well most do. i am confused whether they sell it or use it themselves. i think both. undecided
Most of the people with rasta that I know are vegans who dont smoke anything. So, your experience there is different from mine.
CultureRe: Share Your Experiences of Racism by JallowBah(f): 4:44am On Sep 02, 2012
You are really sinking to that level?Using my husband pic to try something?
So..all jamaicans sell drugs? All people with rasta sell drugs? Nah, we dont even smoke anything, so..meh.

As for your last post, not even going to respond to that.
FamilyRe: Parents With Young Children And Phones by JallowBah(f): 4:17pm On Sep 01, 2012
I do think its much because they see us talking on them, carrying them arounnd, so they understand that its something WE like, and well..kids want to be and do like we dowink
My husband gave our child an old phone, with a sim-card in, to play with. No money on it, though, and we had to check that she didnt push buttons for emergency calls..we would call it now and then, and she lovedd it.
Still, whenever my phone rings, she runs over, saying "halloooo?" and "heiaaaaa!" ( norwegian language for hello and hi ), and tries to take it from me.

They learn fastwink

Much of these things can, and should, be taken in earlier.

dayokanu: The child on her back looks like every other kid in Naija.

Doesnt look mixed
Might be a kid from the husbands family, or her own. Many mixed kids look completely african.

And for the story; One of the reasons this story gets big is because she is living in Nigeria. She choose the life there, over the life here. Now, for nigerians or africans, that might not seem like much..but look at how most white people picture Africa when they think about it. For them, it IS a big deal, and a big invoremental change.

And, most of the mixed marriages dont last too long..the majority of them last for up to five years, in my country that is, so that makes it selling extra.
CultureRe: Share Your Experiences of Racism by JallowBah(f): 3:50pm On Sep 01, 2012
How are these pics showing racism?
The first one, I would need a stiry on..for all I know, he might be a young boy who is lost, and they dont know where his parents are.
The second; I am guessing the dude smelled like shit..

My husband has gotten some racism, yes. Or discrimination, it depends how you see it.
- People have asked him if he sells drugs when he is walking alone with the pram, and the baby in it. Just because he is black.
- People tells me to be careful maybe he only want me for papers in EU. Just because he is black.
- People have denied him access to pubs, saying they dont want his kind there. Again, black.
- People have asked if I am being forced to wear a hijab now that we are married. - Muslim.
- People have moved away when he sits down on the bus, I would dare to think because he is black.

I have had racism against me for being white to, from black men and women.
But, thats probably not what you were after.

Of course true love is there.

Just dont expect it to be a walk in the park and always cloud nine, though.
RomanceRe: How Do You Prove You Love Your Partner? by JallowBah(f): 2:03pm On Sep 01, 2012
By doing things for him I know he likes. Small and big things. Having the food ready before he comes home. Buying his favourite drink/candy from the shop without him asking. Getting him something I know he needs or want, but never gets around to get himself. Picking up his dirty socks that he left on the floor without complaining about itwink
Letting him go watch football with the boys. Giving kisses. Remembering the beginning together.

Things like that. Not everything has to be put in words either, even though it is good, and important, to tell your partner you love them.

Onnari: I will make sure to keep an eye on your blogwink

I have learned MUCH from african women, to be honest. Where I am from, its cold 9months of the year, so you have to wear superwool to keep hot. But they come in all colours, so for ME its no stress to have it under dresseswink Women in Norway tend to dress down instead of up, and use "safe" colours, and not much patterns. I love colours, I love patterns. It takes just as long to put on a nice dress, as it takes to put on jeans and a t-shirt!

I do need to start out easy, though..

The people here putting out their websites; do you ship all the way to Norway? And; how much would that cost??
FashionRe: That's Sew Naija! - Fashion Designers,tailors,accessory/jewelry Makers, Join In! by JallowBah(f): 11:28pm On Aug 30, 2012
This inspires me! I feel like getting out my machine and make clothes right now..

If anyone have links to sites or videos on how to make different dresses, african style..let me know, please.
I have some african dresses I dont use anymore, and some a friend gave me, where I dont like the shapes, they are two-pieces. Am thinking about changing them into one-pieces, but not sure what kind..

Help?smiley

I`m not going there either, but.

This kinda marriage happens all the time. Too many boys fool women just to get papers..they stay together for the years they need, and ass soon as they have the passport: divorce. Its sad.

Money talks; you can always find someone to pay for doing this, instead of breaking someones heart.
RomanceRe: Can You Kneel Down For Your Spouse?... Either As A Man Or As A Lady. by JallowBah(f): 11:20pm On Aug 30, 2012
On topic:

I have gone down on my knees ONE time for my husband, after I said something really hurtful. Actually, two times..I decided to welcome him the old-fashion way when we where living in Gambia, for fun; water in my hands, down on one kneewink

He has done it for me ONE time as well. He really messed up, let his temper get him, and broke something in the house, over a misunderstanding. I always yell back when I am angry, but this time, I was completely silent. He knew he f`ed up.

I would do it again, do show him I am really sorry, if I was to do something hurtful.
FamilyRe: Calling Your Mum's Big Brother "Uncle": Despicable Or Not? by JallowBah(f): 11:16pm On Aug 30, 2012
In my husbands culture, fulani, the bigger brothers of your father is referred to as Bappa, as in big father.
The younger brothers are uncles.

