EducationABUAD’s Students Trial; DPP Takes Over by janzguy(op): 12:46am On Feb 20, 2016
The Director of Public Prosecution, Mr. Gbenga Adaramola, has taken over the criminal case filed by the police against 31 students of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti.

The students had protested on February 7, 2016 on accounts of alleged victimisation and highhandedness by the institution, including the recent hiking of tuition by the management.

Last year, the university hiked the fees of its 400 Level medical students from N1.7m to N2.6m. ABUAD is a private university established by renowned lawyer, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN). Meanwhile, Adaramola entered his appearance at the resumed hearing of the trial on Friday.

At the last sitting, Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye had adjourned the matter for legal advice following an
application by the police prosecutor, Caleb Leramo.

But at the resumed hearing on Friday, the DPP told the court that there were peace moves between parents and
complainant.

“If the peace deals failed, we would proceed with the trial at the next hearing,” he said.

Responding, one of the defence counsel, Chris Omokhafe, accused the prosecution of deceiving parents with the submission.

He expressed surprise that the DPP took over the prosecution after parents, according to him, have signed
undertakings with the complainant.
He urged the DPP to conclude his legal advice on time, hence, the hearing should commence.

The students were accused of an alleged attempt to rob a branch of Wema Bank in the institution.

The police alleged that the students on February 7 unlawfully committed the offence of arson by burning houses belonging to ABUAD University security staff and burglary of a boutique belonging to the wife of the ABUAD founder.

The alleged offences contravene Section 443(a), 411(2) and 403 of the criminal code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2016.

They are also facing a separate six-count charge including rioting, possession of firearms and malicious damage.

The alleged offence contravenes Section 516,451 and 109 of the criminal Code, Cap C 16,Laws of Ekiti State 2012.

Meanwhile, the Education Rights Campaign has called for the unconditional release of the arrested students.

In a statement issued by ERC on Friday, its national coordinator, Hassan Taiwo Soweto, and national secretary, Michael Ogundele, called for a probe into the activities of the institution.

CelebritiesDavido Explains Why He Would Be Successful Where D’banj & Don Jazzy Failed by janzguy(op): 6:43pm On Feb 19, 2016
Davido believes his Sony Music Deal will go very well unlike the GOOD Music deal Don Jazzy and D’Banj signed with Kanye West.

Davido first of all said he doesn’t want to be Don Jazzy, who was in the same room with 10 other producers including Kanye West. “I don’t want that to be me,” he told The Fader. “I wanna be that one African nigga, where it’s like, ‘Call that African nigga. Let’s get him on the hook.’”

He also firmly believes his American background gives him an edge unlike Don Jazzy and D’Banj. “I can be in the club with Meek Mill and Future and be on a level with them,” he says. “I understand what they’re talking about. I know what the trap is. These are things that some of these other guys, they don’t have it. They can’t have these conversations with the rappers, so how can they have them with the (American) fans?”

When asked if whether he thinks the world is ready for a Nigerian superstar, he said “Of course they’re ready,”. “They just might not know what that’s going to look like.”

David also said he knows the kind of song that will be accepted in the US. “I know what kind of songs work. The
music should have everything in it—Jamaican, African, American, everything. Something like Wizkid’s ‘Ojuelegba,’ it has a cool feel to it.” he added.

EducationUNILAG Students To Sue School Authority For Changing Their Courses by janzguy(op): 8:31am On Feb 19, 2016
Some medical students of the University of Lagos, Akoka,
who were given courses contrary to their choices, have threatened to take the institution to court if it fails to reverse its decision within seven days, starting from Wednesday, February 17.

They said they had petitioned the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rahman Bello, the Federal Ministry of Education, the Senate Committee on Education, the National Universities Commission, the Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode, among others, on the development, saying they wanted
favourable response before the ultimatum elapsed.

The students had reportedly met the pass mark set by UNILAG for them to move to 200 level, but most of them
were not admitted into the College of Medicine in Idi-Araba on the grounds that the quota given to the school was not sufficient.

Some of the students and their parents on Thursday protested against the development at PUNCH Place on the
Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, displaying placards, some of which read, “JAMB, NUC, please save our future, save our career, save our destiny, come to our aid,” “This scam must stop, we want our courses at the college of medicine”, “Prof. Rahman Bello, you are a Pharaoh, allow our children to cross to the promised college.”

