iyke2frankeze:Two factors that majorly influence tax are population and industrialization. If state A has more VAT return to FG than state B, it simply implies that state A is either more industrialized than state B or more populated or both. Now if the state is more industrialized, then it will have more IGR. This is my basic understanding. I maybe wrong. Because, Lagos and Rivers have always maintained high IGR and high VAT(industries and population). Same with Ogun(industries), Kano(population), Kaduna and Oyo states. But the question now is: why can't they fund their budgets? |
Newton85:I read engineering but worked in bank. Why I like accounting and money is that no matter how you manufacture figures, the money at hand must always expose you. |
Insecurity:So What happened to those states with higher IGR and VAT than Anambra state? Even with lower budget, they will still depend largely on FG allocation to meet up with the provisions of their budget. So what changed? |
Dicado:under Christian president? |
Drakkernoir:That his book is a can of worms. He just stoked fight for himself and those he work with. |

adenigga:This woman and this her playing to the gallery. Please nothing like Chibok girls kidnap. No sensible human will be worried about those girls. Those that kept them will eventually release them; either through the front door or the back door |
Baawaa:Poverty is a thing of the mind and it's a choice. You can choose it. |

These two giants were in their seperate houses only to be visited by a dwarf. The dwarf was humbled by the manner these two giants welcomed him, that he promised to be fetching water and firewood for them. As time went on, these great giants started fighting over who the dwarf will serve first. This fight led to the dwarf charging for his services, because one of the dwarf suggested that to the dwarf since he was richer. Then the dwarf started dividing them in order for him to make more money since if they ever reconcile, they may decide never to pay for the service. |
PHIPEX:SW is in South and they've done well in forcing APC to surrender the ticket to South. But put your ears on the group and hear the sounds of the beat. 1. Go and read the statement of Senator Hanga, former national chairman of CPC, on why he left APC. The party is destroyed by the north so they can take power through PDP. It's a ploy. That convention of next year is just a fluke because once Boni Haruna precides on the convention, APC ceases to exist. It's their plan. 2. Two weeks ago, Orji Kalu had meeting with PDP leaders. Mind you, he is a principal member of the Senate(chief whip); yet he is hold open meeting with opposition. If you will take out time to monitor the statements of some prominent northern figures and the body language of Buhari towards APC, you will understand my point. Next years, many northern APC governors will join PDP. Take it to bank. In PDP, NC and NE are laying claim and they have strong points and popular politicians. |
hollah123:Politics is more than what you read on the pages of newspaper. Tinubu once had adverse opinion on Buhari, but see them today. OBJ fought Atiku to a standstill but what happened in 2019? FFK has been a strong critic of Buhari, did it stop Buhari from personally welcoming him to APC? Ayo Adebanjo, late Yinka Odumakin, Chief Olu Falae and host of Afenifere have taken turns to disparage the north. Yakasai, El Rufai, Sanusi, Junaid Mohammed, Ango Abdullahi and host of ACF and NEF have taken turns to disparage the South West. But did it stop the two regions from working? In politics, mutual suspicion is inevitable, but on the table interests take precedence. Atiku is loved in the East than in the West: does that mean Atiku can't pick his running from West? There's no trust in politics, it's all game of interest and you only trust yourself to protect your interest. |
delpee:Is there any smoke without fire? So it was even debunked by his office? If you know what that means in administration. |
Esseite:The stumbling block to a SE president are NE and NC. Because based on my understanding of politics, these zones have strong points. But you SW, NW and SS, nobody is even looking at them. Forget all these noise. |
Sonyboom765:Why call him fool? With this your reaction, I will never take you serious and no good man will. |
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/12/2023-north-now-a-human-abattoir-power-should-go-the-southeast-arewa-groups/
The South East is not relenting at all. With the rate some voices are speaking up in the north, no matter the motive behind them, shows they're working hard. By May 2022, the contenders and pretenders would've been known. |
