Tessema cup is the under 20 qualification matches in Africa. It was named after the Ethiopian CAF president  before Issa Hayatou took over in 1988.
It works in a 1st leg/2nd leg kind of stuffs and i remember Nigeria dominated it for a while.
We won it 4 times consecutively(83, 85, 87 and 89) at a time before Nigeria was banned for using over-age players.
I can't really remember when it was changed from Tessema cup to African Youth Championship but i will put it between 89 and 91.
