@ Debosky,

Is that the yardstick?
How much was Ronaldo earning at 20? Was Ronaldo this influencial as Cesc when he was 20?
Blimey. . . . .Cesc(to some moronic Gaynners) is the best player in the premiership, innit?
I would expect him to be making around 80-100k pounds at least. . . .How much was Wazza making at 19? grin grin grin

U should have seen his post-match interview on saturday when he copped the Barclays BUBBLY.
All he said was. . . . ."I hope so, i hope i would be in Arsenal next season". How is that for commitment?
He wont leave Arsenal because of the money but the young Spaniard wanna win a title which he cannot WIN at Arsenal.
Can't u figure that out? Cesc may join Madrid for 10k per week. . . .all he needs in his CV is titles.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 2:01am On Apr 24, 2008
@ Debosky,

I thunk the onus was on Barca to WIN at HOME. . . . . Thats the way it should be.
How can u play Pique alongside Rio in the defence? Pique is Barca through and through . . . the occasion would get to him and make him lose his discipline. Brown was preferred as he has played with Ferdinand at the back before(easy decision for Fergie).
Pique can only be risked against small teams like Arsenal not a good club like Barca.

The injured players forced Fergie's hands to go defensive. . . . I dont blame him at all.
Trust me, the duel at OT will be more expansive. . . .Barca cannot shoot straight.
If they score 2 goals, United will bang 3 goals. . . .If the referee was brave, Ronaldo should have had anutha penalty or 2 more.
The defence played extremely well and Barca was clueless in the final third. . . .couldn't find their breakthrough. wink wink

Leave the game at SB to sort itself.
The worst United can get there is a closely fought DRAW like the Emirates. . . .
Our players dont get drained. . . .they were being rotated constantly to deal with these HUGE games.
Vidic and Anderson should be fresh. . . Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez are young and should be fit for saturday.
Add Rio, Evra, Hargo and Carrick to the mix and u have a formidable squad. I'd rather be a United fan tonight than a Barca fan.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Jackal1(m): 1:48am On Apr 24, 2008
@ Akolawole,

Honestly speaking, it baffles me.
This was why Ashley Cole slapped Cesc at the Emirates when the Spaniard attempted to break Ashley's legs. . . .
Its modern day SLAVERY. . . . To play that many games and get paid peanutz? Wenger is a slavemaster. cheesy cheesy
U cannot blame those boys for not winning titles. . . when u buy GRADE C eggs at LIDL, u shouldnt expect em to make a good omelette. grin cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 1:42am On Apr 24, 2008
@ Debosky,

Check the facts. . . . .

Vida was ill, Anderson wasn't fit too. . . . He had a thigh strain, Fergie couldn't risk him(he said so on MUTV).
Rooney was kept on the left axis to assist Evra to double up on rampant Messi(which worked well).
CR7 cannot chase like Wazza does so he was prefered to lead the attack. . . . The trick worked against Roma. . . . i see no reason why it shouldn't work in Camp Nou. . . .If Ronaldo's spot kick had sailed into the net, we woulda seen a different game. . .
Are u going to blame Ronaldo's miss on Ferguson too?

United will edge Barca at Fort Knox.
The last time i checked, United have won 11 European matches back to back at OT.
Milan, Roma(TWICE), Lyon, Lille and so many other teams bit the dust at Old Trafford, Barca wont be different.
There's no way United won't outscore Barcelona. . . . .United's attack is more potent.
Write em off at your own peril. . . . .Barca has lost their chance to advance to the final.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 1:33am On Apr 24, 2008
@ Akolawole,

God Bless You. grin grin grin grin grin
Debosky lacks retentive memory!!!!!!!
What about the other night they were playing Porto AWAY?
Arsenal and Porto kept the ball within themselves knowing a DRAW would put em to the knock-out stages.
Hypocritical scumbags!!!!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Jackal1(m): 1:26am On Apr 24, 2008
@ Debosky,

Before u start with Dayokanu, have u seen Kolo Toure's interview on Setanta blaming Gallas for Arsenal's trophyless season?
Just when i thunk i have seen/heard it all then this bombshell. . . . .
Besides, Flamini is close to moving to Juventus. . . . .Like i predicted, these players cannot be with an under-achieving team like the Arses.
Fabgregas also hinted he hopes he would be in Arsenal next season. . . .hope? Wenger is in trouble. cheesy cheesy cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 1:19am On Apr 24, 2008
@ Debosky,

Give Fergie some credits. . . . .