alanto:Where did I expect? ![]() |
JavaScript9091:That Yemi is the person doing all those things. But let's see to what end. |
funshint:Yahaya Bello is better than Sanwo Olu What did Sanwo do when northerners killed many Yorubas in Fagba Lagos? With killings going on in Osun state: what has Oyetola done? Should we mention Makinde? |
JavaScript9091:It's not Buhari making. South West media is out to make South East look disadvantaged in every indices so they will have been defeated psychologically before the main fight next year. |
seunolu7:Really? Appears majority of people on this platform were born from 1995. Because the way some of analyse politics and the energy with which they sound wack and pointless depict that of toddler that can stay under the sun and be eating dust from morning till night. Who were candidates of SDP? MKO and Kingibe Who were candidates of NRC? Tofa and Dr Ugo. And you expect South East to vote for SDP when their son is vice in NRC? Also the rapacious MKO with his diarrhea mouth vomiting nonsense during campaign, he even tried in the East. Some of you need to see these things. Abiola used money to buy his way into the hearts of Nigeria but Tofa has better program for the country. If the south west voted APC because of Osibanjo, why vilify the East for voting NRC because of Dr Ugo? You lots are becoming nuisance and behaving like bull in Chinese shop. |
freemi:I no longer stress myself telling people the song is good. ICONS + Patriots + Marians + other bandwagon are doing their worst. Whitemoney is even planning another release ![]() |
https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2021/12/10/akande-buhari-promised-to-pick-tinubu-as-running-mate-in-2015-then-reneged/
I read everything because I'm a student of politics. My take away: The man said "this position is for South West and in Yoruba, religion is none issue". This implies that Yoruba leaders see VP of Nigeria as an ethnic property and not Nigeria. They believe the VP must serve the interest of South West and not that of Nigeria. No wonder the in VP staff, you hardly find someone from another tribe. It was evident from word go that Buhari is not a man of his own. He was always dragged into action and would always go with his tribe. This has not changed. Adams Oshiomole has always been with Tinubu and he was rewarded with national chairman. Same Tinubu was rewarded with Yomi Osibanjo, Speaker, Senate President, ministers of works, housing and power. FIR, Budget office, and juicy contracts. So nobody should come and say "Buhari owes Tinubu". That's why other party members are spoilt for war because they have seen the Tinubu is greedy. Finally, this book launch is ill timed. It will unsettle some power brokers. People like OBJ, Buhari, Northern elders and some Yoruba elders. Maybe it was done in a bid to force Buhari into supporting Tinubu, but a close look will tell you that Bisi Akande bare it all and isn't happy with the president. I salute his courage. |
Willie Obiano has done his best but to Ndi Anambra, his best is not good enough. I find it rather disgusting the manner which his media team attack Mr. Peter Obi. The EFCC story may not be real but how could majority of Anambra people receive the news with lots of excitement if the governor did well? Initially, they said it's Andy Uba and Malami. Now it's Peter Obi. How unserious can one be? |
hisexcellency34:Old one, please enjoy the proceed of corruption from your good days in politics. Don't make remarks that will drive the youths in exhuming your time as gov so it won't overshadow the fallacy you put together and call it book. |
CRUISETOPIAVP:So much for someone who is excelling in his calling. Please dear, your calling may not be anything other than Nairaland BBN. Because you spend more than 60% of your time here trolling someone that make not know of nairaland platform. If actually your calling is not nairaland troll master, then you're not excelling in any other thing. You are just a mediocre in that part time job. This here is your calling and your passion: take it to another level. Don't waste your time on another hustle. Give your 100% and you will see how you will be rewarded. |
CRUISETOPIAVP:You know how Efe started. You know how Whitemoney started. You know how Laycon started. Now the question is: how did you start? |
CRUISETOPIAVP:You know the calling of everyone: hope you also know your own calling. |
