You know during the days of ogunvic, Gazzuzz was their accomplice, when it back fire Gazzuzz deny dealing with them, meanwhile I was one of the people they took to Gazzuzz workshop and a quotation of 150k was giving to me, claiming I will change everything in the car for it to be on the road, that was when I was chasing the 45k weekly rental offered by ogunvic.

That particular corolla is still on the road up till today, more than 1year 6months they advise me.

One banker somewhere in Anthony was also their victim, he spent more than 200k in fixing a corolla.

I dont think he is heartless. I dont think he is a scammer. I believe he is expensive for a lot of people who are used to Kazeem. No hyping but gazzuzz is a marketing genius. Why is he expensive? apart from his labor cost,from his posts you will see that a lot of part replacements are done with brand new OEM parts and these are not cheap. Unless there is sludge and oil burn, I doubt if he can use mobil XHP to service a car in his garage but lots of mechanics see no qualms with this.

Engine needs to be split up? whats that? making things complicated? google cold morning rattle camry. It is everywhere on the internet. You can even get a technical release on how to fix it. But it an expensive fix.

Engine type is 2.5L 4-cylinder 2AR-FE engine...I actually switched from the 0w-40 to the recommended 5w-30 oil type.

But the main culprit like I said earlier and upon inspection was using a wrong oil filter which was found to be disintegrated thereby causing a blockage leading to loss of oil pressure.

Bolts used to secure the variable valve timing control device can become loose, causing the vehicle to stop while being driven. Early warning for this condition can be identified as a brief rattle noise for approximately 1 second upon a cold start-up.

Description of Problem:
The subject vehicles are equipped with a Variable-Valve Timing (VVT) system which controls the camshafts to provide optimal valve timing under certain driving conditions. The bolts used to secure the housing and sprocket of the intake-side VVT gear assembly could become loose due to abnormal impacts generated within the gear assembly immediately after a cold start-up.

If this occurs, the VVT gear will not control the intake valves correctly. In certain cases, the VVT gear housing and sprocket could separate and result in the engine stopping while the vehicle is being driven, increasing the risk of a crash.

Toyota theorized that the condition could be related to an engine noise issue at start-up being investigated on certain engines. The VVT internal component could rattle when the lock-pin, which latches to the VVT housing and secures the internal components to maintain the camshaft in the most delayed position, unlatches at cold-start. Toyota conducted reproduction testing and was able to duplicate noise but was unable to duplicate the loose bolts condition.

Through reproduction testing, Toyota confirmed that, with the lock-pin disengaged during a cold engine start, the impact force between the VVT internal component and the housing could become larger if engine oil, which is pumped into the VVT unit to control the position of the camshaft, drains back into the oil pan while parked. In addition, Toyota theorized that the impact force varies in specific engine types due to cam profile and intake valve spring load. Toyota continued its investigation and testing to clarify the relationship between the impact force exerted inside the VVT housing at cold-start and bolt loosening.

Recived a call today from a man who sold a car to me in Nov 2017, he said he got a call from an individual who claimed he used the services of a driver who was using the said car and he left his phone in the car and the driver refused taking his calls (uber driver)

I had used the car for about 10 months and Re-Sold it, so I had to call the last buyer to find out what was going on. After a lot of back and forth the driver admitted to being with the phone and an arrangement was made for its return.

Mistake I made was selling car and giving it off with the plates, and reg documents. The uber rider was able to access ownership information (name, address, phone number) from the plate numbers. If this had been a greater crime I would have been roped into it without knowing.

My advise, if you sell a car, keep your plate numbers with you.

Your plate numbers are your property.

Oga I wonder why you dont get it. Uber na investment. So also LT. Most Uber cars are more expensive than those LTS yet they make more money. Whether they deliver to the owners is another thing entirely.

One night I was going from Lagos island to abule ado. It was 500naira. The LT carried 27 passengers. That's 13500. Even with surge the price of uber was 3870.

Chucsmoore, digest my comment very well. I never said drivers need to work for 10 years to have their own cars. When ehailing first started you hardly see a car owner driving but now around 50% of the drivers are car owners and this pace is increasing on daily basis. In years to come most drivers will be driving their own cars.
I also started this work 2 years as a driver driving for someone but its another story today. I will repeat this, the weekly rental with drop as low as 15k. Then all those claiming big madam will start driving their own car or abandon the business.

