Many bad things happened under Apartheid, but starvation & brokenness was never part of our experience because there were more jobs than were people, unlike now. We lived comfortably & used to be shocked watching skeletal humans on TV, from other parts of Africa. In fact, for some odd reason, it almost felt like we didn't share the same continent with the rest of them because South Africans don't know famine. We never experienced it.
