oyb: you have just confimed that for you a computer is little more than a material possession or a toy rather than a work / business tool.

tech savvy parents do not share computers - but in whatever world you live in a whole family will share a single pc. how does that work?
I dont have a job where I use my laptop, no. If I need to use a computer at work, there is a computer there.

In my world, most people get their own computer in their teens, wich I think is alright. Not at 6 years old as some people do here. For me, that is not alright at all.

Ileke-IdI:
Yea, it's not impossible to do it on your kind of hair, but it's a lot easier to do it on natural African hair. Infact, most of the weaves for twists are sold in kinky texture.

Your daughter's hair looks fine enough for a twist.

I learned to twist from Youtube videos, look up the kind of twist you want to do. It'll help.
I already did that too..hehe.
Today is braiding-day, maybe I`ll try to check it out again.

Youngzedd: There is nothing wrong with that, Nursery school pupils in Thailand are using Ipad to study, one each.

Bill Gate C.E.O of Microsoft launched his first computer program at the age of 17.
Mehn we want CHANGES in our motherland (Nigeria)

That is development, I wish our government should do the same.
To use it in school, and to expect the parents to buy it, is two different things.

oyb: it is in countries like nigeria that people consider ipads to be status symbols/material things

if you were bothered about it constituting a distraction, i might understand

i hope in your bid to keep your kids away from 'material things' you don't put them at a disadvantage in future.
Helping your kids cope with the future, in this case computers etc, does not mean they need their own ipod or ipadsmiley They can always use their parents computer to train on, if needed.

What? Twisting has to be the easiest. I do it on my head myself sef.
Braiding down is the hardest sad
Its the other way around for mewink They do NOT turn out good when I try to twist..maybe if I tried on a african persons hair instead of my daughters hair?wink
FamilyRe: Inter Tribal Couples, Let's Meet Here by JallowBah(f): 3:28pm On Aug 25, 2012
afam4eva: One of the ways through which inter-tribal marraiges work is if the two couples decide to let go of their ethnic affnitity and pursue a common one. It;s rare to find an Ohaneze Chieftain who seeks for the betterment of Igbo land it's people getting married to an Owambe Yoruba lady who knows nothing else but to speak, eat and sleep Yoruba.
I agree here.
You have to mix everything together.

My uncle married an itshekiri woman, we welcomed nd loved her but it didnt stop her from uprooting my uncle from anytin igbo, so, my granny has dis belief dat inter- tribal marriages r doomed...

I dont tink i can muo aka ekpe na nka, imu ba asusu, uka, omenala ndi ozo ga ebu'm aka now besides my fiance bu onye igbo and o nwere ihe nile m choro na nwoke.

Dat doesnt mean i dont support inter- tribal marriage. I believe dat wen u see someone u want to settle down wit, u should irrespective of d tribe....
IN every marriage you have to compromise.
Even more so when you marry someone from a different culture/tribe.

My family have a problem with me thinking it is VERY important for my daughter to learn the african culture. What she dont see is that when we are in Africa, I tend to bring in more of my norwegian ways than what I actually do in Norway.
His family think he has become too influenced from living in EU for 13 years. ( For example; when someone dies in Gambia, they just die. No trying to figure out how, no hospital-checkings to find out the caue, unless you pay for it. Here; they find out FOR you, unless its obvious why the person died. Also; he dont want more than two kids. For his family, that is INSANE. )

FamilyRe: Inter Tribal Couples, Let's Meet Here by JallowBah(f): 7:49pm On Aug 24, 2012
He is a gambian fulani, I am a norwegian...norwegian.
The cultures are actually not too different in some ways, but in others again, veery different.
Our biggest challenge has been the language. He speaks street-english, cause he never went to school, and I speak school-english. It has been some big misunderstandings;; our biggest fights have been because of just misunderstaning each other.

But it works. Very good, actually. I never thought I would fall inn love with someone so different, but still so much like me.
I would, like someone else said, marry him over and over again.

And I might add: Some of his familymembers love me, others wish he did not marry a white woman.
In my family, its the same. Mostly because he is a muslim, and dont have papers in Norway, and therefor can not work here.

Brand_new: That`s a good way to make kids responsible..
And to teach them the real value of things.
In Norway, kids at down to 6years have a damn Iphone. Why...? Its bull.

What I think?
Thats its crazy to buy such a young girl an Ipad. For me, the world is way too focused on material things. Insane.

And ipod on the other hand, you can get for 1/10 of the new price when you get it used, so. Meh.
Take the money from the kids weekly payment for helping around the house if they really want these kind of things.

Pagan.

There is no getting thourh to you, even when I talk with respect against your hate.
I have told nothing but the truth in this forum, and never tried to be anything I am not.
Don`t drag my child into your mockery of me, that is just low.
If you actually used logic, and read what I write, I wouldnt have to answer the same damn things over and over.

People like you will never listen to what anyone else have to say, unless they AGREE with you. Everyone else is wrong, you have the one and only truth. That is how your mind works.

From now on; ignore me, and I`ll ignore you. People who hate me have no place in my life, neither do they deserve my energy, and efford to talk with respect.
Again; leave my daughter out of it.

Have a fantastic day, fantastic life, and I pray that you one day will open your eyes and ears to other peoples sides of things, instead of viewing only your own, and I also pray that you one day will let go of all your hate.

Bye.

I need to get on this shea butter train. Haven't been able to find pure shea butter yet though? Where do y'all get yours?
I dont know how it is in Nigeria, but in Gambia they have markets where women and men sell everything..I got it there. Sliced up, laying out in the open.
But you can google it and order online as wellsmiley

Ptolomeus: friend:
I do not go to the forum to fight, or to disqualify anyone.
Lew I confess that it hurt me a lot that you call me "racist", because if there is something in my life against what I've always fought against racism precisely.
What says Brother FULAMAN 198, is true ... Many are convinced that Africans are inferior to Europeans ... That's part of the culture that Europeans have instilled in Africa.
I just do not think, I do not think that's true, that is less than an African one.
But I'll tell you more ... if you research on the old African traditions, which may include important values respected, now absent in the "Western civilization."
For example, the lie was considered a betrayal of Sociedead whole. In the West (you know like me) lying is the basis of all human activity ... This is not in contempt anyone (Westerners) but it is a reality that we can not even deny the West (if we are right).
I'm not African, Western'm like you ...
Now you understand that I'm not a racist?
You understand now, that I would be racist against myself?
Dude, I try to be fair. I can make mistakes like anyone else, but no one ever will disregard my words.
Please accept my compliments.
We agree on more than one thing, I can see.
I was mistaken in how I took your words. Not everything is easy to read thw way the writer intended in forums/internet.

Wuhuuu, picturescheesy

I love this. What I like about african women, and men for that matter, is how they change it now and then. One day you`ll meet a girl with short hair, the next, she`s rocking braids down to her waist. I love it.
