To those people that choose their spouses for all the wrong reasons and later discovered that marriage is much more complex than their personal needs, and to those that choose their spouses from a sincere heart of love or whatever the case might be. Had it been that you were given another chance to start all over again, would you still choose to start over with your present spouse?



Considering the fact that people’s eyes only get opened when they have finally settled down with their spouses, because that’s the time that they actually start revealing their true selves. Would you even give him or her a second thought? Somebody was saying one time that “courtship brings out ‘the best’, while marriage brings out ‘the rest.’” I believe you can guess what ‘the rest’ represents in this case.



Marriage is one school that has no graduation date and those that went into it unprepared never came out with a pleasant story. If couples could learn to invest half the time they invested in the planning of their wedding on their marriage, then there wouldn’t be so many unpleasant stories about marriage like we’re witnessing presently. Everyone is looking for that perfect somebody and they fail to realize that marriage is a team play that isn’t dependent on the qualities of one partner alone but on both.Even if some people would eventually have that perfect somebody, that isn’t in existence anyway, they’re still going to experience problems in their marriage because they would fail to make themselves what they’re looking for in their spouse.



You see so many people looking for ways to work on other people and try to change them into what they want them to be but fail to do anything about their own flaws. This is one of the major reasons for the various problems confronting marriages today. Spouses always try to change their partners but do nothing about themselves. To them ‘if you can’t take them the way they are, then you don’t love them or deserve their love.’




When you keep seeing wrong in other people and always try to change them because you think you’re better, then you have much more problems than can be imagined. Majority of the marriages that are troubled today are that way because somebody is trying to change somebody that is using all the energy he/she has to resist such change. Instead of trying to change your partner why don’t you work on yourself and try to change yourself first. It’s by so doing that you can understand where the real problems plaguing your marriage are actually coming from.

Just like the holy books says, take the wood from off your eyes first before you can see clearly enough to take off that from your partner’s.’ But no, we always want to take that from others first and do nothing about ours thereby resulting in bias judgment from our end and the problem always get aggravated the more.




Having a lovely and enjoyable marriage doesn’t mean the marriage is devoid of disagreement or chaos periodically. But it’s the steps and effort both partners put into ensuring that such misunderstanding does not disrupt the unity and companionship that they share that count. They understand that for their relationship to work out fine, they have to be ready to let some things slide - compromise. They don’t always stand their ground and impose their will.




Marriage is a game for two with willingness to learn new things and also unlearn some things that would serve as a hindrance to the advancement of their marriage.Those who are quick to judge others actually have much more strains in their marriages than those that are not. They fail to understand that humans are different and are brought up under different environments and settings than theirs. They fail to understand that a person’s upbringing influences to a great extent on how he or she does things and relate to those around them........,

WHY YOU ARE YET TO HAVE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR

Imagine someone wanting to buy a 50litre gallon of fuel but went to the fuel station with just a 10litre gallon and expect to have a 50litre worth of fuel in it. Where are the remaining 40litres going to be kept? This is how most of us are. We are praying for the next level and expect God to take us there at once without considering our readiness and preparation for such level. No wonder we’ve been where we are for such a very long time and we have started thinking that maybe God is partial when we see those that we are supposedly older than in our field or ministry overtake us. Yet we never bother to ask ourselves what is it that we’ve been doing wrongly and how we’re going to correct that so that we’ll be taken to our rightful positions?


There is a huge difference between wanting something and being ready for something. Most of us only ‘want’ and we feel that so far we have the desire for that thing; it signifies that we’re ready for it. Hence our job is just to sleep and wait for that thing to come to us. It may never come. why? Because such things only go to those people that are prepared for it by being able to ‘build their capacity’ for it.

We may never realize that by building our capacity for the next level in our profession or whatever we’re looking for, we place ourselves in a position where what we’re looking for can easily locate us. You may be seeking promotion or seeking to get to a particular level for a very long time but it has not been forth coming. How have you been able to build yourself character-wise or professionally so as to show your readiness for such level?

How do you build capacity for something? Let me give a little illustration here to give us a clearer view; imagine a single lady of marriageable age looking for a man that is tall, handsome, rich, god-fearing etc, and all she thinks she has to do to get such kind of man is just to sit, maybe pray and hope such a person would come her way because she thinks that just by having a pretty face and a great shape qualifies her for such a man. She might never bother to ask herself what such categories of men would also be looking for in their own kind of lady. Or what’s likely to attract and keep such categories of men to someone like herself other than her pretty face or physique? When we fail to prepare ourselves for those things we are looking for, we fail to put ourselves in the position for those things to come to us. You can’t have the capacity of a gateman or a receptionist and expect to be made the managing director of your unit or corporation, also you can’t have the capacity of a managing director and remain in a lower position for a long time because your capacity is certainly going to show in all that you do and speak for you.

Your readiness for something will show the extent of your desire for that thing. How have you been able to show your readiness for the level or position that you have been seeking for? How have you been able to improve on your job or your way of doing things in conformity to what you’re looking for? Don’t just sit down and wish, invest your time into making yourself what you’re looking for and you will never be left out when the vehicle of promotion and upliftment comes around.

People that are ready for the next level always get there no matter how long it may take; they certainly will get there. Let the way you do your job and relate with the people around you speak of your readiness for the next level.
