The origin of the word Kudeti, an area in Ibadan, is "too dirty", how a whiteman described the place when he visited. |
#17 and #19 the most popular in my growing up years (at home and in school). Of course, I underwent both. |
DesChyko: Obinoscopy, MatthewBriggs, AbuMikey, Fynestboi, Jarus,Thanks boss. Fine here. |
Lero15: Jarus, are you Igbomina?1, No, Ibolo (Offa) 2, Arsenal since 1999 Thanks |
yinkeys: @Jarus oga, please I'd love to know which EPL team you support. Hopefully, it's ArsenalGunner since 1999. |
otokx: He better get across to Victor Moses and the chap in Manchester United - Iheanacho, we need solid defenders not all these brief men, if shola amobi can play defense well and good. The ejide keeper can join him there, we need muscle in the team, Mikel played well and should remain but ogenyi should be warned not to join in the attack he should not go beyond the center circle.Lol Keshi eats the humble pie. But it's a good development. I just believe the Uche brothers are not spent. As is Martins. |
South Africa has never beaten Nigeria in any competitive national team (male) football match, home or away. This won't be different, even in this low form. The only time they beat Nigeria was Mandela cup 2004, which was not competitive. |
slydog: Hello jarus, I plan on getting mine on or before 29, but am working and combining work and school ain't easy. I understand you are a consultant, could you pls advice me? Thanks in anticipationI don't have a PhD, so may not be able to give first-hand advice. However, what I know is it is fatser abroad than in NIgeria, with all these Nigerian universities wahala. Also, it is faster when you face it squarely (or with teaching in the university you're doing it) than when combined with work. |
BabaO2: Petty religion petty people, why 'islamising' it. This is awfulCould you tell me how it was Islamized? If a Christian public figure (even President) achieves a success and goes for thanksgiving in church, I'm sure you won't remember to make this comment. And this is not even a religious, a mosque event, but a community event. Some people will never see anything good in a Muslim. But some of us don't care actually. We are used to people like you. |
NobleG1: Ebola is NOT the only sickness that has high temperature as symptom? There hundreds if not thousands of sicknesses (both serious and mild) that have it as a symptom!Yes, but since Ebola is one of them, it is not too far off to use that as temporary screen at this time. High temperature is a red flag for anything; let anyone with it go see his doctor |
ga1ba2003: the person that was the best PhD student in unilag last section was just 23 yrs old so I guess he should make top 15Don't be surprised if there are as many as 100 between 20 and 23years. My friend got his at 29. |
femi4: Especially that Jarus players rating, you go soon see am for fp here we go: https://www.nairaland.com/1891105/nigeria-vs-congo-player-rating#up |
A better-forgotten game for the Super Eagles. A very commendable display by the Congolese. On an evening, I expected a whitewash from the Eagles, here we go again. Anyway, player rating: Ejide: A bad game. No composure. Didn't look like a professional. He could have done better in the second goal. Only one good save. 3/10 Echiejile : His wing was exploited by the speedy Congolese. Poor overlapping. 3/10 Ambrose: Good goal. But fizzled out thereafter. Didn't see much of his traditional cut-and-cross. 4/10 Oboabona: Poor game. Beginning to make me ask questions whether we have not overrated him. Beaten easily by the Congolese attack. Gave away possession for the second goal 2/10 Omeruo : Well, well, poor game. Didn't do much to stop the rampaging Congolese attack. Maybe better than his defence partner 3/10 Onazi: Was livelier in the midfield than Mikel, but poor judgment that resulted in penalty. Tried in the defensive midfield, but below what we expected still 4/10 Azeez: Also a little lively in the midfield in the first half, but couldn't get grip of the midfield before he fizzled out 3/10 Mikel: On a day you would have expected this Chelsea to show his class and experience against the minnows that these Congolese are (yes, the are minnows), this guy still couldn't do anything extra-ordinary. No through pass. No initiation of attack. Even Onazi and Azeez were more visible. 2/10 Oduamadi: Anonymous in the first half. Not a threat to the Congolese defenders. Save for a through pass to Nwofor which he couldn't convert, he didn't do anything up front. 3/10 Musa: Looked the most dangerous up front in the first half. Nice cross that resulted in first goal. He should have done better as the most experienced of our attack in the first half. 5/10 Nwofor: Handed the top striking role in the first half but didn't deliver. He was like a pedestrian on the field for the most part. A through pass from Oduamadi that he should have converted was also wasted. 2/10 SUBS Nosa: Created more chances up front than Azeez but his miss was unforgivable. 3/10 Emenike: Thrown in when Eagles needed goals desperately. Didn't score. Created chances towards the tail end though. 4/10 Salami: The Balotelli of Nigerian Premier League was also thrown on board when SE desperately needed a goal. Managed to put in consolatory goal. Not much was seen of him. 5/10 Keshi: No comment 2/10 ALL CONGOLESE PLAYERS: Great game. 9/10 LEROY: Embarrassing Nigeria since 1988: 10/10 LAST BULLET: You win some, you lose some. I'm not so embittered. In any case, SE's usual wives, Bafana Bafana, go hear wien on Wednesday |
Stupid defending. Poor attacking. Oduamadi and Nwofor should be yanked off for Emenike and Aluko joor. |
NobleG1: It shows how st*upid some Nigerians are. What has BP (Blood Pressure) got to do with body temperature? They're checking temperature, not BP. And yes, severely high temperature is a classic symptom of Ebola. I endorse the measure. A lot of people that had contact with the PH doctor are still at large. |
It's done in my office too. For both employees in the morning and visitors before entering. Trained security personnel politely tell the visitors. If above 38'c, for employees, asked to go home or to the hospital, for visitor politely turned backed. High temperature is one of the earliest symptoms of Ebola. Mine was between 34-36 Monday to Friday this week. |
