Buhari is more popular in NW and NE. NC is 50-50% infact GEJ has an edge here. But in the entire south , with or without ACN , GEJ is far ahead of buhari.
That may be true for candidate Buhari, but if AC/CPC come together and AC work for Buhari in the SW, this, to me, will be the permutation:

        ACN/CPC(Buhari)     PDP(GEJ)         Others                  Note
NW           80                      10              10       10 in others likely to come ANPP thru Yerima & Shekarau factors in Kano&Zamfara
NE            65                      30                5        Votes for parties other than these two will be very neglgible here, but Modu Sheriff factor may help ANPP garner few
NC            40                      60                -         Plateau, Benue, are easily PDP's, but AC is expected to put strong showing in Kwara, plus anti-GEJ votes in Niger
SW           60                      35                5        If Tinubu, Aregbesola and co put their weight behind ACN/CPC, they can swing almost SW AC states to ACN/CPC
SE              5                      80               15     The 15% here may come from APGA. If APGA doesn't filed presidential candidate, whoever they support can claim that 15
SS              5                      90                5        This is GEJ's strongest zone, but if Oshiomole works for his party, AC/CPC may curry Edo

@ Johndoe, help me tell dem.
@ all, conduct a personal poll (of about 20 people) on their prefered presidential candidate btw GEJ and Buhari and bring the result back to this thread so we can know and pls tell us the area you conducted it
If you conduct it in any state in NW, I'm sure you will have 19-1 at least in favour of Buhari. Talk of teh area you know only. You obviously dont know the raging sentiment in the core North.

Tunde Bakare would have been his best bet, but the Yoruba factor may become an issue. Okonjo Iweala will be a good choice.

Ribadu is a lawyer, oga. He read law in ABU. In fact it was during the Oputa panel when he came to defend the police that people first knew him.
But I doubt he's experienced enough to be AGF.

The argument, whose link I posted up there, was what I put up when a similar issue was raised on the pages of newspapers sometime ago. That's still my opinion.

I agree some First Class students struggle to live up to expectation, but just very few, and that's should be treated as an exception, not the rule. It doesn't mean all First Class graduates should be written off on sight.

I honestly doubt you can bribe your way to First Class. Most people that bribe do so just to graduate or sneak into 2.1 or 2.2. I may be wrong.

And about the number of people that graduated with First Class, as somebody analyzed up there, it's less than 2%, so it's no big deal. In advanced schools in the America and Europe, more people graduate with First Class. So why the fuss about Unilag's?

All observations read.
1, The wikileakin thread smacks of mischief. Calling somebody a gay etc is obviously a joke taken too far. It is therefore fit for the bin
2, The 'I spoke with a Ibo' thread was opened yesterday evening and I saw it late. I can't be around 24/7. But at least, it did not spend 24 hours. Thanks for calling my attention to it. The essence of this thread is to call Mods' attention to areas that require attention.
3, I didn't find the 'Ban Aljharem' thread worthy of deleting. There is nothing wrong in recommending another member for punishment, especially if that member's activities are obviously against forum rules. It's just like any other thread about Nairaland and it's personailities which is what the Nairaland section is for; hence the movement to that section. It is for the Mod to heed the call or discard it if he/she doesn't find it valid.

The summary is that demagoguery drives politics in core Hausa/Fulani states, and that factor cannot be overlooked.
Politics › Re: Presidential Debate - Battle Of The Campaigners by Jarus(op): 8:08pm On Jan 19, 2011
I'm not sure you're right about my knowledge of northern politics. I've been a follower and observer of Nigerian politics since I became literate enough to read paper/listen to news.
The politics of the north always throws up two classes of people: 1, the elite, the politicians, who are ready to sacrifice or compromise anything for power 2, the masses, very political conscious and quite gullible especially if ethnicity and religion are involved. The governors and delegates are part of the former class. If you want to win election in Kano or Sokoto for instance, just establish establish an Islamic centre that feeds people during Ramadan, build a big mosque, sponsor people to Hajj, and show some aversion to westernization, and after doing that for 2 years, come out for election. The latter class know the xtics of the former class and that's why they play religious and ethnic card to gain their sympathy. But in the case of GEJ they(northern elite) were turn between the devil and deep blue sea. The devil being what to tell our people at home if we support GEJ who doesn't have the support of the latter class, the masses; the deep blue sea being they need presidential support to further their own political ambitions. They struck a bargain with presidency: vote for me, I'll guarantee your re-election/political ambition. To assure this, the presidency influenced a state-by-state ballot system to know which of them will renege. It worked, but it backfired at the same time. The masses, who obviously don't want GEJ, saw it televised and how their leaders voted against their wish. The next day they went to the street, burning PDP flags, accusing their leaders of being sell-outs, threatening to flush them out. Now the dilemma is: who will win? The Jonathan forces or the masses?

That is the politics of the north for you.

NB: This applies only to NE and NW.

He doesn't need to reply. That's Wale's opinion/wish. Buhari's team has a lot of more important things to attend to than replying every article about his candidature.

Politics › Re: Presidential Debate - Battle Of The Campaigners by Jarus(op): 4:57pm On Jan 19, 2011
You might conclude that the ‘end result’ of the process might be a candidate Nigerians aren’t really interested in, but the process by which he emerged is better than anything the PDP has ever experienced in its history.
Much as I agree the primary was better than the past ones, there are still a few questions:

1, Why were the ballot boxes arranged state-by-state? To now which state voted for who, and be able to punish anti-GEJ states
2, Why were the delegates 'quarantined' on the eve of the election, denying them access/temptation by Atiku?
3, GEJ's team has not denied the dollar-bribery allegation on the eve of the election, so daring that it affected exchange rate that day?

I'm not an Atiku fan, in fact, if I was a delegate I'll vote for GEJ ahead of him, but the playing ground was far from being level. We even read that the removal of Nwodo was because he was sympathetic to Atiku.

A very important and trending thread on the ongoing Voter's Registration Exercise.

It's related (but slightly different) from the Beyond Rhetoric, Have You Registered? thread.

Perhaps, you may want to sticky it or you may not. . .it's your call cool
To avoid stickying too many threads, I just incorporated it into the 'Beyond Rhetoris' thread.
Thanks

I don't think this should generate an issue. GEJ is still the president and INEC boss himself being the officer to attend to him should not be a big deal.
Politics › Re: Buharism: Economic Theory And Political Economy - By Sls by Jarus(op): 1:33pm On Jan 17, 2011
On the above article, I put it forward because it was the only article that discusses Buhari's political and economic ideology, other write-ups on him only talk about his personality, he is religious bigot, he is ethnic jingoist etc, but this article by Sanusi in 2002 discusses his ideology. What is GEJ's, and by extension PDP's, ideology?
Politics › Re: Buharism: Economic Theory And Political Economy - By Sls by Jarus(op): 1:30pm On Jan 17, 2011
I have also read that Mahmud's article up there this morning, and it corroborates what I have been saying that these delegates are on thier own.
Not only does GEJ stand not winning general elections in these northern states he won at primaries, but their state governors that directed their delegates to vote for him, risk not getting re-elected. Not even VP Sambo can move near Kaduna at the moment. Those northern populace are battle ready for PDP, and their delegates. One doesn't need a crystal ball to tell that in addition to Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, and Kano, GEJ doesn't stand chance in other core northern states(both SE &SW) in general elections.
