I don't think Investment banking is still that rewarding, especially at entry level. Maybe at middle to senior levels (VP upward).

No 6. Petroleum/Chemical/Electrical/Mechanical Engineers (Oil and Gas)
Whether working in the upstream or downstream Engineers in the Oil industry will continue to take home bigger pay packets. Highly skilled engineers in mechanical, electrical and petrochemical areas of engineering will be among the best paid jobs in Nigeria

Salary range: N3.5 – N6.3 million
Partially wrong.

Oil & Gas is too diverse. From upstream to downstream, indigenous to IOC, E&P to servicing, etc etc

Entry level:
Downstream: 3 - 4.5m
Upstream: 5-11m

And all these are just entry level. Moving with 2-5 years experience attracts more. A friend (an Accountant, also on NL) just moved to upstream after 3 years in downstream for 15m. And the upstream company is not even a supermajor IOC.

So sad.

Burst tyre is what I dread most.

Problem is we have little control over it. I know people will say Nigerians with their 'manage' mentality will continue to use old, expired tyres, what do we say of chacha vehicles that got accidented by burst tyre, like Kogi governor's Prado. Old tyre too?

Maybe reasonable speed can save the situation - hence my always not doing above 110 irrespective of the tempting smoothness of some highways.

Yes. It is almost unform for all departments, but those in marketing may have additional perks like function car (to aid their movement, supervising stations etc) and few other allowances, but it is hardly more than the upper limit of the quoted range.

I'm personally not a big fan of el-Rufai. Somehow unprincipled and inconsistent IMO.

Good record as public servant, but I'm not convinced about his style of politics.

Throw his recent religious own-goal into the mix. And he is also not popular, even in the north.

Not sure he is my ideal candidate.

I'm fine with a Fayemi VP.

Politics › 2015 - Our Best 11? by Jarus(op): 2:09pm On Feb 19, 2013
Somehow, I'm not very keen on 2015 as I was in 2011, where I worked with other Nairalanders to give PDP a fight (with the little resources within our means then - including sponsoring jingle in 5 radio stations in Rivers, Osun, Lagos and Oyo states): https://www.nairaland.com/611008/report-efforts-buhari-bakare-team-here

With the 2011 experience I was almost losing hope in Nigeria. So I'm not very keen at participating actively ahead of 2015 again, hence my passiveness in the threads discussing APC and 2015.

Well, do I believe PDP can be dislodged in 2015? Well, I never believed Nigeria could win Nations cup in 2013.

Here we go again with permutations

Realistic opposition candidates
Buhari
Fashola
Tinubu
Okorocha
Oshiomole
NB: Realistic doesn't mean my endorsement, just the list of those who have chance of emerging, from the list of names being speculated around

Outside chance
Ribadu - he hasn't been active in opposition/political front
Fola Adeola - not active in politics, but a great guy from the private sector

My ideal President/VP combination
One with ability to tackle corruption/indiscipline
One with record of performance(especially in capital projects)
One to bring intellectualism to the table

My preferences
1, Buhari-Fashola - Buhari to do the cleaning of the system, Fashola to bring intellectualism and development-enhancing performance to the table

If, Buhari is dropped based on age/political etc, then:

2, Fashola-Ribadu - Fashola for reason stated earlier, and Ribadu a mini-Buhari (anti-indiscipline czar)

3, Fashola - Sanusi - Same reason as no 2, but Sanusi is very unlikely to join elective politics

To be sensitive to religion/ethnicity (although I think this should the least we should be looking at now)

4, Fashola - Okorocha: (but active fight against corruption is postponed till another time)
5, Fashola - Oshiomole: (Ditto)

Realistic combination (not necessarily the best, or my preference, but strongest to fight PDP)

Buhari - Tinubu: This will give PDP a fight for their life. Buhari to come with at least 10m from the North; Tinubu being on ticket would bring the best of him, campaign and war-chest wise, compared to when he is just campaigning for someone else. South-west guaranteed.

