TMKsouth: @bolded - Lol, I was expecting that Not the graphic sexual metaphor at the end though
Attacks As for residents looting the local shop even though they're friends I don't believe thats completely accurate. The people who will initiate the attack would often have criminal intentions or be from outside communities. The local residents would just take advantage of the looting that follows afterwards due to poverty (if they don't take someone else will, type of mentality). It's sick I know but that's how messed up the situation has become. Remember also that these attacks take place in deprived areas.
I always hear the argument that most countries in Africa also have poor people but they don't go around looting. A lot of analysis needs to go into that but so far some suggestions are that the persisting extreme inequality and psychological effects of apartheid are to blame - of which most African countries don't have to deal with.
Crime But it's an ongoing discussion that won't be solved anytime soon. Theres a lot of scapegoating in SA, I must admit, that foreigners are the cause of our problems, especially from politicians who have failed to offer people services. But there's also a lot of truth in that undocumented migrants are involved in crime - especially because SA is not the eldorado they hoped it would be, so it's steal or starve. Note that I'm not denying SA has its own criminals but locals find it extremely disrespectful when foreign people harm their hosts.
Jobs There's also truth in that migrants take low skilled jobs, especially in the services and agricultural sectors because they are willing to be paid far less - which is actually illegal. Go to many restaurants and you'll be served by Zimbabweans while the government doesn't penalise the employers for not adhering to employment quotas. Most Pakistani, Somali, Ethiopian and Nigerian shops in the CBDs don't hire South Africans because they would have to adhere to labour policies and pay them the minimum wage of which they're not willing to do. And that's just FACTS most foreign businessmen don't want to admit.
Frustration So often when South Africans bring up these issues they are quickly shut down by the pan-Africanist ANC government and the media has become too sensitive around xenophobia lest they be blamed for promoting it. The results then become an explosion of pent-up frustration from South Africans, of which later the whole world tags them xenophobic.
I hope I'm not being too biased - just thought I should voice out the less heard of point of view of this whole issue. Straight facts. |

TMKsouth: I'm more struck by his foolish claim that Lucky Dube was SA's only exportable talent. That time South Africa has 9 Grammy Awards . I guess this mumu lives under a rock. I saw that part and chose not to address it.If he wants to discuss music and who's better at it he better come direct.I don't entertain subliminal jabs lol |

afroxyz: Dont mind them. Their hatred for Nigerians is so much that they killed the only exportable musical talent in their country (Lucky Dube) because they thought he was Nigerian Incorrect,Lucky Dube was killed by kwerekweres from Mozambique because they thought Lucky Dube was a kwerekwere from Nigeria. Now the funny part in this is that you foreigners think SA is a ripe ground for your "African unity" pipe dream but still want to kill each other when you get here. TMKsouth: You're just an assault on our senses. You're loud, rude, disrespectful, boisterous, dodgy and South African life is simple, laid back and informed by the communal principles of Ubuntu.
When you're in those developed countries you are limited to your little so called "African villages" or "Little Lagoses" where the locals don't have to interact with u much unless you're professionals (who are often sensible).
Because SA is an African country we often have to share the same communities like Hillbrow, Berea and Yeoville who's buildings Nigerians have hijacked and turned into slums (it's a FACT, read up on it). And also because of the closer proximity SA attracts low value migrants unlike developed countries. So u end up getting to all sorts of mischief due to high unemployment levels - even the Kenyans and much of Southern Africa complain about Nigerians (you just don't respect your hosts if the policing is not effective enough), it's just that South Africans are especially vocal about it. Well...Damn

Anyway, he might not be a genius but all he needs really are the ideas and the vision. But I hear he's quite erratic and will be his own downfall. I sure will lol |
