TayserMahrii: Most Kenyans dont know Sarafina word for word but they know the catchy parts. There's even a parody, the one Xhosa was talking about. True, never heard of southies refusing to leave another country You love your country you proud suckers Didnt know the old skool SA music is on CD. Used to be on the casette tapes There's one used to be called Vuyelwa
Oh I see.Like most of us when we were kids we only knew the "go shorty it's ya birthday" part of "In Da Club" by 50 Cent?
I mean why would a South African refuse to go home when there's no hunger in the land? a South African can be can be basking in the bright lights of New York (a city non in South Africa can rival with) but he will still think of home
Long story short,we just hate longing desperate in other people's lands.
XhosaNostra: It's very quiet over here too. Not a soul outside. Everybody is indoors, presumably doing a countdown lol. It's a ghost own, very unsettling.
Lol @ bolded. It took you almost the entire day? You sure you didn't knead the dough & baked it yourself?
Not the whole day lol.Had to go to the garage cause naturally I just don't have patience for long queues.
XhosaNostra: Wait it out, I guess. It's not like there's another option. Got some books, magazines & games to occupy my restless soul in these trying times.
Stay safe
What's the situation like there in Pretoria? seems like most of the houses on my side are empty. For the first time ever there is a queue for shoppers at the doors of Pick n Pay.Never before has some pandemic virus forced people to move so quick in a short space of time.I swear this shìt looks like a real life 'Independence Day'
I just came back from hunting for bread as type this lol.
XhosaNostra: LMFAO @ my inyanga. Udlala ngam wena. Anyway, what are your plans for lockdown? I'm already bored, I won't lie.
For the first time ever I wish I could travel to all corners of South Africa in 24 hours.I think I'm just gonna collect a cheap whiskey to keep me sane for the 21 days lol.
chrisooblog: hot air as per usual with you guys. For someone that was asking me to go to bed what are you still doing up losing sleep on a Nigerian online forum? Anyway that's your business all the best with the quarantine stay safe so we can banter some more. Peace I'm out
IronGalaxy: The "front line states" as they were called which were at the forefront against the apartheid were Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Lesotho and Angola, however, you hear very little from these countries, the biggest noise comes from Nigeria which I don't get, even the UK which established the AAM ( Anti-Apartheid Movement) you never hear them claiming they single-handedly dismantled apartheid yet others are under the illusion they did
TayserMahrii: The biggest prob is funding for big projects and the copyright society failing to protect such gurus. Otherwise Kenyan films would do great, some have won awards internationally. Back in the day we grew acquainted with SA movies like the gods must be crazy and sarafina hence they are still popular in Kenya. Sarafina perfomances still sell out at theatres and attract huge crowds on the streets.
And nah, we cant be xenophobic to Southies. Kenyans are friendly and you guys are respectable. The closest you will come to experiencing it is Kenyans asking you to sing one of those mighty classy Vulindlela n Umqomboti songs
Opportunists out there trying to make a living out of other people's hardwork smh.I'm impressed,Kenyans know how to sing Sarafina word for word .Sarafina remains one of the greatest South African stories ever told,I never get tired of watching that film.
Then look out for the arrival of Jayceon .One thing about us South Africans that I can assure you is that you won't have to worry about us playing hide & sick with your immigration officers when our prescribed time in your country expires. You can never remind a South African to go home that's for sure.We respect other people's territories and we don't understand why others won't do the same in ours...hence xenophobia.
pacretus: the difference is that, we educated them at no cost. Africans are only against the few criminal SAns who loot shops and abuse fellow blacks, when the boers are the real problems, controlling over 80% of Southies resources.
I'm sure they will forever be grateful for that.I never said Nigeria did nothing,I'm just debunking this fallacy that Nigeria single-handedly brought Apartheid to its knees.Even you gotta admit how silly that sounds.
Not to be rude or anything but I think the bolded is a business no outsider should stick his nose in.Don't take a pill for another man's headache....thank you.
TayserMahrii: We got talent bro Pretty decent CGI. One or two guys wont venture out after watching that. Maybe you should visit Nairobi post-corona bro
You really do ...the next Steven Spielberg
I throw that into my bucket list.Seems like a beautiful place.Just don't be xenophobic towards me na
XhosaNostra: I came across one of his videos once, he also did a spoof on Serafina. It was quite impressive.
Kenyans seem to love the film, btw. Saw another video where some stage actors did a flash mob at one of their cities, dressed as the cast of Sarafina & singing the songs. That one too wasn't too bad.
neh, their cinematography skills are impeccable.I should start checking out their movies.
TMKsouth: SA Lockdown: Government forced to clarify what time it will start.
Some people believe that midnight on Thursday refers to the first minute of Thursday – essentially, passing over from 23:59 on Wednesday. Others, however, interpret it to mean the first minute of Friday morning. The debate has raged online, and the Head of Digital Communications in the Presidency has had to step in.
Athi Geleba has confirmed that South Africa’s three-week lockdown will officially begin on Thursday night, heading into Friday morning: The official time given is 23:59 on Thursday 26 March, for the avoidance of doubt. The last day of lockdown will be Thursday 16 April, all being well.
Haha that was funny. The ending though whoever made this video must consider directing serious horror movies. He got that eerie music right plus some impressive graphics.
TayserMahrii: Yea, some people dont even need medication, esp the young people. When the number hits hundreds its already a full blown crisis. Have you had deaths? This crisis has a very peculiar behavior that is replicated all over the world. At first people think it wont come home and when the first case comes people think it wont spread. So everyone including govt behaves normally while the virus continues to gain a foothold, untill the full storm arrives. So yea, you're right we should lock down now but as I said, everyone is like ahh is just a few cases, we should be ok for now. Cant be blamed, we havent dealt with this before. Currently the govt here is strict but not locking people, they are waiting for more substantive numbers (I guess hundreds like SA) to get to business.
We haven't recorded any deaths yet which is quite a relief..at least.Even here the government carried on as if all was normal until the number 200+
Have you realised it's like we live in a new reality, like we unveiled a curtain to a whole new world.American shows airing without audience.Yesterday I went to Pick n Pay and I couldn't believe when I saw the bread shelf almost empty. It's getting spookier by a minute out there lol.
