Two reasons I can think of.
1. The Witnesses are obsessed with DIFFERENCE and go out of their way to emphasise how different they are from other religions, especially Christians.
2. All religious people have a confirmation bias - thus, they flatly REFUSE to consider anything that might contradict their belief and seek out anything that confirms it. The Witnesses just take this to the extreme - so they will not countenance ANY FORM of exposure to materials from other churches less they're "led astray".

The verses obviously talked about Jesus Christ manifesting in the flesh not God himself.
