -: Before madam comot for house, she send me go market to buy foodstuffs. As I come back na him I see oga body for sitting room, oga don die..
spoilt son-: I was out with my friends in the next hood playing PS4 when my phone rang that my dad was dead.. I rushed home and met his body
Driver-: I am so confused, early this morning oga sent me to the bank to withdraw some cash and I was shocked to have returned and met his lifeless body. OMG!!!
Gateman -: I be dey sleep for my gateman house as I work over night then for my sleep I hear the housemaid shout. Na him I wake up, I come run enter main house see say my oga body dey for ground with blood..
The police men laughed and arrested the murderer.
Question ? Who killed oga and prove it? The driver killed the man October 1 is a public holiday. So which bank him go withdraw? |

As at April 1st we had less than 200 cases As at April 26th we have over 1000 cases
Make we dey see as e go first. Sincerely, i do not wish people to die of hunger or anything. Nigeria has a poor healthcare system. We are not even running enough tests everyday. A city as big as Kano has a 600 bed isolation center. If this virus spreads, its still the poor that will suffer it. Is it a man living in a one room apartment that will self-isolate? If they lift it? No wahala. Until one loses his relative to this nonsense, we may not know how it feels |

Iamgrey5: Simple
1)New market day schedule for marketers
The leaders of the market would have to draw up a schedule that would ensure people come to markets to sell on different days of the week.
2) Members of task force would ensure people use mask by moving around those areas with loud speakers and providing face mask
3) Mobile sample collection centers would be set up to collect samples of people for testing within the market.
Innovation is needed in this situation
We can't wait till a vaccine is found till we open up our economy. We have closed our economy for a month and the cases are still going up.
What makes you think that by a months time that the cases would have reduced? You obviously don't understand the essence of the lockdown. The lockdown is to reduce the spread and discover the infected ones. The reason you have an increased number is because they have increased testing. When the lockdown started, only Lagos and Abuja was testing. Today, more than 10 states are testing If you run 50,000 tests this evening, you'll definately see over 2000 that are infected. Does it mean the number is increasing? No It means you just discovered potential carriers. But then, lets remove the lockdown. and see the numbers reduce drastically(according to you) |

If the Government can only do a little over 10,000 tests after 4 weeks of lockdown with no sustainable palliatives going round the whole country, what do you say to that?
The main objective of lockdown is to ramp up the numbers of tests being conducted but that is not the case here. We have many asymptotic people who have been denied testing So in your opinion, we should open everywhere and let everybody infect everybody, since the tests done are Still low? Carshopper: The curve can't be flatten (hard truth to swallow)- so many indices plays against it. Data which is critical is truly missing.
Testing is in question, health care is non existent.
Na to manage the situation while seeing people turn to statistics. (Hard truth to accept)
Palliatives can not be assured cuz it will be based on the most hit age bracket. Or it can not be sustained because for how long shall palliatives run.
Continual lockdown - you have to fight or mitigate between where the next uprising will come from, what will increase the stress on d non-existing health-care (if na hunger or the virus). Production and business economics failing, paying for infrastructure and it is not been productive.
Relaxed lockdown people go about with the covid19 preventive protocols, more educative awareness, enlightenment and enforcing strict rules within d population.
Locked or relaxed- numbers will increase How can social distancing be enforced in Lawanson market, Yaba, Idumota, Balogun or the likes? How can we observe Social distancing in Danfos or motorbikes? Even banks will first jampack people outside before they allow them to go in, in twos? Let them just remove it. Anyhow it eventually ends up is our fate. But saying enlightenment and enforcement? We both know that's not happen Just read through the comments of supposed "enlightened" Nigerians with the internet. Then imagine how an uneducated Nigerian would behave |

Since this Covid-19 pandemic started in December last year, infection and mortality rates in the 0 - 20 years population segment is less than 0.5% (my assumption, based on reporting in the US, UK, Spain, France, China); maybe 0% sef .