Buhari-Fashola: Buhari votes remain constant; Fashola has more goodwill than Tinubu, but less strong, political-wise. Trade-off. Tinubu may not work actively as he would if he were to be on the ticket himself, but should still be able to deliver SW for BRF

Other combinations

Fashola - Okorocha: This should be able to give good performance too, even though fighting corruption may be postponed till another date. But there is a risk of apathy from a sizeable number of Buhari's constant 10m, no matter how actively Buhari himself campaign for thsi ticket.

Fashola - Oshiomole: Same as above

Ribadu being on the ticket would have satisfied the anti-corruption ticket, but frankly, it's not looking likely that Ribadu can be given chance on the ticket. Too aloof in the current proceedings.

Soludo is another great guy that could be brought into the mix, but it doesn't seem he can have a spot.

Other guys that should be given space in the government (not necessarily president or VP)

Fola Adeola
Godswill Akpabio (yes, he is PDP)

Sone aluko. Another good player will add depth to bench

I was interviewing with one company 2 years ago and I used 'guys' for executive management of my then current company. I said something like: " No doubt, the guys (the executive management of my company) are trying, doing a good job, but ....."

One of the interviewers asked 'who are the guys?' and I told her I was referring to the executive management of my then current company. She told me you don't use guys for your employers. I knew for sure, but was so used to guys.

Similarly, when I was having final chat with that company in 2008 and I met the then COO. Where I meant to say 'yes', I said 'yeah'. She corrected me that I should not use yeah for her again. Needless to say it didn't reach 2 minutes before I answered yeah again cheesy. She knew my case was irredeemable, and didn't bother to correct me again. cheesy I thought she would annoyingly gave me bad rating, but she still passed me sha and I got the job cheesy

Privatization success stories:

Oando - formerly owned by government as unipetrol. Privatized 2002. Now a formidable African brand.

Conoil - from National oil. Now a better managed private concern.

Except those sold to Jimoh Ibrahim (notorious for buying a dying business and speeding the death), most other privatized government businesses have been successful.

And of course, in any privatization exercise the world over, new millionaires would be made.

I spent 4 years in Oando before moving on. Without privatization, I may never have had the opprotunity to work in that company. When run by government, merit was a taboo. Just another government-owned business to place children, relatives and tribesmen of those in authority.

At hanky-panky stage, my partner (now wife) loved me more. I was always in and out of that relationship. She cared more for me than I did for her, probably because I had a couple fo other options then. In fact, it was one of the main reasons I settled for her (she too liked me). But now, I would say it's at par. I love her to bits and she still does too.

Seun,

I have always told you that you have reached a stage where you have to be assertive. You may not know it, but you are not an average Nigerian. As owner of Nigeria's biggest forum, you are a top tech brand in Nigeria.

What has this thread breached? Yes, people may insinuate that they are yahhoboys (I'm also inclined to believing the money for most of them may not clean), but inasmuch as nothing in the quoted report says it is fraud, it's not your business, you have not done wrong putting on home page.

Different strokes for different folks, if someone doesn't like the report, he or she can ignore. There is no moral or logical argument against this thread being on homepage. If anything, it has a business case - more traffic for your site. I can't imagine a Omoyele Sowore or a Linda Ikeji pulling off a post on their blog for petty and unproved reason like this.

Bros, stop falling for intimidation of people. Not saying yopu shouldn't seek opinion, but not in this kind of simple matter.

Some of us like politics, economics, religion etc but we respect those that come here for entertainment (Tonto Dikeh threads and all that), you owe them a duty to serve them too. Stop allowing yourself to be goaded rail-roaded into doing some things. Nothing absolutely wrong in this thread being on front page. It is good business for you.

Even in a regular newspaper, there are entertainment pages that deal with things like these as there are politics and news section, will you stop buying Thisday on Sunday because it has stories like top 10 most expensive governors? No, if you don't like it, you move to Simon Kolawole's column or Nimi Akinkugbe's Finance column.

reportnaija: School of first choice, as it is fondly called by many, UNILAG is one top spot for rich, hot dudes and babes. They are the ones who rule the social scene in the University of Lagos. Ask around, and you will hear their names. We serve you the dons and doyennes of the UNILAG social scene.

Young Money: This is one rich dude who stands out from the pack. A student of the Mathematics department, Young Money, as he is usually called is always a toast to many. Young money and his friends have made Unilag their bedroom, as they control everything they come in contact with.