FrancisTony: Point out the 'gbagaun' and don't just shake head.I'm sorry, I don't spoon-feed. The errors are too glaring. |
Damzy997: @Jarus,,,,u ar ryt,i love ur nyc approach,,,i actually copied nd pasted it wil d hop of motivating students nd not to make fp ,,,, ,sorry if it's ur article cuz i actually copied it frm a post in myschool.com,,,,,,,TnxI sent an email to the guys at myschool to give credit to the author and the link, but they have not responded. |
edo3: I believe say d person wey post ds trash is a staff of Dana or sosoliso airlines...they want to make believe that they are not alone in this airlines mishaps...Guys, grow up. They're talking of international flights here. More so, you saw 4, 5 cases there. How many times have Dana planes crashed? Dana recorded 1, Sosoliso 1, Bellview 1. If at all you guys know air history in Nigeria, you should be talking of ADC, not Dana or Sosoliso. |
coded80: I didn't have to look at this twice before recalling where I read it first. It really disgusts me when people like OP take credit for another person's work....A thread with good content such as this could hit FP and OP would be receiving all accoladesThanks bro. |
This is my article (minus the introduction). I first wrote it as a post on NL six years ago: https://www.nairaland.com/163757/secrets-first-class-students I later converted it to full article when I opened my blog in 2013. It is also part of the 48 articles in my book, The Road to Victoria Island. |
FrancisTony: Why should they be respected when what most of them do is "la cram, la pour. With this written English, one can only shake his head. |
youngwolf: Good morning nairalanders. I graduated from uni 2 years ago, finished my Nysc last year october. I'm here in my office thinking of the last one year after service and how far I ve progressed. I took time out to list out all the tests I have written in the past one year and I have had regret mails. I have a job now but I know I can have something better if I put in a better effort. I'm still in my early 20s and I had a 2.1 in the university. Let me list the companys where I have had regret mailsMy friend got regret emails from Accenture and Vetiva but ended up in Shell - the biggest fish!!! The fact that you keep getting invites is soothing. At least, they're inviting you; many graduates don't even get called for tests. That is your 2.1 working for you. I must admit tests can be one stubborn stumbling block. I personally believe that tests are more difficult than interviews. That said, you need to work on yourself, keep practicing job tests - SHL, GMAT etc. It may not be Math alone. You may need to work on your English (verbal reasoning) as well based on your post up there. |
I reason with OP's line of thought. Truth is Nairaland is a world on its own - like every other place we meet, the only difference is it is online. Some people (I'm not excluded) practically live all our lives here. I have struck offline friendships with many people (especially guys) that I met on NL. I almost married on Nairaland (i.e a Nairalander), actually. That was 2009- 2010.One very popular female Nairalander, who has since quit, once confessed that she had a crush on me in our offline discussions later on. ![]() There is little difference between our real life interactions and interactions here. We have recorded not less than 5 NL marriages. I however believe there will always be a way to meet a Nairalander you genuinely have interest in, PM or no PM. |
Hmmnnn |
True. I get a room for 340 Dh (approximately N15k) per night in a 3 star hotel in Bur Dubai. You wont get that at our Eko Hotel in Lagos here. And that is Dubai that is a top tourist city where hotels are expected to be expensive. Very annoying |
chizzy94: Same thing Total E&P asked me after acing their test...Naivety at play. I seriously doubt Total E&P will recruit you based on who you know for the purpose of connection. I know what you're talking about. It is a known fact that IOCs seek as much information as possible from applicants - some multi-stage online forms, with different sections and different questions. Such companies have robust systems, globally. That question of "Do you know someone that works in our company?" is common in forms - even in scholarship forms. The purpose is to safeguard their conflict of interest policy. Guess what? It is better for you not to know anyone than to know someone there. Knowing someone means there is the risk - no matter how remote - that someone can aid your recruitment process, which is contrary to their policy of merit. Although it is not a criterion for automatic disqualification as the risk is usually assessed based on company policy. This is a common question in forms anywhere in the world. I can see your naivety. |
sandijey: Madam I repeat a lot of first class material are not intelligent. A first class graduate of maths that I no who thought me in my 300 level could not speak English well. New nothing about current affairs. But He was great in maths. Many of them are like that. Brilliant but bad personality and no nothing outside their course. My course is a course that u must do presentation. Talk in class in front of everybody. One of my seniors in school was always fidgeting and she always failed presentations. How can she pass an interview wiv her 2'1. I am not making generalisation. This problem is very common. To me A first class graduate is more than paper qualifications. When u speak it must show. Such a person is an all rounder. I have been to many interviews o and I no exactly what I am saying. Its not about reading to pass. Which many people do. You should be able to defend what u came out wiv. The fact that u came out wiv a 1 st class has put u above a lot of people. It must show in everything. These interviewers can be crazy. Ask crazy questions unrelated to ur course. Ask real life questions that has nothing to do wiv what u write on paper in school. That is my point between brilliance and intelligence.smh for someone that could speak English |
Hiring cab (N4000) when N150 public bus will do. |
fembas316: Well, You ve got a nice response here! There is no doubting the fact that Engineering degree holder readily outdo their social science counterparts at that level. Nevertheless, comparing the mathematical and verbal prowess as earlier stated is relative. Some people are better ignored. |
