greatestluv4all: To my fellow muslim sister, your candid and honest opinion is required and even the brothers too.
I have two suitors, a muslim and a non muslim.
Both have asked for my hand in marriage and have met their respective families.
Here is the challenge
The muslim is married with kids and only willing to take me as his second wife. We know every woman wants a man for her self alone.
The non muslim have told me I have to leave my religion, the parents even reiterated these on my last visit.
Both are gainfully employed and are serious about the proposal.
As a muslim sister, if you are in my shoe, what will you do?
Brothers, help a sister. There can be a third option. You wont die if you don't marry either. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: One Word That Denied Me My First Job Offer In An Interview by Jarus(m): 2:37pm On Jun 23, 2015 |
Ambi25: It was one faithful morning after my regular job search on the internet job Search portal, i came across a job advert it was about a 5 star hotel recruitment, i read the requirement with interest.
All the requirement fit my Qualification so, i decided to apply for the job as a store Manager. Three days later i was invited for an interview, i was excited to attend my first job interview with high hope of landing the job.
I did all i could practising, Reseaching about the company Mission and Vision. The first stage of the interview was a writen test and thank God i pass the first stage and was shortlisted for the second stage of the interview.
I felt so happy that faithful day when i got a congratulatory massage for the next stage of the interview after three days. On the final day of the interview, about 100 people were invited, although there were some gate crashing people waiting for slite opportunity to grab.
The interview was going on well but this one word "yea" i used instead of yes denied me my first job. I was told to go home that they will get back to me, at that moment i knew that was the end, i felt so disappointed dragged my feet like someone that was heat by a truck.
My advice to job seekers is that they should always use the right words during interview to avoid this kind of situations.
http://nigeriacurrentaffairs1..in/2015/06/one-word-that-denied-me-my-first-job.html I seriously doubt that was the cause of your not landing the job, moreso for a store keeper position in a hotel. It is highly unlikely that the interviewer is a core HR person who will give attention to such little things. I seriously doubt saying "yea", instead of "yes" can deny you "store keeping" job in a hotel, not a newscasting job, not a job in GE, not a job in even KPMG. I have similar experience with same word: yea. My own was probably worse, I was expressly corrected by the interviewer (the COO of a downstream oil company). "Please don't say 'yeah' to me again", she expressly told me in that chat (Meet the COO chat - after passing all previous stages). I apologized and the conversation continued. Guess what? I mistakenly answered "yeah" again less than 2 minutes after that correction. She didn't bother to say anything the second time, she knows this guy's case is irredeemable(LOL). And I still got the job. This was 2008 as an entry level candidate, and this woman was the most feared in that company. My case was worse, as I was expressly corrected and I still committed it the second time. But they didn't think it was strong enough for me not to get the job. *** Related: I was in another interview few years after and I used "guys" to describe the management of my then current company. I said "These guys have done well managing this company, but I needed to move one..." One of the interviewers - again a woman - interjected, "who are the guys?", and I told her I was referring to the Executive Management of my then company. She commented that it wasn't polite of me to address my management as "guys", and we continued our conversation. |

Dis all started because of me Your comment was highly unsportmanly and borders on bad loss, especially for a team that has won all but this, but that was none of my business. I was mad at the fool that attributed his loss to my being OAU graduate as if I wasn't the Judge in all the previous debates that OAU lost, including this one (by my judging scores alone). I don't joke with my integrity and fairness at all. And I don't suffer fool gladly either. |

LaurelP: 7. See if you can discover a problem with the company: In my last interview, I told dem dat d company is loosing a lot of money becos they're not active on d social media. I explained to them and they were like woow! Dat was what gave me the job! Try if u can see a problem dat the company has and blow it out of proportion! They will employ u.
NB: These tips will work wonders only if you have already taken your time to prepare and also research the company.
[/i] This is a stunner. In 2009, one of my friends was trying to move from P&G to Oando Marketing (Downstream). He was the one that advised them when they asked for any comment/question at the interview, that many of their stations looked old and not so modern compared to Total and Mobil. The next year, it topped their budget to revamp/remodel their stations in phases, starting with the big ones like Maryland and a few others. That question touched the management. It was a feedback from an interviewed candidate (my friend) that turned out to trigger a key decision by the company the next year. My friend got the job but didn't take it (couldn't agree pay). |