B-Naira: This list wouldn’t be complete without the name of the richest students in the University of Lagos, BNaira. He is a geography student, a club aficionado and a lover of all beautiful things, living or non-living. Rumors have it that his excessive spending does not have a proper origin, but this has not in any way deterred the young man or even his flocks of female admirers. He rides a Range Rover painted bright red.

Babs Moola: Babs Moola is the boss of one of the biggest clubs in UNILAG. He runs Hitchers Entertainment, an upscale entertainment outfit in school. He is the boss of bosses, a cool dude, with swag and influence. He rolls with the biggest dudes and babes on campus.

Laolu: This is another big boy on campus. He is the club chief, ON Entertainment. This is the crew responsible for some of the biggest and craziest parties in school.

Henry Chylln: Henry is a top dude in school. No club party is complete without the presence of this young dude. He was nominated in the last Behind Awards for the award of Top Club Boy.

Jide Purple Haze: Another top brass in the University of Lagos. This is one dude who runs the big things in big ways. His ride is one of the most envied on campus.

Deji Dejovo
: Popularly known as Mr. Flash, is a big boy in his own right. Girls flock around him like butterflies around honey. He dresses well, rides one of the flyest cars on campus, and is regarded as one of the hottest dudes in school.

Prime Minister: Prime Minister, as he is popularly called is indeed a big boy in the University of Lagos. He is one of those influential few on campus who dictate style and taste.

Tobi Bakare: A student of the department of Accounting, Tobi Bakare is a don by himself. He is very popular, and well loved by all.

Adeori McFape: Another student who has, overtime, grown to become one of the big wigs on campus. He reps the department of Quantity Surveying. He is the boss of one of the biggest clubs in the school. He runs Fuse Entertainment.

Monalisa Omorodion: This is one strong name in the Unilag social community. She is a student of the department of Economics, a nominee for the award of the most popular female in a Nigerian university. She has a powerful clique of friends that rule the school.

Nneoma Okpara: She is one of the richest and biggest students in the Law Faculty. She stands out as a doyenne and style dictator in the University of Lagos.

Olivia Messango: It’s not enough to list names without mentioning the very pretty and socially respected Olivia Messango of the department of Economics. She is a worthy inclusion on this list.

Obioma Isiwu: Very pretty and sociable, she was a contestant in the last MBGN, and came out of it with the title of Miss Tourism. She is one of the biggest babes on campus.

Susan Efeji
: Very few would know her, as she stays outside the school environment most of the time. She is a very busty lady with every sexy endowment that can make a warm blooded man empty his pockets in a hurry. She drives an exotic Range Rover, which was bought for her by one of her sugar daddies. Her clients are not young boys, but are the top men who walk the corridors of power.

Omoti Neni: A student of the Law faculty, she is a high-flyer in school. A trend setter and a fashionista. Her status as a big babe on campus is not to be argued.

Ify freckles Obi: This babe from the department of English is one to reckon with. She is like the freshest babe on campus. She is a style diva, and as such a goddess for so many on campus. She was nominated for the award of the most beautiful Nigerian female student in the 2012 Behind Awards.

(List Compiled By- Wireless_radio)

Not a journalist or entertainment blogger, but as a friend of the media, I would say this is not well researched. The descriptions are too generic. Except for one or two, no mention was made of the type of car they use. A good report on 'list of richest students' should be more specific. What car do they drive? How many cars do they have? Idea about their net worth (yes, you can research that and come up with something not far off)? Age? etc.

Just a critique.
Education › Re: List Of Richest Students In University Of Lagos by Jarus(m): 3:38pm On Feb 15, 2013
In Ife, nobody actually cares how rich you are. The most popular students on campus are the ones with the highest CGPA's. You hear of students that set or broke some records far back 1970's.

In my first week alone, I had heard about the GPA's of Ahmed Shittu, Simon, Deji Akere, Lateef, one Dr. Koya that finished far back 1970's, Gbolade, etc.

That said, from a business or even professional sense, I wont say there is anything wrong in compiling list of richest students on campus. If you are a blogger or campus gossip journalist, then you are only being creative.
