Yobo needs to understand that . . .

Players come and players go . . . Captains come and captains go . . . Its the team that remains.

However, I agree with his point that the head should ensure communication with his team. Its his sole responsibility! Most European managers do this. Whenever a 'supposed' top player is not relevant to them, they call you and let you know. "Dude, you are not within my plans for the team"

Thats the way it should be. No dilly-dally.

Business / Re: GTB Freezes My Account For False Loan by jagabanban: 11:12am On Apr 04, 2013
Question is, how was the loan taken? Which documents did you sign obtaining the soft loan? Did you just walk into the bank and asked for a loan and it was granted based on verbal discussions? Let them provide the necessary documents. I am surprised their Internal Audit did not investigate to this level.

Something is fishy! I suspect its human error. If GTBank cannot prove you took the loan, they'll have no choice than to write it off. Its very basic!

And if all that does not work, result to bad publicity for the bank on FB, twitter (cc GTBank twitter handle) and the likes. Someone will contact you. I can assure you of that.

Nigeria Police image is so battered . . .

They turn to the proverbial 'lizard', that nods its head in self-praise, anytime they record a success story on any aspect of their work.

Good to note that the Youth Corper was rescued safe and sound. That's what matters. Even if the police is not forth-coming on the amount of amount paid.

Loving the new angle to this story.

Mazi is massively exploring the thread, and using the subtle influence he has garnered over his readers, to enlighten on the dangers of HIV and the rampant stigmatization of carriers of the virus.

Good work 'Ogbuefi'!

These are the typical questions that run through the mind after such a news - who, how, why, . . .

The real question now should be what next. This determines how you live your life going forward.

FRSC does not need to do any safety campaign. All vehicles are boldly fitted with this warning. People simply choose to ignore it. See what the woman has caused the innocent girl. In advanced countries, she would be charged with involuntary manslaughter or something. Simply reckless!

RIP to the innocent soul.

Meddler: FRSC shud do a better job of enlightening people of car safety. I see this everyday - mother's carry their young ones on their lap sitting at the passenger's side or children sitting at the passenger's side.

If you own a car then I assume you could afford a car seat for children under a certain age or afford to practice better car safety. People are just not informed. No need to waste precious life like this kid. Its so sad.

May her little soul RIP

Travel / Dana To Resume Operations Immediately by jagabanban: 9:51am On Mar 19, 2013
The airline had a meeting with Nigerian aviation officials on Monday.

The management of Dana Airline said on Monday that the company would resume flight operations on Tuesday.

The airline made the announcement in a statement issued by its spokesman, Tony Usidamen, in Abuja.

According to the statement, the scheduled resumption is due to the lifting of the temporary suspension on the airline by the Federal Government on March 15.

“We are pleased to announce that the airline has been given approval to resume flight operations with immediate effect following the temporary suspension of our operations on Saturday.

“Scheduled flights will now commence on Tuesday, March 19, on the Lagos-Abuja-Lagos route,” it stated.

Dana’s statement followed the outcome of the meeting its officials had with aviation authorities.

Officials of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority met with the Dana management team in Abuja and deliberated on some safety issues in connection with the operations of the airline, Joe Obi, the aviation minister’s spokesperson said.

“At the end of the meeting, the suspension of the operations of the airline which took effect last Saturday was lifted. The airline is to resume normal operations immediately.

However, the particular aircraft which had a snag over the weekend is to remain grounded until after its air-worthiness has been recertified by Boeing, the manufacturer of the aircraft,” Mr. Obi said.

Sicozone: Being privileged to count the offering paid by an average church.....I discovered the most common currency note is #20.....how true?...your view and opinion pls...

This title is quite misleading. When I first saw it, I expected to see currecies including Naira, US Dollars, Pounds etc in the write up. You are actually refering to the most common denomination of the Naira currency. Well, from what I Know in the chucrh weher I worship, the most commin is the N50 denomination, followed by N20.

In a way, you may be right.

There are no dots!

Its an optical illusion.

According to wikipedia.org, this particular illusion is "a scintillating grid illusion. Shape, position, colour, and 3D contrast converge to produce the illusion of black dots at the intersections"

Literature / Re: Bus Rapid Transit(BRT):Grammatical Error by jagabanban: 5:17pm On Mar 06, 2013
The concept of BRT actually started in Brazil in 1974 and it was known as Ônibus rápido de trânsito (Rapid Bus Transit when translated to English rom Portuguese). However, the acronym BRT was adopted. Most people that are not familiar with this history tend to think it means Bus Rapid Transit, which it actually does if you do a literal translation.