Nunushokoto: School : FUNAAB
‘‘What an elderly man sees while sitting, even if a young man climbs the highest mountain, he will not be able to see it" – Nigerian Proverb. If you want to know the taste of a pear, you must change the pear by eating it yourself. If you want to know the theory and methods of revolution, you must take part in revolution.
I use this medium to greet the organizers of this debate, the indefatigable judges, my ever-ready co-debaters and every single member of this great forum. The question as to whether the youths can make a good leader is a question in the heart of so many Nigerians. In the current situation of the nation that we found ourselves, we often find ourselves looking in all nooks and corners for the best candidate to ease the nation of its pain. Since the old have failed, we now ask if the young can prevail where the old had failed. The truth is that despite the fact that the young provides the country with so many essentials, we are unfit and incapable of driving this nation to its prime. We are passionate, and we are driven, but we are inexperienced. And the indisputable fact about experience is that it is the best of teachers.
Even science has proven that is it impossible to possess all the necessary qualities of a ruler at tender ages. The prefrontal cortex of the brain that is responsible for decision making, personality expression, moderating social behavior, and planning complex cognitive behavior is not fully developed until the age of 25. All the listed implications are necessary for any individual who is to be in a position of a leader.
I always look back with fondness at the period of my life spent in primary school. I absolutely loved the songs we used to sing in morning assembly. One of those songs was: “Children listen to your parents, we are the leaders of tomorrow… Try to pay our school fees and give us sound education”. We had such fun times in primary school, but we now sing that same song with a reaction different from the reaction we gave it when we were kids. Instead of smiles and legs lifted higher in march like we did in school then, the song is being greeted with snickers and sighs. I wonder, and I am still wondering, are youths really ready to be leaders of tomorrow (or today as the case maybe)?, Are we as lazy as the older Nigerian generation seems to believe we are? Or are we simply not being given a chance to lead.
Young people are fitter to invent than to judge, they are fitter to question than to answer, fitter for execution than to counsel. And it is not to say that we are not fit to rule the nation, but we are unfit to rule a nation likeNigeria. What Nigeria need is a strong experienced and diplomatic leader. That is not a leader we can produce. Most youths are very fond of talking about the things we would love to change about the country, but we do nothing, we just sit behind our laptops and technology, shamelessly menacing the Internet population with our views of revolution and imperialism. We are not revolutionaries or imperialists, we only sing of these notions on social media interface where nothing can be done, but much can be said. All talk and no action. If we keep acting the way we do, if we keep thinking the way we do, then let me assure you that the reality of that song we all sang when we were in primary school will forever elude us. Thanks
Good argument, but no examples. |

I have a similar story.
In 2001 on my way to Ife from Kwara to resume school as a jambite, I was wearing a polo shirt I bought from a local boutique. In my thinking I had gotten a nice cloth as a university student. Only to see by the roadside in one of the villages on the road, a boy going to the farm, wearing a dirty, probably torn version of that polo, carrying basket on the head and, I think, holding cutlass.
That was when I knew I was a local champion. I never attempted to compete among friends, not to talk of classmates, in terms of dressing in my 4 years in Ife. I was just my natural self. |

olowoba: This is a source of concern. I write for a few friends of mine - hardworking and nice guys (30+ years) working in various reputable firms in Nigeria. But 3, 4, 5 years after, they are still searching for the lady of their heart desires. I also notice the trend everywhere I go.
Just as we complain about the growing number of unmarried ladies, I'm also worried abt the growing number of unmarried, comfortable men who are over 30 years.
A case in study is a popular friend of mine who has been working in the oil sector for more than 5 years. He clocks 33 this year. He still remains unmarried. He says he is still searching. I can count more than 10 of my friends - comfortable, hale and healthy, gainfully employed but single after working for more than 5 years..What can be the cause? Are ladies getting scarce, or is it that there are few "wife materials" in town now? or are they simply afraid of making commitment?
Got a colleague like that too. |
