Career › Re: How Much Is Entry Level Pay At Oando by Jarus(m): 12:41pm On Apr 30, 2012
If you have prior experience, pay may be btw 4-4.5m. If no experience 3.3-4m. But like any other negotiation, try to ask for something higher, maybe 5-6m so that when the chips are down ir comes to their normal range.

What to expect? Knowledge of Oando, retail business, Excel and presentation, dealing with data, etc. Like any other interview, your confidence and composure can make a huge difference.

I finished from a private pry schl but a public secondary school. In our secondary school days, esp jjunior classes, one way to keep the class quiet was to write names of vernacular speakers. Na me dey write names of vernacular speakers and collect the fines. May God forgive, I reported only half of the fines, the others ended in Iya Abu's amola shop.
Food › Re: What Is Your Favorite Relaxation Drink And Recipe? by Jarus(m): 9:53am On Apr 28, 2012
The last time I had an organised, consistent form of relaxation being discussed here was when I was serving in Sokoto state.

In the evening, after our Isha'(8pm) prayer, entered Daddy Smart(a spot in front of our corpers lodge where Sokoto bankers etc go to relax in the evening), got seats, ordered for suya, chilled malt, soft drinks, zobo, kunu, fura, etc and gists from football to politics to teasing one another, while watching/playing Table tennis, till 10-11 pm.

I hardly have time for these in Lagos, except sometimes when an old friend come calling and we go out, usually to The Palms, take some ice cream, soft drinks, juices, pop corn while reliving childhood/school/service memories.
Education › Re: OAU Statistics Of Choice Of Courses For 2012 by Jarus(m): 6:29am On Apr 28, 2012
Despite her challenges, OAU still remains highly sought after, if not the most sought after varsity in Nigeria.

Unfortunately, out of the 4281 that applied for Economics, maybe only the 281 on top will be given admission. In my set(2001), less than 300 got admissin, and less than 200 graduated 4 years later(5 years actually).

Education › Re: Public Schools Back In Those Days (Your Experiences) by Jarus(m): 8:25pm On Apr 27, 2012
In my last term in public primary school(3rd term primary 2 - 1989), I came 16th in class and changed it to 6th(cleaned the 1 in front of it). I was later caught but not until after eating big meat. I was later moved to private nursery and primary school and took primary 2 again. I came 34th out of 44 in my first term in private school, but to God be the glory, I ended with 1st position in primary 6 3rd term.
Education › Re: Public Schools Back In Those Days (Your Experiences) by Jarus(m): 8:18pm On Apr 27, 2012
In core public primary schools, you go to school and spend half of the day doing these for your teachers, especially female teachers:

Won ewedu
Se egusi

Someone sshould help translate those into English.

Honestly, I respect people that attended public primary schools(in our gweneration) and go ahead to compete favourably later in life.

Sports › Re: Ghana Or Nigeria? Who Is Generally Better In Football by Jarus(m): 3:20pm On Apr 27, 2012
I believe Essien is (abi na was) the better player of the duo. Essien was unfortunate to have Eto'o and Drogba at their peaks too when he was also in his peak. Yaya Toure, Adebayor and Kanoute are other AFotY winners that are just above average, just happened to shine when there was no world class challenger.

WTH. This is serious.

Haba, people should be considerate. I have seen marriage of 11 years with no kid yet and they are still together. I pray that will not be our portion, but c'mon, husband should show some perseverance. Who told him the new wife he will bring in will conceive.

I am 16 months into marriage like you and my wife had 2 miscarriages last year. She was highly apprehensive, disturbed and fearful of any eventuality, especially pressure from my family(and I have a family that give honest interference in members affairs). But I kept assuring her that no problem, that she should not worry, that I will stand by her, that almost 80% of women experience miscarriage and there is no cause for alarm etc. To Allah be the story, we will be welcoming our first baby in few months time.

So, I believe your husband is rather impatient and it's very serious.

Losers' song

Ati leri p'ama na won lo
Lobayi wo o,
Atileri p'ama nawon lo
Lo ba yi wo

We had boasted to beat them
But it went other way

Winners' song:
A fa ri won (we shaved their head)
A fi kinikan si(we put something there - can't remember the thing again)
Won ba ni ko to(and they said it's not enough)
A tun f'epo ra (and we added palm oil to their shaved head)

Sometimes these mockery songs lead to fights, especially in inter-area and inter-school matches.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: How Long Does It Take Companies To Call For Interview? by Jarus(m): 5:01pm On Apr 26, 2012
I just moved to a new company within the industry. Tomorrow is my last day here and I will be resuming in my new company next week by God's grace.

The whole thing took up to 6 months

October 2011 - Sent in my application. I have never been a fan of newspaper job adverts. I don't like job opening where the whole of Nigeria will be invited. I believe in just getting across my CV to right places in HR and get called for interview. I don't even read Guardian. But interestingly, I was just reading Guardian(primarily for political stories) that morning when I saw teh advert. Since it doesn't cost me anything, I just sent in my CV and the one-page turenchi on why I believe I should be given this job.

November 2011 I got a call from KPMG(KPMG handled it for the firm - an oil company) that show up in our office tomorrow blabla for interview. Then a follow-up email sent.

I did the interview and for more than 4 months, I didn't get any response. I gave them a call around January and I was told they were still expecting feedback from their client.

March 2012 Got a call from KPMG again that I had been invited for secodn interview with their client and email followed. Now they revealed the company. Did the interview.

April 2012: Sealed the deal. Medical, offer etc.

May 2012 : To resume, insha Allah.

That's about 6 months. The opposite happened in my current job. The whole thing took less than 1 week.

When you play ball enter Baba Gebu or Iya Elepe's compound, the woman/man will seize the ball and all of you will spend hours begging before the ball is released. grin

Pasheje(A lazy striker who doesnt struggle to collect ball but alway stay in d opponent b18 to score)
grin

I'm an expert in this. From secondary school through university till now, I have scored wonder goals with this. I have destroyed sets with far better players using this. I don't have the strenght and skills to win ball from midfield, but feed me with a through pass inside box 18, before you say Ja, it's inside the net. I play 7 or 9, lurking around the box, expertly positioned to convert through passes. Knowing how to do that is an art itself. grin