On the mothers side, its uncle( cow ), and auntie ( yaye ).

In Norway, uncle our aunt is the proper thing.

RomanceRe: A Tattoo Of Your Partner's Name Means True Love by JallowBah(f): 8:03pm On Aug 29, 2012
The fact that my husband is skeptic to putting my name on his body does not make me think, in any way, what he does not love me. Thats not what its about either.
Like I, and others said; people feel different about tats. But no need to bash down on people for liking, or not liking, something..come on, now.

Emmyk: *blushing 4 centuries* thanks. nah. Uhm, it is calved by my goldsmith barber. Just a tidbit though.. Leaving it natural will almost make it join with my eyebrow!! *chuckles*
Ahaaa..I was not surewink Most of the africans I know either skin it, leave as a small afro with no fixing, or have locks. Not many of them cut the lines here in EUwink

Tesiday: Jallowbah, I like your decision to be a part of Africa by marriage and accepting our culture. I wish you all the best in your family. We are nice here in Africa and we tolerate and accommodate foreigners a lot. But not everyone of us,as you already know, there has to be bad eggs. This is because of the way some white people treat us,not only scandinavian, but am happy you are not a racist. You welcome to our world. God bless you.
There will always be some people hating for something, I have just chosen to ignore it from nowsmiley
Thank you very much, I can not wait to go back next year!
Bless you and your family too.

richarts: I wish those majestic mods hadnt hide those posts. Nice 1 Chima... Jallowbah, means that in short: "if a husband doesnt do what he's meant to do then he doesnt deserve to be worshipped either".
No..it means; if he doestn show ME respect, and try to please me, I wont do it for him either. Two-way-thing.

And Mrc. Chima; It aint got nothing to do with tats..

maclatunji: She's learning. #Cool
And so is hewink He now have full respect that I dont cater the norwegian friends that come to our house, as long as I do it for the african friends. Siply because he knows the norwegians dont care. They feel wlcome when they can go and get it themself, as if they were home.

richarts: Oh my gosh!... This is exactly what I dream off also... Thats what makes a man... Be an example for ur children. I dream of playing organs & guitars with my wife & kids, wash her things as she does mine. Give her meals on the bed before she wakes... I dream of heaven on earth with my family... I like to be the best husband... Im not happy being a cheat.

Infact, I am self evaluating myself already... It takes hardwork & im working on it. I wish for a woman who is ''perfect'' culturally. In morals & values... I wish I wish & I wish. Ofcourse she is in my dreams, part of my dreams.

One question I have for you, wud u still do same if ur husband were to be the type dat doesnt reciprocate such?.
It took us time to get therewink When you are used to living alone and only thinking about yourself, you need to be able to tell each other what you like and dont like. He told me "If I tell you you are doing something I dont like, it would be important for me that you consider stopping it. And you can do the same with me." Same when it comes to things you like. And also giving credit to each other for the changes you make for your spouse..

If he didnt do the same for me, I wouldnt continue, no. There is no joy in pleasing others who dont try to please you.
FamilyRe: How Do You Welcome Your Husband Home After Work? by JallowBah(f): 11:05am On Aug 29, 2012
When I was home with the baby, and he worked, I would fix the food to be almost ready around the time he came home. I would say Hi, honey and smile, and send the baby for him first, fix water, and give him a kiss.
After I started working, he did almost the same for mesmiley

Always a smile, or a kiss as you enter the door. "Are you hungry?", and if yes, fixing the food. But, it took some time for me to learn. In my culture, its more than enough to say hi, give a kiss, and thats it. If anyone are guests, and they say yes to water, you tell them "its in the kitchen, the glasses are over the sink." ( As in: make yourself at home. Thats actually the best welcome you CAN get here.. ) YOu should have seen the face of my husband when my mother told him that..lol.
But, I understand it now. Its more nice beint catered a little bit.
RomanceRe: What Does Respect Your Husband Mean To You?. by JallowBah(f): 10:57am On Aug 29, 2012
I show him the same respect he shows me. Easy, and difficult.

I wash his clothes, he washes mine. He cooks, I cook. I clean, he clean. I`ll be home with the baby and he`ll be out, and the other way around.
I expect him not to flirt, not to dance close with other women, and not to spend big money withut consulting me first. ( F.ex a car, land, house, etc. )
I expect him to not cheat.
I expect him to sometimes give me water as soon as I come in the door, as I do for him.
I expect him to give me compliments without me asking. After all, his meaning is the most important.
I expect him to be a good role-model for our child. Treat your wife like you want your daughters husband to treat her later on.
I expect him to help me when I ask.

And all of this goes in return as well.

kandiikane: I may do that. I have always wanted to have big and long braids but never had anyone to do it for me.

It will be easier to maintain.
Do it. If its too long and heavy for you, cut it shorter. My husband cant go around with a headwrap like me, he says his neck starts hurtingwink Its about what you are used to.

Yes, you should. Lol.

No, dont do it if you dont really want to. Cause when you want them out, you need to cut off almost all of your hair. So, its a commitmentsmiley
But, I have to say..looooong, looooong, thick braids are so, so, so, nice. Let me find a pic.
