This is why they create the myth that Yoruba ladies are dirty, they are unfaithful etc.

They know they can't have them and then try to sully them. If that fails, they resort to rape.

Useless beings!
What kind of irresponsible comment is this. Rapist exist in every ethnic group. And for your Information, Yoruba ladies are not exceptional in beauty, so what da fuss about anyone, except Yoruba men, wanting them.

I sometimes wonder how this Wike became a lawyer as an investor would put my money where the governor talks like a thug

If our very own Dangote couldn't build his refinery in the SouthSouth, is it now Chinese Exim Bank that would fund a longterm project like rail in Rivers State ?, Rivers State born billionaires all reside in Lagos and Abuja some even Accra Ghana like Briggs, yet you want Chinese to come and construct rail for you

Even International Oil Companies, would rather have their HeadQuarters and Staff Quarters in Lagos and fly back and forth to their Oil Instalation than risk the unriskable

.
No one is talking about private individuals or IOCs investing in Rivers state, the issue on discourse is lac of federal presence in Rivers. Amaechi claims insecurity is the reason for zero federal presence yet Rivers is safer than Kaduna, katsina, Adamawa, Borno etc that the FG is siting projects and establishing all kinds of higher institutions. You go leave topic dey write off point.

Port Harcourt is easily the most cosmopolitan city in Nigeria. The standard language is Pidgin with little or no local slang. Either you're speaking Pidgin or Simple and correct English.

Na for Aba Dem go first use Igbo welcome you. but if you speak Pidgin or English, everyone understands.

Lagos is definitely not trying to claim any oil and gas supremacy over any oil producing state and Dangote regardless of where they source their oil from is still going to be bought @ world oil market rate.

Lagos's advantage remains non oil related commerce, population, market strength and buying power of the consumers in Lagos and the SW in general which other states lack.

We need to stop playing tribalism because we are not responsible for what transpired even before Nigeria was created.

The ports in Lagos state were not built Yoruba people or Hausa people, we inherited the ports from our colonial master so where is the sense in dissing the SW or blaming the FG for what they did not do? It is what it is so lets deal with our current realities, fact is, for decades since independence, the FG did not pay attention to our ports and they did not approve or build new ports, they did not even try inland ports.

A lot of people in this thread sat quietly and look the other way for 16 years, they didn't care about any seaport, they did not say a word, but now all of a sudden, they remember seaports, they want to play politics and tribalism by jumping all over the place to assign blame.
I'm not a tribalist, so I don't know why your admonishing on tribalism. Let the FG build ports in Bonny, Build in Warri, Lekki, Ibaka and everywhere necessary. No need spending value hours in Lagos waiting for goods to be cleared when Nigeria has extensive coastline.

Yes, there's congestion in Lagos on top of the bad roads leading into and out of the ports which previous administrations failed to correct, including 16 years of PDP, but the current administration is addressing these challenges with a major concrete road and rail access from the port to the rest of Nigeria
Sorry to tell you, the solution regarding the port situation in Nigeria is right there in Lagos state for obvious reasons, Lekki deep seaport which is the best, the deepest and modern port in West Africa is only 2-3 years away from completion to decongest the port in Apapa so you are sadly mistaken if you think ports outside Lagos are capable of diverting commerce and economic activities away from Lagos just because of new ports in the SS.

The next massive economic zone in Nigeria is Lekki in Lagos so can the ports in the SS receive or evacuate the good. No.

The ports in the SS are doing better today with more ships heading there, this is not happening by accident, it's because the current administration is doing what the previous ones refused to do for decades.

PDP/Jona sat in office for 16 years and we did not hear anything about new ports in the SS, no approval even though the governors were PDP governors, they even let the old ones rot away.
The details on the proposed Bonny seaport is still sketchy but surely Bonny island is literally in the Atlantic ocean, so natural depth and whatever shouldn't be a concern. Rivers isn't any backwater state in Nigeria. Rivers is a bonafide oil&gas state and with the proper tweaking should hold her place as the No. 1 state in Nigeria. So whatever oil&gas infrastructures being built in Lagos isn't a concern especially given that Lagos isn't a true oil bearing state. They only have online oil deposits. Let the right and proper things be done in Nigeria and everyone will know where they truly stand.

You seem not to understand what an economy is and how it comes about. Economy simply is the total economic activities that takes places within a specified area. And the location of Nigeria's most important ports in Lagos is a plus on the overall economic activities of Lagos.

Wether you accept or not, the influx of hundreds of thousands of people (if not millions) yearly to the ports in Lagos and the value they add to the Lagos economy cannot be overstated. If say Rivers for example had half the influx of people from everywhere in Nigeria to spend at least 3days going about economic activities, it will surely reflect on our indices.

Building a port is not something that is exclusive. Any state in Nigeria with access to sea can conveniently locate a port. Lagos is just fortunate to benefit from the lopsidedness if the Nigerian state.