The petition, which was signed by the principal solicitor for the aggrieved students, Jiti Ogunye, read in part, “We are solicitors to the students of the Faculty of Sciences in the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos State.

“By their performances in their first year course work and examinations, they met the requirements by having a
Cumulative Grade Point Average or cumulative score average of 50 in the groupings of courses for the Medicine
and Surgery, Medical Laboratory, Nursing, and Physiotherapy departments; and a 2.00 CGPA for students in Pharmacology, Physiology and Radiography departments to advance to 200 level and first year in the UNILAG College of Medicine.”

The petition stated further that the school had raised the requirements from 50 per cent and 2.0 CGPA to between 2.5 and 4.11 CGPA after the students had met the initial standards.

“We demand that the university rescind its decision by allowing our clients to register for the various medical programmes in the College of Medicine and commence attendance of classes. If the university fails or refuses to accede to our demand within seven days of the delivery of
this letter, we shall not hesitate to initiate a legal action against the University of Lagos in the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, for the judicial review of the administrative action.”

One of the students, Emmanuel Adebiyi, who wanted to study medicine, said he could not settle for pharmacology, which he was given by the school. He said, “I got 56, 58 and 72 in the three required courses, but I could not advance to 200 level to further my education as a medical student. We are being denied our rights. We appealed to the President to look into this. I was given Pharmacology, which I did not bargain for.”

A Medical Laboratory student, Samuel Sodipe, said he was eventually offered Botany, “which I don’t like.”

Evelyn Ajisafe said the decision of the school had caused “disorientation” of the affected students, adding that they
could not study what they did not apply for.

“At the end of my 100 level, I had 3.9 CGPA, which is above the 2.00 required by the school. I had already bought some materials for the college of medicine. But when the list came out, 19 out of 49 students were selected. I was among those that met the requirements, but not shortlisted. The university said there was a specific quota which we were not told about from the beginning. I want the school authorities to give us our normal courses. We are psychologically disturbed.”

One of the parents, who gave his name simply as Otunba Afolabi, said the claim by the VC that the affected students failed “is a blatant lie.”

“I have been having sleepless nights since this issue started. The school is trying to destroy the destiny of these children. I wanted my daughter to study Agriculture, but she insisted
that she wanted nursing. She tried her best and met the criteria – she had 60, 53 and 58. She had been receiving
lectures when the list came out and her name was not there,” he added.

The UNILAG spokesperson, Toyin Adebule, could not be reached for comment as his line rang out. A text message sent to his mobile phone had yet to be replied to as of time of filing this report.

She rejected her appointment as the chairperson of the governing council of the Federal University, Dutse (FUD).

The Northern activist, who is also an associate of the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, in a quarter-page newspaper advert published by a National Newspaper, rejected the
appointment, stressing that she was not consulted.

She claimed her appointment was made through newspaper and was constrained to make the rejection via the same medium. However, she pledged her continued support for
Buhari and his administration.

The advert reads:

"I, Najatu Muhammad, wishes to thank you so much for considering me worthy of being appointed the chairperson of Dutse Federal University. It’s however, unfortunate that I was not consulted before the announcement in the media. I also regret that I have to use the same medium to announce that I can’t accept the appointment for some personal reasons. I will however remain an ardent supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari in his effort in charting a new course for this country. A course that we pray will put this country back on the path of progress. I will also continue to support the presidents fight against corruption and other ills of this country. My unflinching support for the President will remain for Allah’s sake and country. I pray that Allah will continue to guide and protect our President. Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,”

Romance(Photo) 40 Year Old Woman Set To Marry Her 23 Year Old Son by janzguy(op):
Betty Mbereko, a widowed woman is set to marry her son. The woman and her son say in love they are with each other and now they want to take their incestuous relationship to the next level and get married.

What makes it worse is that the mother, Betty Mbereko is now six months pregnant and expecting her son’s child, and her grandchild.

Betty, 40, has been a widow for the past 12 years and has been living with her 23-year-old son Farai Mbereko.

She confirms that she is six month pregnant and that she has decided it is better to “marry” her son because she does not want to marry her late husband’s young brothers, whom
she says are coveting her.

Betty stunned a village court last week when she said the affair with her son had begun three years earlier.

