Donkalio: ikwere is a slave blood, the igbos gave you little voice in Rivers state, but it seems you guys are trying to shout with the tiny little voice. just because we left obia/akpo for you guys, does not mean we are fools, is just for peace to reign.
i have a copy of the receipt of the piece of land Okrika chief sold to Harcourt, come and see whose name and signature is on it. Another rubbish post. Ask yourself if Okrika have land before they can contemplate to give it out. People who have are those that can give. When the British approached Oju Daniel Kalio to site a port in Okrika Island, he refused on the ground that they don't have enough land for that, and instead escorted the British to Diobu to meet with the Chiefs and Elders and they gave the land for the building of Port. The land was Ikwerre farmlands referred to as Obumotu. The Rebisi are the clan that own the land. He signed the documents on behalf of the Ikwerres, as an educated classroom teacher as against the illiterate Diobu chief who had no formal education whatsoever and couldnt sign a signature . The issue of Amadi-Ama, Ozuboko, Okuruama, Azuabie are all straightforward cos the issue was settled by supreme Court ruling in1981, I favour of the Ikwerres. |
Politics › Re: FFK: Rivers, Change Port Harcourt Name, Here Is Why by jamesversion: 8:30am On Oct 08, 2019 |
Donkalio: The greatest mistake that the ijaw man did during the Biafra war, was to leave the ikwere man to stay, they would had chased them out with the igbos.
Before the Biafra war, when we where part of the igbos as Eastern Nigeria, the igbos were possessive, intimidating, doing all sorts. The ikwere man was benefitting from their possession, obia/akpo land was delivered to the ikwere man by the igbos, made them to spread and acquire more.
The diobu you are talking about was an abandoned properties/place, it was occupied by the igbos, the roads and streets are all named before them, but today diobu is under ikwere, and many more.
Ask yourself one question, why did they choose to build government house in ijaw (okrika) land?
Why did they choose to rule Rivers state from ijaw (okrika) land?
When they created Rivers state, they had to site the government house in ijaw (okrika) land because,
(1) they are the through Rivers people. (2) they were against Biafra, whereas, the ikwere man was for Biafra, because they are one. (3) because the unity of Nigeria, can be secured with an ijaw man.
The ikwere man is an Igbo man, believe it or leave it. (1) the Igbo man made the ikwere man who is he. (2) the Igbo man acquired lands for him, as his brother in Rivers state (3) they speak the same language, have the same culture, traditions and believe. (4) the ikwere man was not against Biafra before Rivers state creation. Because they are brothers (5) a typical Igbo man will prefer to stay in ikwere land in Rivers state. (6) till today, Igbo man have confidence in ikwere land, they vote and support them in all aspects.
The igbos are the ikweres Very rubbish post. What was the population of Okrikans in 1913?... a little over 1500 persons, all living in Okrika island and usually venturing out to fish in inland waters towards Ikwerreland and returning back to Okrika. Now you want to rewrite history that 16 okrika villages were ceded to create Port Harcourt. Tell us what Obumotu means in Okrika. Okrika people living in PH town are Ikwerre people tenants. The land is property of Rebisi as it clearly their farmlands bought by the British. and for your info, the rivers state government house is In Ikwerreland, OGBUM-NU-ABALI precisely. BMH now Rivers university teaching hospital is in orogbum. Okrika has no business anywhere. |

Politics › Re: FFK: Rivers, Change Port Harcourt Name, Here Is Why by jamesversion: 7:41pm On Oct 05, 2019 |
Donkalio: Now I know FFK actually takes drugs, what does he knows about Rivers state or portharcourt?
Portharcourt was named after a British Business man, named "Lewis Harcourt" he does coal Business, he buys coal from Enugu, and export it outside the country through water transportation, as far back as 1900. Harcourt bought over a piece of land, which is close to the shore (presently known as NPA portharcourt) from the late chief Oju Daniel kalio, then paramant Ruler of okrika, of the ijaw ethnic nationality. As possessive plurality will apply, it is called Harcourt's port, which can be change to the other way, "portharcourt"
The piece of land was actually bought by the white man. Information is the key. FFK should take note. This version of Port harcourt history is revisionist. The Diobus gave the land for the seaport. The issue of Amadi Ama is a case of Okrikans settling on Ikwerre land as customary tenants. |