So, adoption of the acronym BRT is really out of convenience and not necessarily to achieve any grammatical or literary correctness.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Was Nani's Red Card Justified? by jagabanban: 10:07am On Mar 06, 2013
Referrees are required to apply the rules as contained in the FIFA rule book. The obvious questions the ref would have asked himself are:

1. Was it a dangerous challenge?
2. Were the studs showing?
3. Could the other player have been seriously injured?
4. Is it card offence?
5. What colour of card?

All these questions are asked and answered by the ref within seconds of the offence been committed.

Please note that there is no where in the rule book for the ref to judge if the tackle was intentional or not as the ref cannot read the player's mind and is not required to. He may, however, apply his discretion in the colour of card to be issued.

Coming back to this tackle. Going by the FIFA rules, the ref was not out of place to have issued a red card.

Family / I Only Have S'E"X With Married Men by jagabanban: 9:08am On Mar 06, 2013
— Lee Romain says flings IMPROVE marriages, and feels no guilt
— Serial mistress reveals she will NEVER date a single man again
— Attached men 'are wonderful - they are well trained by their wives'

SERIAL mistress Lee Romain reckons married men make better lovers – and insists that far from wrecking marriages, her flings actually IMPROVE her fellas’ relationships.

The 44-year-old business consultant says: “I prefer them because they’ve only had one woman to please for a very long time before they meet me — and it’s much easier to perfect their skill.

“Married men are wonderful — they tell you that you are beautiful, they take you out for delicious meals, they give you presents and have lovely manners, as they are well trained by their wives.

“Because so many of the men I meet hardly get any sex from their wives they are so grateful in bed and they really want to please you. I’m definitely not looking to split up marriages — I think I actually enhance them.

“Some of the men I see say their marriages are much better because they are having sex with me. They go home much happier to their wives. One man stopped seeing me because his sex life with his wife improved so much.”

Politics / Re: FG Sets-up N3bn Fund For Nollywood by jagabanban: 7:47am On Mar 05, 2013
PointB: Nollywood is one of the biggest industry in Nigeria, and of course Nigeria biggest cultural export. Any support rendered to them can only be seen as wastage by the 'retardeen choir' and allied bigoted crew because they lack the objectivity and foresight to know better.

Kudo to the FG for this initiative for the second time running.

I disagree with your first point that Nollywood is one of the biggest industries in Nigeria. What is the 'monetary value' of Nollywood that makes it one of the biggest. In my view, its probably in the 25th percentile of industries in terms of value. However, one cant deny the fact that it is currently Nigeria's biggest cultural export. I currently work with some Kenyans on a project and you need to hear how highly they speak of Nigerian movies and the wide acceptance in their country. They are usually surprised when I tell them of how little we value tham here. As Jesus said, "a prophet is without honour in his own country". I hope thay put the fund to good use sha, and avoid the usual controversies that has trailed similar funds.
Politics / Re: Ojodu Has The Best Power Supply In Lagos by jagabanban: 7:36am On Mar 05, 2013
I used to reside in Lagos and while I would agree that power supply in Ojodu is better than what is obtained in most parts of Lagos, I disagree with the statistics of 21 hours given by @ OP. A plausible reason for the good supply Ojodu enjoys is that a former MD of NEPA has a house around the Aina axis, and anytime he is in town, NEPA becomes 'born again' . . .

@ Mazi,

My candid opinion is that you consider all feedbacks received via this medium. The feedbacks would come in only 2 forms, either positive or negative. Do not disregard any! The positive feedbacks are meant to encourage you while the negative are areas where you require improvement. "Rome was not built in a day". I believe you would be the first person to admit that you are not there yet. If that is the case, take negative feedbacks in the true intention that they are given - to make you a better writer.

Business / Seni Hazzan: Living His Dream by jagabanban: 7:58am On Feb 28, 2013
I was opportuned to listen to this man a couple of days ago, and he has further inspired me to continue pursuing my dreams no matter the obstacles. I did a little google search on him and came about this interesting interview he granted The Nation Newspaper in August 2012. You would find it inspiring too . . .

You may call him the American dream; you may also refer to him as the Nigerian homeboy who took America by storm. Whichever way you choose to describe him, Seni, as he is known by all, is a phenomenal story of a man who took charge of his destiny. From an indigent home but armed with a premium mind, he cleared all sort of hurdles to study at Yale University; he then took on Wall Street and today, he is an investment advisor, entrepreneur, author and an acclaimed speaker. His is the narrative of Nigeria at her best; a foretaste of what might have been had Nigeria struck the right chord.

Literature / Re: Police Brutality (fiction) by jagabanban: 12:01pm On Feb 26, 2013
"Thank God say no be me kill am", the mobile policeman who had earlier aimed his rifle at the motorcyclist shouted in enthusiasm as he alongside his "cohorts" grabbed the tipper driver and began accusing him of murder

The above statement typifies the thinking of the average policeman. While the story may be fictional, it clearly lends some credence to the widely condemned albeit rampant cases of police brutality.