You and your likeminds in the SWest should disabuse your minds of any plan to bomb NPA cos the Ships will only be redirected to either Rivers, Delta or Calabar. Nothing special in Lagos. Please leave bragging of bombings for those that actually have the bragging rights, ie the Nigerian Deltans that own crude oil.

do you think Lagos state and Yoruba land is benefiting from that porthuh Some of you are ignorant on the Federal government revenue system. The NPA generates revenue thru Lagos seaport and take the money down to Abuja without reinventing it back into the Lagos economy, Fulanis now takes the lion share. Go and see the road of Apapa Wharf that's generating stupendous money to the Federal government account very bad road. We Yorubas wants to control our port. We need the Fulanis and NPA to hands off.
Yes, Lagos and by extension Yorubaland are benefiting immensely from the port in Lagos. Forget about revenue coming directly from the port and consider all other economic benefits acruable to Lagos as a result of it being the location of a port.

The importer who travels from say PH to Lagos to clear his goods will stay in a hotel, will eat food, will pay transport to and fro within his stay in Lagos before going back to PH.

A company who usually import raw materials through Lagos port will consider setting up shop in Lagos to save cost/risk of long haulage to say PH.

Clearing agents, forwarders et al will reside in Lagos, and do business within the locality, improving the economy of Lagos.

NPA staff and other FG agencies affiliated to Ports/Shipping will reside in Lagos, send their kids to schools, open business for themselves or other family members and ultimately improve the Lagos economy.

So please, tell your bullshit to an idiot.

Forced17:
Good morning Nairalanders

This has been eating me up for days. Me and this girl have been together for 3 years now, she's 17 and I'm 19.

I accept all bashings for being in a relationship at this age, she's the last born though and we perfectly understand each other.

Now her father is forcing her to marry a man in Kaduna, she refused and the father threatened to throw her and her siblings including the mum out into the streets or send them to the village if she doesn't marry the man.

Now she hasn't even for days now and she's contemplating on taking her life and she just told me about this yesterday and this has brought me down so much. I don't know what to do, I need help. This is about her future, I don't want her to be forced to become a mother at 17 and living under a man she doesn't know.

She has only three weeks before the man comes to take her away.
My girlfriend is being sold into marriage and I don't know what to do.

I need help, I'm heartbroken
I don't know who can help me push this to front page
Hahahaha. See this small boy with his smallie girlfriend. If you were a big guy, atleast you could have accommodated her and provided for her so that her Dad wouldn't become a threat to your happiness. But you can't, so you came here to cry. oh Pele. take heart.

The best you can do for yourself now is to continue with your education and become successful in life or learn a trade/start a business and become successful. That way, you can marry your next love. As for this particular one, she's a married woman.

Romangalactic:
I'll try to keep my predicament short. I registered a new account for this purpose but I'm sure many of you will understand that sterility is not something to be announced which is exactly how I got myself in this situation. I am 35 and engaged to a beautiful woman who completes me in every way. As much as it hurts me to say this, I have not been totally honest with her about everything.
Just yesterday while we were home together, she told me that she is pregnant . I asked her how sure she is, she said she had done the pee test and that she knows how she is feeling. The issue here is that I am sterile but I have not told her this before so it is impossible that I am responsible.

Please before anyone tells me I deserve this for not opening up to her, I have been undergoing treatment secretly and they say I will be able to father children when it's done so of course, I am hopeful and have not bothered to inform her about any of this. I can't stand losing her for any reason. My issue right now is that I asked my endocrinologist this morning if it's possible that the treatment is already working and he said we have not gone far enough to see any results yet. This means I am definitely not the father of the child she is carrying.

Only one other person in this world knows about my health challenge and that is my cousin. I told him and he told me to break up with my fiancée, someone I have already done introduction with and families are involved. I told him I cannot and that he must take the secret to the grave, he thinks I am making the biggest mistake of my life.
Well I told him my plan is to accept the pregnancy and continue to make her think I don't know she cheated on me. I am doing this with the hope that after we get married, my treatment will be completed and everything will be back to normal. But at the same time, I still can't shake the feeling that I am about to marry someone who cheated and is passing off another man's child as mine, I feel cheated and it hurts.

Can anyone else please tell me what to do about this situation I have found myself? Please I just need to hear from other people besides my cousin. Another thing, he has never really liked my fiancée so I feel that also may be his motivation.
I need neutral opinions please
I have a feeling your cousin impregnated your fiancé

NGpatriot:
1. You are wrong, the FG is not owing anything, in fact, it was the NLNG that delayed their own payment, this is why Fashola said it took a long time to beg them to release their part of the money and at the moment, no money is owed and the contractor is still working on site.

2. The only delayed was caused by the local communities attacking the contractors and delaying work.

3. Wike should take responsibility for not addressing the issues with his own local communities attacking and driving the contractor away from site and quit blaming other people for his own incompetence.
You can only but fool and deceive yourself. NLNG that gave the FG $1.2Billion bailout in 2015 is the one that will owe Julius Berger while the FG that has a history of abandoning it's responsibilities is the one that will comply.

It's just a no brainer. How many projects has the FG abandoned, defaulted and/or cancelled. Now contrast the "character" of the FG against the NLNG which is arguably the most competent and successful company in Nigeria at the moment.

Saying the truth wouldn't kill you. What is 30k that you have to lie senselessly.