She said after spending a lot of money sending Farai to school following the death of her husband, she felt she had
a right to his money and no other woman was entitled to it.

“Look, I strove alone to send my son to school and no one helped me. Now you see that my son is working and you
accuse me of doing something wrong. Let me enjoy the products of my sweat,” she told the village court council.

Farai said he was more than prepared to marry his mother and would pay off the ilobola (bride price) balance his father had left unpaid to his grandparents.

“I know my father died before he finished paying the bride price and I am prepared to pay it off. It is better to publicise what is happening because people should know that I am the one who made my mother pregnant, otherwise they will accuse her of promiscuity,” he said.

Local headman Nathan Muputirwa says: “We cannot allow this to happen in our village, mashura chaiwo aya, (This is a bad omen indeed). In the past they would have to be killed but today we cannot do it because we are afraid of the police.”

CrimeRe: Photo: ‘Mad Man’ Arrested With 22 ATM Cards, Phones In Lagos by janzguy(op): 8:04am On Feb 15, 2016
CrimePhoto: ‘Mad Man’ Arrested With 22 ATM Cards, Phones In Lagos by janzguy(op):
A ‘mad man’, Lanrewaju Jaiyeola, has been arrested with 22 Automated Teller Machine cards, two mobile phones and a power bank.

He was nabbed by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command on the Victoria Island area of Lagos State.

The police said they were not convinced that Jaiyeola was actually mad, adding that initially, he was lucid before he started talking illogically.

It was gathered that Jaiyeola, 39, was intercepted by the RRS operatives with a backpack on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road. One of the RRS men, who declined identification, said,

“When we sighted him, he appeared like a mentally-ill man, but we invited him for interrogation. He responded normally to all our enquiries.

“A few minutes into the interrogation, he started straying from the normal course of our enquiries and was not
making sense at all. This raised further curiosity and we decided to search his backpack.

“Inside the backpack, we found 22 ATM cards, one Nokia phone, a BlackBerry, a power bank, several bank tellers of recent bank transactions, and lots of invoices hidden in pieces of papers.”

It was learnt that eight of the credit cards were still valid, and they had different names and banks. The officers took him to their base in Alausa, Ikeja.

A policeman at the base told our correspondent that the suspect made “statements suggestive of somebody
disguising as a mad man to perpetrate crime”.

He said, “Initially, we noticed that he was mentally balanced because he was answering the questions posed to him adequately. But all of a sudden, he started sounding incoherent and illogical again.

“While interrogating him, he threatened the Investigating Police Officer, saying, ‘I will make life unbearable for you if you don’t let me go’.

“It was at this point we realised that possibly he might be enjoying the patronage of some highly-placed people whom we believe he was working for.”

The police said the suspect was on their watch-list for about two weeks before he was arrested.

The RRS Commander, Olatunji Disu, said Jaiyeola had been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja.

CrimeMan Murders Fiancée In Port-Harcourt Hotel (photo) by janzguy(op): 7:59pm On Feb 14, 2016
Such a sad story. The gruesome murder of 22-year-old Precious Naza Onyenanu, who graduated last year from Imo State University with a degree in Education (Economics), has given her traumatized father, Mr. Innocent Eze Onyenanu and other relations the greatest shock of their lives.

He still shudders every time the thought flashes in his mind and his tears have also not ceased to flow. Precious, a native of Isu, in Isu Local Government Area of Imo State was allegedly butchered by Ephraim Isom, 27, a graduate of Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RUST), who hails from Andoni Local Government Area in Rivers State. The heinous murder took place in a hotel in the Rukpokwu area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Precious met Ephraim in 2012, when he was posted to Imo State for the national youth service and they fell in love. After his national youth service year ended, Ephraim maintained his relationship with Precious, in the hope of eventually going into marriage after the victim’s graduation.

But that, as it has turned out was just a ruse and dummy sold by Ephraim to Precious, to string her along. Innocently, and being a young woman as she was, Precious believed him hook, line and sinker.

Rather than formalizing the marriage, exchange rings and marriage vows, what Precious got was unkindest and deadliest cut that ended her life, from the young man she once called, “my darling.”

HOMICIDE CAREFULLY PLANNED AND EXCUTED..