That's where you get the idea wrong. Nobody is claiming big madam they are only protecting their investments and unhappy they are not making money because of the drivers attitude. See why not buy a car and give it to a driver and then let him mess up your investment let's see whether you'll pat him on the back.

When there is a claim, you want to be in control of payments made. E.g if on H.P and vehicle is totaled after 6months of use and owner is able to retrieve 90per of the value of his vehicle, the crooked ones would want to discontinue the H.P plan and chop the payment.

axamansard is one of the few insurance company's that pay claims promptly (max 7days) ehailing almost ran them out of business, currently the will not even insure a vehicle on Ehailing. Imagine insuring 100cars on Ehailing and 90 of them filed claims above their insured value.

Now to your particular question. If your car is Brand new or toks of 10years old, if you smash your headlamp in an accident and you file a claim will you ask for a 10year old head lamp or a new one?

If your answer is new then you understand why the valuing system has changed. Since the insurer has to replace parts with new ones, there is really no difference between a 10year old car and a new car to the insurance company when it comes to claims.

Smaller mushroom insurance companies who do not pay claims promptly or put a lot of hurdles before paying claims will offer less on value of vehicle, but when it is time to pay claims they show their true colours.

So of you want any value then no excess buy back. Even with this, insurance is cheap in Nigeria. Some people pay as high as $150 monthly as insurance abroad.

secondly so I Wanted Axamansard to insure my 3-year old 2010 Camry.They have 2 types of Comprehensive; Auto Classic and Auto Plus. So i chose Auto Classic with excess buyback everything at 4.15% . So They valued my 2010 Camry that i have used for 3 years at N3,850,000:00. I dont know why they would value my car that high. My premium is 160k and on autoplus 183k..

Let me tell a small story here, on monday I was up 5am and restless, so I decided to leave the ouse really early, by 5:45am, I got to the junction of my house and turned on my uber app, I decided to go any where the wind blows, in my mind last last by 10am I would be in my workshop. Got a request and then the rains started.

Picked up rider and destination was illupeju.

According to map, ojoduberger- 7up-ojota was the fastest way there, but rider turned to choir master and started giving her own directions oba-akran-maryland- illupeju. I first showed her the red markings of traffic, but she no gree, so me I am not in a hurry to anywhere, nah so the total journey come be 1h44mins (1 hr spent in traffic) when we got to destination, I ended trip and she saw 2350 she come de shout! Said she only has 1500 but I should give my acc for the balance, me I read the rules to her, cash or card, I don't receive bank transfers I said we can go to an atm, she said she's already at work. In that case I said there's nothing I can do, You can leave have a nice day. She came down and I got another trip from same parking lot back to near my area.

Dropped passenger and pressed the report button, got a reply 20mins later that the trip I will be refunded.... Blabla bla they added another 500 for inconvenience sef. I smiled (uber for president!)

5hrs later I received another message, report on poor route, rider reported poor route trip now 0 naira
I mailed back I want my money refunded or DEACTIVATE ME I NO DRIVE AGAIN.

Several allies and relatives of the former president have been arrested on corruption charges. What effect is this crusade having on the country?

President João Lourenço’s anti-corruption crusade continues to surprise and delight – both in Angola and abroad – a year after he took office. Against most expectations when he was elected, the president (known sometimes as J-Lo) has opened several high-level investigations into elites who have enjoyed impunity for decades.

Lourenço’s most high-profile figures targets include family members and close associates of his predecessor, Jose Eduardo dos Santos. In the course of his 38-year rule, the former president had overseen widespread corruption and installed his family and allies into influential positions. Many expected the Dos Santos family to remain powerful despite ceding the presidency to Lourenço. It seems they were mistaken.

Jose Filomeno dos Santos, the son of the ex-president and former head of Angola’s sovereign wealth fund, was arrested in late-September. He remains in custody together with his former business associate, Jean Claude Bastos de Morais. They face charges of money-laundering, embezzlement, and fraud. Jose Filomeno also faces an additional charge related to a $500 million “get-rich-quick” scheme orchestrated in the final weeks of his father’s rule.