Vidic's stomach bug probably forced his hands to play the way he did.
Hargo as RB destroyed Fergie's blueprint. . . . .Vida was fit when they left England only to get to Spain to go under the weather.
He had to push Brown to the middle and that was the real McCoy!!!!!

Nevertheless, United felt the need NOT to concede. . . . .Its a safer option playing in an AWAY game.
U wouldn't bet against United playing that way if Barca had scored. . . Maybe u should see the Lyon AWAY game. . .
Watch United's comeback when Benzema got their 1st goal. . . . .United have shown they can play some real attacking footie when its required.
Arsenal saw that side of Man Utd some weeks ago. . . . .Next week's game will be different, Barca will crash out!!!

@ D-reloaded,

I see. . . .

Maybe people should draw the line between tongue-in-cheek and stating the facts.
Too much Nigerians in the UK doesn't equate it to Lagos by any means. . . .Too much Igbo people in Germany doesn't make it Onitsha, does it?
Only a complete doofus would compare Lagos to London. . . .
I cannot really blame any British Nigerian having a go at the people making such dud comparisons. tongue tongue

@ Nazzyon,

Its getting frustrating. . . .
I pray everytime for Giggs to have an injury that will rule him out of the season. . .
When u need Giggsy, he is out injured or one other factor. . . When u dont need him, he is fit. . . .Isn't life a bitch?

Fergie has got decent replacements everywhere he looks.
Anderson, Park, Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez and Nani can all play on the left flank.
Why play Giggsy consistently even when he doesn't contribute effectively? Its insane!!!!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 11:16pm On Apr 23, 2008
@ Nazzyon,

Fergie is human. . . . .and sentimental. cheesy cheesy cheesy
Giggsy should not be wearing a RED SHIRT at all. . . . .Chris Eagles is better than him.
He was the cause of the DRAW in Boro and Blackburn. . . . .Fergie had to pull him off @ HALF TIME.
What was the point starting him when he was gonna be subbed after 45 mins. . . . He is a complete wack-ass.
I mean. . . . He is a great ambassador but he shouldn't put himself at risk of being a villain. United fans are getting impatient.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 11:02pm On Apr 23, 2008
@ Doyin13,

United should edge it at OT!!!!!
The sides that trounced Milan 3-2 last season and walloped Real Madrid 4-3 in 2003 are def'ly weaker than this squad.
My only worry is United didn't really have a GO. . . . I'd rather we had a go and the game ending 0-0 than what i saw today.
It was more like. . . we have a great DEFENCE, come and score us. . . .SHOW US WHAT U GOT!!!!
The whole scenario was ugly. . . .Fergie better get it right at OT!!!

P.S. I think Ronaldo shoulda had a 2nd penalty when he breezed past Marquez or when Yaya Toure scythed him from behind.

@ Nazzyon,

Giggsy slows us down a lot . . . . Scholes is no longer what he used to be when he is pressed, Michael Carrick is a slow donkey.
Just imagine what ANDERSON coulda done against Xavi and Iniesta?? I cant believe Ferguson left him out of the whole action tonight.
Its pathetic. . . . . . .It now bores down to who outscores each other . . . . . . What a heap of fuckery.
Giggsy should declare himself UNFIT for the rest of the season and let Park/Nani continue where he stopped.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 10:32pm On Apr 23, 2008
@ Nazzyon,

Of course. . . . .I know the 2nd leg would be explosive. . . .