The road that led to the tragic end of Precious began when her father asked her to travel to Port Harcourt to escort her sister, Mrs Ezinne Blessing Godswill, to Imo State, to spend the 2015 yuletide with the family. Presumably seeing the trip
to Port Harcourt as an opportunity to see and spend some time with Ephraim, she excitedly called him and intimated him about the planned visit to the Garden City. On Saturday, December 5, she left for Port Harcourt, with absolutely no premonition of the evil fate that Ephraim had carefully scripted for her.

Unknown to her, Ephraim who had professed undying love for her, was also secretly nursing an evil plan against her, and looking for an opportunity to execute it. Pretending that all was well, the suspect booked a room in a hotel (name withheld) at Rukpokwu about 7 am and left. He was said to have called Precious on the phone, and told her of the hotel where she would stay and the bus stop she should alight after arriving in Port Harcourt.

With grief laden in his heart, Precious’ father made a manly effort to recount to Sunday Sun reporter how the daughter came to a horrific end: “On Saturday, December 5, 2015, I sent my daughter to Port Harcourt, to bring her sister from Port Harcourt, to Imo State. She left Owerri about 7am. About 12.30, I tried to call her on the phone, to know if she got to Port Harcourt safely, but her phone was switched off. I tried all through the night, but the call did not go through.”

The 67-year-old businessman disclosed that when the phone eventually went through the following day, Sunday, December 6, 2015, it was a male voice that responded.

His words: “About 12:30, the following day, Sunday, December 6, 2015, the phone rang and it was a male voice that spoke. Just before I could ask him about the owner of the handset, he quickly switched off.”

At that point, Onyenanu said he became afraid and concluded that his daughter had been kidnapped. He said he rushed to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Imo State Police Command, Owerri, to lodge a complaint. And when he went back to the Command the following day, Monday, December 7, 2015, for necessary documentation, Precious was declared missing by the police. The Imo State Police Command was said to have investigated the case throughout the week, but all efforts to unravel the mystery surrounding the sudden disappearance of the girl proved abortive.

But on Monday, December 14, while at the Imo Police Command, the distraught father said he received a phone call from his brother-in-law living in Port Harcourt, Ifeanyi Nmezi, who told him to rush to Port Harcourt, adding that his daughter had been murdered. In his confused state, Eze went to Port Harcourt and joined his daughter, Ezinne, at the Homicide Section, where she had already written a statement in respect of the murdered Precious.

DETECTIVES IN RIVERS SWING INTO ACTION..

In the course of the investigation, policemen attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Rivers State Police Command approached one of the GSM service providers and obtained the call log with a view to knowing the last person she communicated with before her gruesome murder. With the information provided by the GSM network company, the police identified the person who spoke to Precious last and also sent a Short Message Service, SMS to her, describing the bus stop where she should alight and the name of the hotel where they would lodge. The policemen later traced the suspect, arrested and detained him.

After initial interrogation, the detectives took the detained suspect the following day to his house where they conducted a search. And in his house, two handsets belonging to the victim were found.

Father of the victim takes up the tale: “When the police found the two handsets, I was invited to come for
identification. It was our housemaid, Chiamaka, who knows the handsets used by my daughter that identified the phones.”

But in an effort to cover the alleged crime, Ephraim deleted all the contacts in the handsets, which he also claimed belonged to him. To further confirm the real owner of the handsets, the police took them to the service provider, who restored the deleted contacts and call log.

“It was after the contacts were restored that the police saw the SMS Ephraim sent to my daughter, telling her the bus stop to alight at Rukpokwu,” Onyenanu further said.

ROLE OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT

According to the account of the management of the hotel, the suspect came to book a room on the fateful day at 7am. After paying, he locked it up and went away with the key. About 10am, he came back in the company of Precious.

“After sometime, two of them went out and later came back, holding food in take-away packs they bought from one of the eateries,” a source at the hotel told Sunday Sun.

It was also gathered that after sometime, too, the suspect went out again without Precious. But the director of the hotel felt uncomfortable and suspicious of the movement of
the man. He asked him if he was checking out and also asked about the girl he took into the room he had booked.

But Ephraim lied to him, claiming that Precious was sleeping, and added that he wanted to buy something and then come back soon.

“Not satisfied with his response, the director asked the manager to call the suspect back. But he (Ephraim) was able to play a fast one on the manager and disappeared. He never came back to the hotel again,” the source further
disclosed.