Isabel dos Santos, the ex-president’s eldest daughter, is also under investigation. She is alleged to have been involved in suspicious transactions that took place during her time as CEO of the state-owned oil firm Sonangol. Isabel, one of Africa’s richest women, was sacked from this post in November 2017, weeks after Lourenço’s inauguration.

It is not just the Dos Santos family, however, that is being targeted.

Valter Filipe, head of Angola’s central bank from 2016 to 2017, was charged in September with criminal association, embezzlement and money laundering for his alleged involvement in the $500 million transfer with Jose Filomeno. The same month, Ismael Diego, head of the former president dos Santos’ private foundation, was arrested over the alleged misappropriation of $20 million. Former minister Augusto Tomás was arrested on related charges.

Looking abroad, Angolan authorities also obtained global asset freeze orders in the UK, Switzerland and Mauritius against Quantum Global. The government accuses the Swiss asset manager, which oversees $3 billion of Angola’s $5 billion sovereign wealth fund, of mismanagement and overcharging for its services. Quantum Global’s chair, the aforementioned Jean Claude Bastos de Morais, is detained in Luanda.

Endemic corruption under Dos Santos
Endemic corruption in Angola runs deep, spreading to all corners of the country’s tightly-controlled economy. The problem soared after the end of the war in 2002 as growing oil production and high commodity prices fuelled ambitious reconstruction efforts. The rebuilding of the country has been impressive, but much money has been wasted or stolen. An estimated $28 billion from government budgets between 2002 and 2015 remains unaccounted for.

Like in other kleptocracies, much of Angola’s diverted assets have crossed international borders. Elites are known to shift their looted wealth abroad in order to hide their tracks or provide a refuge in case political winds change at home.

Under President Dos Santos, the will to tackle corruption was negligible. Scandals erupted but were quickly shoved under the carpet. This was the case, for example, when BESA, Angola’s second-largest bank, collapsed in 2014 under the weight of bad loans worth $5.7 billion or approximately 80 % of the bank’s debt portfolio. Angolan authorities were keen to play down the impact of the banks problems even as it emerged that the majority of these bad loans had been handed out as favours to the family and friends of dos Santos.

Changing the rules
President Lourenço’s approach so far has differed markedly from that of his predecessor. But the question remains of what effects his anti-corruption crusade will have on the country.

His administration recently passed the Law on the Repatriation of Financial Resources. This legislation establishes a 180-day amnesty period for those who voluntarily repatriate ill-gotten gains based in foreign bank accounts. After this period, authorities can forcibly recover such funds.

The government hopes the return of embezzled assets will help with Angola’s current economic woes as it faces fragile growth, high debt and high inflation. Officials estimate that over $30 billion of illicitly transferred capital is held outside the country. Yet it may struggle to recover much of this sum; campaigns against grand corruption undertaken elsewhere have typically delivered limited monetary returns.

Indeed, Lourenço’s anti-corruption initiatives may be more likely to help the economy in indirect ways. His efforts to tackle corruption after decades of inaction, for example, have been well-received by officials in Washington. Positive recognition from the International Monetary Fund could prove important as the Angolan authorities negotiate new funding.

It is perhaps politically, though, that Lourenço’s new approach is having the most impact. His anti-corruption drive and marginalisation of the dos Santos family have dramatically changed the political climate at home. Even as the economy continues to struggle, Angolans are exhibiting a kind of optimism that has not been seen for years.

Crucially, much support for Lourenço’s reforms has come from within the ruling MPLA party. This internal backing has allowed the new president to consolidate his own power whilst pushing out his opponents and allies of his predecessor. He has challenged the interests of elites, which have remained largely untouched for years.

Lourenço’s presidency has shaken up Angola after nearly four decades under Dos Santos. However, despite rising hope in much of Angola and abroad, it remains unclear whether his actions represent an end to the country’s kleptocracy or if it is merely being reshaped under the helm of the new leader. For now, it is still too early to say where Angola is going under Lourenço, but the rules of the game certainty seem to be changing.