United should turn on the heat at Old Trafford.
No cagey stupid game against a dire Barca side that play like Arsenal. . . .
However, dont u think its about time Fergie ditches Giggsy?? That ol' man should be allowed to go in PEACE.
There's no pub in Northern England today that pundits are not asking the same question. . .
I think it's about time Giggsy moves on.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 10:08pm On Apr 23, 2008
@ Nazzyon,

Just saw Fergie's interview now. . . . .He said SCHOLESY was his man of the match.
He was the only one that won tackles after tackles and kept/used the ball well outta the lotz.
The only excuse here is. . . . United players are not designed to play this crooked way. . . This is a rape on the die-hard fans.
Blimey . . . . . I was thinking an explosive match. . . . . Maybe if Ronaldo had buried his penalty kick then we could have had an explosive tie.
There was me thinking it would end 3-3.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 9:47pm On Apr 23, 2008
@ Nazzyon,

To be frank, i think Scholes was better than Carrick on the night.
Michael Carrick had a stinker of a game and i was wondering why Ferguson didnt unleash Anderson.
Anyways, it must be the Gaffer's instruction to his players. . . . . .
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 9:39pm On Apr 23, 2008
@ Doyin13,

2 of the best managers in Europe have CONSPIRED to produce the dullest, crappiest, most useless semi final game in the history of the UCL.
What was Ferguson thinking? Rooney and Tevez were just wasted. . . . . He should have kept em on the bench.
There was no point playing em at all in a game of this magnitude. . . . Why not play 10 defenders for 90 minutes?

Rijkaard on his part was also shambolic.
One expects a side playing at HOME to add some urgency to their game. . . . It was like they were just happy to keep the ball.
No sense of urgency or ambition to force a goal. . . . .The whole game was just all talk-no show.
Bleep the 2 gaffers for coming out with such senseless approach.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 8:36pm On Apr 23, 2008
@ SAM MILLA,

Its a poor display from Man Utd by their own standards . . . Although United should have had a 2nd penalty.

What was all that cagey game about. . . . . .
We can HURT Barca defence as much as they can hurt ours. . . . so what the Bleep??
Fergie's too cocky when it comes to AWAY games in Europe.

Go Gung Ho. . . .If they score, so be it. . . .
We can score as well. . . .0-0 result will be a disgrace for a United side packed with so much FIREPOWER.
Wazza is just wasted where he is being stuck. . . .Let him play in the middle with Ronaldo and letz see some action.

Barca's playing like Arsenal. . . . .Plenty of possession footie, no end product in the final third.
I don't want United to wait till Barca score a goal before rallying around to get the decisive away goal.
HOLY TRINITY . . . . Where ya GUNS @?

How could he have missed a penalty in this kinda match.

For bleeps' Sake . . . . .

Rijkaard is not even keeping to plans. . .
Is he trying to go 4-4-2 against Man Utd?
The only recognised strikers are Etoo and Leo Messi. . . . .

He left Henry, Bojan, Giovanni Dos Santos and Eidur on the bench. . . .
Then its Xavi, Deco, Iniesta and Yaya Toure in the midfield.
What is wrong with these Catalans?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 7:16pm On Apr 23, 2008
Wes Brown in the heart of the defence gives me worries.
I just dont like players like Vidic missing the big one. . . . GREAT players are made for an occasion like this.
What was the Serb thinking? Bloody hell!!!!!!!

United's back four is unsettled for me . . . I'd rather the full backs are changed around than the centre-halves.
Rio-Vidic axis is the best in Europe. . . . . Samuel Etoo or Messi will make a mince meat of Wesley. . . .
The middle of the park is also a worry. . . . .Can Scholes cage Deco and Iniesta. . . . . Why not Anderson?

Anyways, game on. . . . .I thank God the HOLY TRINITY is featuring.

@ D-reloaded,

I have warned u times without number to stop generalising. . . .

Just because u have some pseudo-authoritative, priggish and pest-natured scums as pals dont mean everyone in the UK thinks that way.
Why should i tell any Nigerian to go back to Nigeria? Whatz ma bizznizz with where he wants to reside?
No one is doing some ass-licking here but comparing Lagos to London is a bit taking STUPIDITY too far.

Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion but there are some comparisons that exude foolishness in the top drawer.
Its becoming prevalent these days for some twats to spew that London/Lagos are in the same league.
All u need to see is how other European countries are moving en masse to the UK when some countries were allowed to join the EU.
The facts speak for itself. . . . .I wont even waste words anymore.

@ Loyika,

I dont really see anyone leaving Man Utd. . . .
Ferguson wont sell SAHA unless he needs him as a part exchange for Benzema or Huntelaar. . . .
Lets hope Manucho gels quick. . . .

Everyone was hoping Wesley Brown would leave but the plonker signed the dotted lines . . . .
Silvestre would still be there and Neville has still got a season left in him. . . .
I cant really see any exit. . . . .most of em players are happy to be with United.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 4:11pm On Apr 23, 2008
@ Loyika,

Huntelaar? Ben Arfa? David Villa?
Dude, the money bags will get there ahead of u . . . . . .With Peter Kenyon around, he will lap up those deals before Arsene knows wasssup?
United is poised to pounce on Huntelaar too so United will be signing him if he shows any interest of coming to the PREM.

Anyways, which players are leaving?
I dont see the sense in retaining Diaby, Djourou, Senderos, Traore and even Lehmann.
And again. . . . . Will Gallas retain his captaincy?

Iniesta . . . . .He is the best midfielder in the world.
He's got incredible balance, pace, grit, composure, can thread passes and score too.
Deco is a sly bastard but i expect Anderson and Hargo to stifle Deco!!!!!

No penalty in this game unless someone acts STUPID.
I wanna see crisp passes, dribbles, flicks, high tempo game and goalzzzzzzz. . . . .
A score draw will do for Man Utd. . . . Barca will be pulverised at OT(for shizzle).

Makalele's wealth of experience sets him apart.
There was nuthing he could have done to stop Kuyt scoring last night when Lampard goofed at the edge of the box.
Chelsea fans should be happy they have such a calm player in their midst. . . Look at the way he withdrew his legs in the last second when he was going for the challenge to stop Kuyt. . . . That coulda easily been a penalty and a red card but Makalele didnt get carried away.
That was class and composure on his part.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal1(m): 2:58pm On Apr 23, 2008
@ Loyika,

Xavi and Deco? They are lightweights. . . . .
The real McCoy is INIESTA( He is by far the best CM in the world). . . .He has got the pace of Messi and the eye of Hleb to thread passes.
Ferguson would have given Barcelona a gift if he starts Scholesy/Giggsy in this game.

United should play Carrick, Anderson and Hargreaves in the Midfield(Scholes played the whole 90 on saturday, he might not start today)!!
Nani, Ronaldo and Rooney upfront. . . . . Tevez can replace Nani later in the game to freshen things up.
The back four virtually picks itself. . . . . Brown could be replaced by Gazza though but can Neville be up n running to match Bojan n Henry?

Rio and Vidic will be well protected by Hargo and Anderson. . . .
Barcelona will find it hard to break through that FIREWALL . . and how they cope with United's counter amuses me already.
Leo Messi? Wazza and Evra can do a double whammy on the dimunitive whizkid on the left hand side.

@ Slimghost,

Hargreaves is the Canadian.

Your formation is great but Ferguson wont be starting the HOLY TRINITY against Barca.
It is always safer to leave one or two aces on the bench. . . . Fergie wont be risking his top guns for 90 mins when Chelsea is next on the menu.
Tevez will be on the bench with Park/Nani completing the TRINITY in the first half. . . . .

@ Akinalabi,

We can beat Barca 3-0 @ Camp Nou but everything depends on Fergie's selection. . . .
If he plays Giggs and Scholes in this game then draw or a slim defeat is what we should expect.
However, if he goes into the game without sentiments. . . . .United is good enuff to beat Barcelona. . .

United have a better goalie. . . have a better defence. . . . have a better midfield and the attack is at PAR!!!!!
What Messi-Etoo-Bojan can do, the HOLY TRINITY can do much better. . . . .73 goals this season alone tells the story.
I cant call this one as everything hinges on Fergie's selection/formation.