The hotel workers then went to knock on the door of the room but there was no response. After banging on the door repeatedly without any response, they peeped through a hole and saw the victim’s lifeless body on the bed, wrapped with bed sheet and in a pool of blood. It was after the discovery that the management of the hotel reported the matter to a nearby police station.

A team of policemen went to the hotel, forced the door open and removed the body to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH)
mortuary.

Promptly, the police arrested and detained the director, manager and security men. When interrogated, they denied any involvement or knowledge of the crime, but assured
that they would identify the customer, who booked the hotel and brought in the victim.

FAMILY DEVASTATED BY THE MURDER OF PRECIOUS

Expectedly, the murder of the young graduate devastated her family, especially her mother, Florence.

According to Onyenanu, Precious, who was the last but one child in the
family lacked nothing as her elderly ones and parents, provided for her needs.

He said: “I don’t know how her mother will survive this tragedy; they were too close. Out of my 14 children, she was the 13th. I have two wives. The older children pampered her a lot because of her good character and beauty. My daughter was very beautiful and fashionable. Anybody that came in contact with her liked her.”

Asked whether his daughter and her fiancé had any quarrel which could have led to the dastardly act, the grieving father disclosed to the reporter how one of his daughters told him that Precious had misunderstanding with Ephraim, after someone called him (Ephraim) on the phone one day, and Precious picked the call and the person turned out to be his girlfriend. The incident was said to have angered Precious,
who accused the suspect of planning to jilt (dump) her.

“Also, who knows whether my daughter told him about her plans to travel to UK this year for her master’s degree programme? I’m calling on the Federal Government, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, women lawyers, human rights activists, to come to my aid. All I want is justice,” the grief-stricken father moaned.

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS); Causes, Symptoms And Treatment

A week or two before your menstruation begins, you may notice bloating, headaches, mood swings or other physical and emotional changes. These monthly symptoms are known as premenstrual syndrome or P.M.S.
Premenstrual syndrome is a medical condition which symptoms affect many women of child bearing age.

P.M.S can cause a variety of physical and psychological symptoms that occur just before your menstrual period.

The American college of obstetrics and cynecology defines P.M.S as "the cyclic occurrence of symptoms that are sufficiently severe to interface with some aspects of life and that appear with consistent and predictable relationships to the menses (menstrual period).

WHAT CAUSES P.M.S?
The exact cause of PMS is unknown but it seems to be related to the fluctuating levels of hormones, including estrogen and progesterone, that occur in preparation for menstruation.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF P.M.S?
There are many PMS symptoms. The number and severity of symptoms vary from woman to woman. In addition, the severity of the symptom can vary from each month.

Common PMS symptoms includes:
*Bloating
*Breast tenderness
*Waist and abdominal pain
*Diarrhea
*Aggression

*Trouble with concentrating
*Changes in sleeping pattern

*Joint aches
*Food craving (over eating)
*Crying spells
*Fatigue
*Irritability
*Anxiety
*Mood Swing and or depression.

Up to 85% of menstruating women experience some of these symptoms related to their period, while only 2% - 10% experience severe symptoms.

IS THERE A TREATMENT FOR P.M.S?
P.M.S treatment is based on relieving symptoms. Treatment begins with a thorough assessment of your symptoms and their impact on your daily life. Treatments for P.M.S include the following:

4. Drink plenty of fluids to ease abdominal bloating.

5. Talk about it with family, friends or partner: It may help them to understand how you are feeling. It may be best to do this after your period when symptoms have eased.
Find healthy ways to cope with stress, write in a journal. Some women also find yoga massage helpful.

6. Don't smoke

7. Take supplements such as folic acid, vitamins B6, calcium and magnesium to reduce tommy cramps and mood swings.

Over the counter pain relieves may help ease physical symptoms such as tommy cramps, headaches, backaches
and breast tenderness. These includes:

*Asprin

*Ibuprofen (eye-byu-proit-fuhn) (for instance Advil motion, midol cramp)

*Ketroprofen (key-ton-proh-fuhny (for instance, Drudis KT)

*Naproken (Nah-prok-suh-) (For instance Aleve)

In more cases severe cases of pain, prescription of medicine may be used to ease Symptoms. One approach has been to use drugs that skip ovulation such as birth control pills.