Igbo and it's dialects are spoken in Portharcourt lga Emouha lga Opobo Ikwerre lga Onelga Etche Omuma Obigbo Omuma Obio/Akpor Bonny Ahoada East lga As for you, obviously you don't know what you're writing. Oyigbo LGA and Egbema community are the only self-recognised Igbos in Rivers. Pls avoid controversy. there's nothing you stand to gain by it. |
Culture › Re: Languages Spoken In Each Of The 36 States In Nigeria by jamesversion: 8:51pm On Oct 01, 2019 |
Afam4eva: But Ikwerre isn't the only Igboid language in Rivers state. Listing Ikwerre seperate from Igbo is probably because Ikwerre is the most anti Igbo igboid group out there. Never forget that we still have Etche, Omuma, Egbema, Ndoki and even Ndoni. These groups speak a variant of Igbo and would make Igbo a major ethnic group without Ikwerre. Apart from Ikwerre, the other major groups are Ogoni and all the variants of Ijaw (kalabar, okrika etc). With the exception of Etche (which to my knowledge haven't actually considered themselves Igbo), the rest groups mentioned are just a handful. If you summed them up they're rent upto a Million people in a state of over 6 Million people. So how do they constitute a majority? |
Culture › Re: Languages Spoken In Each Of The 36 States In Nigeria by jamesversion: 8:03pm On Oct 01, 2019 |
Afam4eva: There's a diference between a language and an ethnic group. You may claim that Ikwerre, Opobo, Etche, Ndoni and the rest are not Igbos at it stands but you can't take away the fact that what they speak are variants of the Igbo language. If the OP had listed the Igbo language and omitted Ikwerre then it makes sense but listing Igbo and Ikwerre as major languages spoken in Rivers isn't a true reflection of fact. The Igbo language on its own isn't a major language without say Ikwerre beside it. |
Culture › Re: Languages Spoken In Each Of The 36 States In Nigeria by jamesversion: 7:23pm On Oct 01, 2019 |
Since when did Igbo become major language in Rivers. A language spoken only in Oyigbo and Egbema clan in Onelga is now a major language. See misguided report. |

IMAliyu: I laugh whenever someone says Buhari wants to Islamise Nigeria. It's the same thing Northerners said about Goodluck and his anti-muslim agenda. It's all baseless accusations driven by religious sentiment. I mean Buhari had 4 years to finish what they are accusing him of, but here we are. No political moves have been made under the authority of FG to change Nigeria into an Islamic country or to covert the Christian population. You can make a valid point and criticism of Buhari's incompetence in dealing with the Hurdsmen crisis, communal clashes and bokoharam, but they are trying to create a problem that doesn't exist or one that only exists in their minds. What will they say if Buhari finishes this next 4 years without anything happening? The man had the perfect opportunity during the military dictatorship era. Why would he wait until civilian rule when you can't do anything you want and get away with it? I'm just saying people have a tendency to create patterns in their minds where one doesn't exist and it may originate from genuine worries, but we can all see this is just some BS. Practically speaking, no Muslim president of Nigeria can islamise the country. Also no christian president can christianize us. It's just politicians looking to play on the intelligence of gullible Nigerians. I think Buhari should always consider Nigerias best interest when forging and executing foreign policy. Why throw away a promising relationship with Morocco because of ordinary Shawarma republic. It doesn't seem smart to me, except maybe the FG is using this as a means to force the hand of Morocco into a more better deal for Nigeria. Just maybe. |

seguno2: You decided to answer a question that I did not ask. Nevertheless how is the government different from the people? Is the federal government not including the senators and representatives from the states affected by this insecurity? Do you think that their job is to simply collect millions and share crumbs to influencers in their community In practical terms, senators and HoR members can only legislate and make appeals. The Executive arm of the FG, primarily the C-in-C, have the constitutional powers and can effectively tackle insecurity by giving outright directive especially if convinced the threat was against strategic national importance. If a senator/HoR comes to his constituency to appeal to his constituents on the economic dangers of their nefarious activities and the criminal elements do not take heed, what then, carry arms? |

seguno2: What are the people of the area doing about insecurity? Or the criminals are ghosts cum aliens who are not residing there with the people If the government want to tackle insecurity they know what to do. I live in Port Harcourt and know that seafarers are usually at the mercy of Pirates, and no sensible businessman will import through such a risky waterway, no matter the reduction as incentive. So the primary concern of the government if they are sincere about the Eastern Ports is to tackle the menace of insecurity first and almost every other thing will fall into place. The federal government of Nigeria is solely responsible for the policing and security of everywhere in Nigeria. |
