Chanchit:Not new Son (Sam Ikoku, AG) contested against his father (Alvan Ikoku, NCNC) in the Federal legislative elections in the 1950s. |
Morkavictor:Oshiomole elected as governor on Labour Party platform? Kai, this is what NL politics section has degenerated into. Only very few quality analysts left. Ignorance everywhere. |
discusant:Ignorance. Same Atiku GEJ floored in PDP primary in 2011? Same Atiku Buhari under ANPP floored in 2007 elections as ACN candidate? Run for money indeed |
PHfinest:We used the services of Tinubu to bring about change (Fashola) in Lagos. |
Which one will make her become First Lady? |
Sanusi has denied this report. He said he doesn't have a twitter handle. |
First, I doubt Sanusi has a twitter handle and the said comment is most likely not from him. Second, the title of that article is far from the quoted comment. It is very unfortunate that a newspaper like Vanguard will distort truth or make mischievous inference in order to nail someone. Their political editor, Gabriel Omoh, has been a sworn enemy of Sanusi since he started his reforms in 2009. He was also the one that cast that famous but unsubstantiated story in Vanguard in February 2009 that the North planned to take over 5 banks. Well, I have sent to Vanguard link to Emir to confirm whether he said so. Will report feedback |
Can I do it? No, except if occasion extremely demands it (e.g that's the only way I can carry my baby at that point in time) Do I have any problem with anyone that does it? Absolutely no. You cannot dictate to a man what he should do or what he should not in the name of exposure or superiority, except it is illegal. |
Well, the Qur'an lays down who is a good Muslim. So it's not a matter of personal definition or what anyone feels. |
She likes me to apologise, or say "sorry", even when not at fault. Which I rarely do. |
hectorswag:I agree. Nigerian recruiters are still stuck to traditional recruitment system. Headhunting not so developed here |
LinkedIn played a role when I changed job almost 3 years ago. How? I had an interview with the company, and the email invite said: Ask to see XYZ when you get there. I had no clue about the company before that final interview because up until that time, the firm the recruitment was outsourced to (one of the Big 4 professional services firms) did not tell me the name of the company. The Guardian advert and at all the earlier interviews, just said "a leading E&P company with operations in one of the Niger Delta states". It was with the invite to this final stage where I was to meet the company that the company name was revealed to me. I googled the name of the contact on the email (LinkedIn wasn't so popular then) and Google directed me to his LinkedIn profile. I checked his profile and saw he once worked with one of the affiliate companies to the company I was working then. I quickly got in touch with a friend in that affiliate company whether she knew A who once worked in their company. She said yes, that in fact he was his close friend and they attended same church. I guessed he was going to be part of the interview panel. I got as much information about him as I could from this mutual friend. I also got info about the company from him. Co-incidentally, I heard they also used this mutual friend to do background check on me. He was at the interview panel. I got the job. Other Related Experiences I got interview invite from one of the telecoms companies. I applied through Linkedin. I was also contacted on LinkedIn by an investment banker in the United States who asked for my opinion on one very top Nigerian oil company CEO after coming across an article I wrote about the person few years back. I guess he was doing background check/research about the company and their CEO. |
There is one madman, called soole, in my town. As a primary school kid in early 90s, we used to tease him on way to school. Today, more than 20 years after, he's still there. |
How can you say these are the most feared? Ever heard of alapansapa? |
WhiteTechnology:Oga, it is not use and dump. SW just finished 8 years with Obasanjo. We can afford not to have a candidate on the ticket for now. I would have preferred Oshiomole but let him finish his tenure in Edo. Amaechi is not a bad choice. |
Wittylens:Stop rigging Buhari's age. He will be 72 next week. Zik contested at 79 in 1983 |
None. Not a phone freak (or better put, since stopped being a phone freak). Just any phone I can use to make call and browse Nairaland, with good keypad. |
ICHINONYE:This is how to know newbie political analysts. Even without a platform as big as APC, he scored more than 30% in all the three times he had contested, despite contesting against incumbent or incumbent backed, even when the electoral umpires were highly compromised. I cannot say Buhari will win, but I know he will poll 40% minimum. Quote me. |
The Shoprite of then |
I think Bisi Akande get swagger pass Odigie as APC National Chair. |
Seun:See below by TEHN coordinator. |

How about the "English Speakers"? Two people, when one bashes the other, will park at the middle of the road and start speaking grammar, while other road users become spectators for those 10 minutes. If they're women, 20 minutes. |
Nairalander Lukman Jaji (javalove) was part of the winners. I don't know whether he attended. Seun was listed as among Top 100 Outstanding Young Nigerians to meet President Jonathan at Aso Rock on an expanded version of the award last year. Expectedly, Seun didn't show up. I'm a critic of this award for being too entertainment-centric (makes it look like Musicians and Comedians are the only youths doing great things in Nigeria), but I think some of those guys like Seun, like Javalove, are worth celebrating. Meanwhile Chude go don hammer o |
I watched a couple of his Hausa home videos when I was living with my brother and I used to spend the evenings with our Hausa gatemen. Funny guy Inna lilahi wa Inna ilaehi rajiun. |
Surprised too, I must confess. Another high point for Fashola/Lagos SG. |
Omexonomy:Myopic you. One northerner dwarfs all the 30 of them combined: Dangote |

There was no job. They wanted to scam you. Along the line, maybe before "resumption" or on "resumption" day, they will ask you to pay. |
Awards Seun Osewa doesn't give a hoot about, despite serial nominations. |
Rigged poll, not necessarily by the pollsters but by Atiku's Social Media machinery who may have mobilized for the poll. How can the "comment-to-vote" results be different from the "click-to-vote" result? Very unlikely, except some people are massively clicking. However, the supposed victory of the former Vice-President at the poll was contradicted by an inherent corroborative measure which comes with the DAILY POST poll. This refers to the alternative means of voting that allows respondents to also vote through their comments in a bid to produce a foolproof result. In this regard, Buhari routed Atiku as well as the other aspirants by attracting endorsements from an outstanding majority of all who made valid comments. The former Head of State’s impressive showing in this part of the poll confirms the generally-held belief that he enjoys a cult followership. For his supporters went beyond merely voting in support of him into sealing it with their comments. |