Science/TechnologyRe: Etisalat Sues MTN Over Visafone Acquisition by janzguy(op): 8:44am On Feb 08, 2016
Science/TechnologyEtisalat Sues MTN Over Visafone Acquisition by janzguy(op):
Etisalat Nigeria has sued MTN Nigeria and Visafone Ltd, challenging MTN’s use of the 800megahertz (MHZ) spectrum following the acquisition of Visafone.

Etisalat said it considered the action necessary to prevent the use of the spectrum by MTN at this time, as it will entrench the dominance of MTN in the retail data services market.

“You will recall that MTN Nigeria was declared dominant by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in 2013 and remains dominant in the wholesale leased line and retail voice markets.

The use of the 800MHz spectrum to deploy broadband services ahead of its competitors, particularly those who prior to MTNs purchase of Visafone, held similar spectrum bands as MTN, will further entrench MTN’s dominance in the Nigerian telecommunications sector,” Etisalat said in a statement confirmed by its Head of Media, Chineze Amanfo, yesterday.

The telco said it had, in addition to the legal action and in line with Section 86 of the Nigerian Communications Act,
2003, engaged the NCC to understand the basis of its decision to approve the acquisition. “As you are aware, the
matter is already in court as such, we are restrained from commenting further on the matter,” the telco added.

MTN had sued the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) over the imposition of N780billion fine on it by the regulator for harbouring some 5.2million pre-registered subscriber identity module (SIM) cards on its network in violation of extant rules.

Crime(Photo) Nigerian Employees Set Chinese Boss Home On Fire Just To Steal N450k by janzguy(op): 10:44am On Feb 07, 2016
The greed of 30-year-old Frank Chukwuneye and Abdullahi Zakari, 25, was on steroids, when they conspired to steal N450,000 from their employer, Tom Wu, a Chinese businessman based in Benin city, capital of Edo State.

The evil duo of Chukwuneye and Zakari were employed three months ago by Wu, to serve respectively as his interpreter and security guard.

While Chukwuneye was placed on a monthly salary of N70,000, the Chinese paid Zakari N30,000 per month. He did so regularly.

But demon of greed took hold of their minds and the seed of conspiracy was sown. During the yuletide period, on
December 29, Wu withdrew N450,000 from the bank. Upon reaching home, he asked Chukwuneye to put it on the top of the drawer in his bedroom. Later he went out with Chukwuneye.

Meanwhile, as Sunday Sun correspondent gathered from the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Ezike, Chukwuneye had conspired with Zakari to steal the money.

He gave Zakari the spare key to the bedroom of Wu and told him where to find the money. To ensure his cooperation, he also promised to give him N100,000, and this sealed the
conspiracy.

Narrating what happened next, Zakari told Sunday Sun in an interview at the headquarters of the State Criminal Investigation Department, where he and Chuwkuneye are being held in custody, as investigation progresses: “On December 30, 2015 when our Chinese master went out, I went to his bedroom, opened it with the key Frank gave me. I saw the N450,000 where they kept the money on the drawer. I took the N450,000, put in the hollow of a loudspeaker and then set the house on fire.”

Upon learning that his house was on fire, Wu rushed back home. Suspecting foul play, he went to Ugbor Police Station, accompanied by Chukwuneye, to make a formal report to the police.

The case was then transferred to the State CID Benin City, which commenced investigation immediately.

Ezike told Sunday Sun that the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chukwudi Ariekpare, SCID, told the officer-in-charge of general investigation, Supol Stella Ebikefe (SP), to dispatch a team of detectives. In course of investigation, the trail led to the two employees.

When properly questioned, they spilled the beans, confessed to the crime, and gave graphic details of the roles played by each of them. Chukwuneye in his confessional statement admitted that he was the mastermind of the evil act.

Expectedly, the victim, Wu, felt deeply betrayed by the two men he employed. He said: “I was shocked to learn that the two Nigerians I employed and made them comfortable and also paid them regularly committed the crime. I employed Frank as my interpreter and gave him everything he wanted, yet he betrayed me. He was the only person who knew that I brought N450,000 from the bank and put it in my bedroom. I want justice to be done and the police to recover my money from them.”

Ezike assured that the suspects would be charged to court soon.