The major problem with Igbos is MEDIA. The East has no formidable home grown media outfit that can speak for them, change narratives and sell the zone to the world. East have allowed outsiders to Tell their stories: Both print and electronic media. Imagine during Anambra election, Arise Tv anchored the debate. It used to be Channels and AIT. What a shame! No media outfit from South East is on DSTV or big media platforms like that. No one to Tell our stories. You see our politicians coming to lagos just to meet Ruben Abati or Seun. What people understand about us is what the media say about us. And you can't rule out sentiments in media. Imagine the Anambra Airport not getting the much needed attention. In all the states of the federation, which governor can be compared to Dave Umahi? Which governor could start a massive project like airport and finished it within 15 months? These are governors of South East. But why we complain of marginalization, some people will say our governors are not working. But our governors are better than their governors. Just that the media don't cover our governors but theirs are enjoying media coverage. You noticed how media have made every crime committed in the East an IPOB thing. You have they continued to call 1966 coup as Igbo coup. This is evil the media commit. But it's their business. This media coverage translate into national politics. The people with more media coverage tend to be called on the high tables. No wonder Dr Fayemi of Ekiti state is ranked higher than Umahi and Obiano. When in actual sense, Enugu governor beats every governor in South West hands down: including Lagos governor. The Abia state governor that has become an object of ridicule can stand with Ondo governor in terms of performance. Oh yes. These are places I've been to. The insecurity in Imo state is exaggerated by the media but do you know that Osun and Oyo state have more security issues to worry about? I've been to these areas and seen how Chinese miners pay to Nigerians to be killing themselves. Armies wasting people's lives. Northerners are not left out. Why it appears northerners are not reckoned is because they have their rating system; BBC Hausa Radio. It is only the likes of El Rufai and Tambuwal that tend to listen to southern media. And that media don't usually rate on conventional things. Once the governor is good with prominent Islamic and traditional leaders; then good relationship with UK representatives, he is fine. So I encourage Igbos to invest in media and not mushroom media houses but heavyweights. It is untapped potential in the East because the market is there. Ask Brila FM Onitsha how the business is going. You will not regret it. |
etokhana:Which one is "angry students were later joined by hoodlums". Who are the hoodlums and how did you identify them to be so? This country stinks. |
In the recent times, there has been a concerted effort by some people to use media to hoodwink the South East into submission. Information is power. And the good Book, Bible says "Faith comes by hearing". In other words, believe comes by hearing. That is to say, when these information are churned out continuously, the more people read them, the more they believe the lies therein. There are the report on VAT, IGR, Least secured, dirtiest zones, unemployment rate, etc and it all these reports, the performance of South East is highlighted and made to be discussed nationally in all SM platforms. The achievement of these craftsmen is that so many Igbos are beginning to buy into the lies and behaving accordingly. This is one of things information tend to achieve. One shouldn't be worried because we are in a political season and every one is employing every strategy to outwit the other. But to what end? Today, one of those reports from Cable Platform suggests the South East is the most unemployed zone in Nigeria. Please what are the basis for this report? Is it employment as in government jobs or private sector jobs or both? Let's look at this: The South East is about 85% Igbos. The South West is about 15% Igbos The South South is about 20% Igbos The north west is about 10% Igbos The north central is about 10% Igbos The north East is about 5% Igbos (These are rough estimates; they could be higher or lower) With the above, ask yourself this simple question: How many commercial banks and MFBs are in my state compared to South East states? How many Igbos work in them? How many industries are in South East compared to my state? How many of my people work in South East? Despite all these Aba, Onitsha and Nnewi market: How many of my people do business in East? How many Igbos do business in all these big big markets in my state? The propaganda going on is akin to what we saw in 2015 elections and this is where we are today. Don't let anyone fool you, Nigeria unemployment is very very high. They use division to deceive the gullible that their zones are doing well, when in actual sense, we are going down to abyss. |
