semid4lyfe:Moved. Thanks. Your old ID has been reinstated by the Big Boss too. |
NL has never failed to provide me that daily tonic of laughter ![]() |
This thread becomes relevant again. |
@ Uplawal, If a statement is credited to the Prophet through authentic hadith, it is not for us to doubt it. The hadith was specific on teh action point: the subsequent part of teh earth will clean it. Whether physically clean or not, since another part of teh earth has wiped it, it has become pure, because teh prophet said so. So it doesn't contradict Qur'an. It has become pure again, teh purity teh Qur'an is also talking about. |
Thanks, but let's avoid duplication: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-586413.0.html |

The voting pattern that saw GEJ win many northern states may not reflect what will happen at the general elections after all. These delegates appear to be on their own. In fact I'm just reading now how their people protested against their delegates votes at the primary: http://sunday.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5798:backlash-of-pdp-presidential-primary-protests-in-katsina-jigawa-adamawa&catid=54:lead-stories&Itemid=127 http://sunday.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5798:backlash-of-pdp-presidential-primary-protests-in-katsina-jigawa-adamawa&catid=54:lead-stories&Itemid=127 |
A cartoon has never made me laugh so hard on NL since that 'Mapomeji' cartoon on Becomrich ![]() |
Guys, pls let's return to issues. Beaf and Gbawe, let's focus on our candidates. |
Kobojunkie is indisputably a female. It's been discussed more than 2 years ago. |
fstranger1:At the risk of sounding immodest, I make bold to tell you that you can only dream of where my English writing skills have taken me to. That, obviously, was a slip. I meant to write: . . .doesn't necessarily follow age. |
One of the lessons I learnt from NL is that maturity, and perhaps intelligence, doesn't necessarily follow maturity. I can name particular cases. I never knew Bawomolo was as young as 21, never knew Jakumo was as young as I came to know few days ago. I would have also completely guessed wrong the oyb's age had I not known him. From Kobojunkie's easy recollection of Buhari's regime, I can guess right her age. But the presumption I personally used to have is that Nairalanders are between 22-32. |
Safari, I have given you the lead role for Team Buhari, since GenBuhari hasn't showed up since yesterday. Regards, Debate Moderator. |
Assalaamu alaikum waramotulahi wabarakatuhu, Like any other activity, indeed like our stay on earth itself, everything is transitory. All of us will not be here forever. At some point we will move on. But what legacy do we want to leave behind when we leave here? I have decided to open this thread as reference to people that will come here in the future about certain personalities that deserve to have their names etched in Gold in this section. I am the Mod here today, I may not be tomorrow, in fact the reality is I, nay everybody, will not be here forever. But I deem it fit to start this record of people that were very outstanding and exceptional while being here(every single person is indeed useful) so that teh next generation of Nairalanders can know about them. The case of Olabowale particularly struck me. New Muslim Nairalanders may not know him, and when we oldies totally leave the scene, he becomes forgotten. His contribution to Islam via this forum is too golden to be forgotten jsut liek that. Generations must know about him, and others. It is in this spirit that I am starting this project, which I pray outlives me. I hope this thread will remain forever stickied, and whoever takes over as Mod from me will continue and it goes on and on. The criteria is very strict, so we ask for the forgiveness of people that, despite their very visible contribution, may still not make it. Note, also, that members will be inducted at their 'ageing' days here, i.e time when they gloriously leave or show signs of leaving or become not so frequent and active. So, still very active members may not be inducted at their 'heydays'(i.e very active days). INDUCTEES - NAIRALAND MUSLIM SECTION HALL OF FAME 1, OLABOWALE: Alhaji Olabowale will forever be remembered for his very active contribution to Islam through Nairaland. His maturity, debating skills and admirable mien were as awesome as his mastery of Islamic history. He was here between June 04, 2006 to March 05, 2010. He cited personal reasons for quitting. He will forever be remembered in the annals of history of NL Muslim Ummah. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?action=profile;u=28427 2, BELLOTTI: Belloti was active here between 2006 and 2008, but he still buzzes in once in a while. He was a pillar of Islam while here and provided support for Olabowale and co. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?action=profile;u=15457 3, BABS787 Not a few Muslim oldies on NL will agree that Babs is the second most valuable Islamic scholar on NL after Olabowale. Although still around, Babs has not been so active as he was between 2006 and 2008. Born a Christian and later converted to Islam, Babs has never gotten tired of rationally defending Islam on this site. He has stamped a place in the history of Islam on Nairaland. Generations to come must hear about him: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?action=profile;u=37362 4,??It can be you, just keep up your passion and good work here Although winning this section's poster of the year doesn't automatically qualify one for this Hall of Fame, it is important to recognize winners of Annual Islamic Section's Posters of the Year in this thread too. They are active now and we pray they don't quit or become inactive soon, but they are surely heading towards making this golden list anytime soon. 2009: Muhsin 2010: Lagosboy 2011: ?? |
Let's maintain the civility please. No insults, no name-calling. Just a reminder. Thanks for your cooperation. |
Like has been mentioned up there, the same scenario played out in the Sanusi case. Sanusi was an Islamic scholar, holds a degree in Islamic studies, from Sudan for that matter, prays five times daily, contributes to Islamic debates, wrote extensively on Sharia. Now, did that affect his efficiency as CBN boss, as boss of a secular institution? Was it only the Muslims that benefitted from his reforms? Are Muslims the depositors and shareholders of Oceanic and co whose savings were about to go down the drain before Sanusi's intervention? Are Muslims teh only one that will benefit from the Sanusi's whistle blowing-trigerred cut in NASS budget in 2011 budget? Did Buhari Islamize Nigeria when he was Military president and had almost absolute power(decree) on what happened? Not to talk of now that his major decisions will be subject to scrutiny by other arms and in fact the generality of Nigerians. Buhari antagonists should tell us another story, please. |
Kobojunkie:Thanks. We'll see what we can do along that line. |
johndoe200:YOu definitely know next to nothing on the what is currently going on in the North or even the voting history of the core North. |
Not to forget the fact that ANPP's 6 states were gotten on the Buhari sentiment, and these people know only Buhari, no matter the party. Except Modu Sheriff's Borno, I don't see ANPP winning any other state. CPC will take over ANPP's former stronghold, plus, most likely, a number of PDP states like Katsina, Zamfara and Kebbi(except Katsina, their governors came to power thru ANPP before defecting to PDP anyway). I watched Buhari's visit to Nasarawa state on TV and I was amazed at the crowd and their zeal. And this is somebody not known for flamboyant campaign not to talk of renting crowd. |
safari SA:From what friends in the North up there have been telling me and from what I read in papers, CPC will clinch at least 4 states in Guber elections(Kano, Katsina, Kebbi and even Kaduna). The Buhari Hurricane blowing across core North appears unstoppable. People need to go and see for themselves. |
Dear Nairaland members and guest viewers, As part of Nairaland's commitment to the enthronement of civil ideals in this country we are officially advising all Nigerians, members and non-members of this forum, to go and register, as registration exercise kicks off today. We often talk, shout, lament, curse, but we always ignore basic contribution to the attainment of a better society. Spare us the talk, go out and register and vote when it's time to elect our leaders. We expect votes to count this time around, but even if it will not, just do your part. Don't forget to remind your friends, family and other acquaintances to also go out and exercise their civic duty. I will be leading the campaign by going out to register tomorrow by God's grace. You too are expected to create time and vote and come here to tell us after you have done so. You may also enter here to narrate your experiences at the registration centres https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-586519.0.html#top Yes, Nairalanders can do it!!! Jarus, For Nairaland Authority. |
MODERATOR'S NOTE Thanks for keeping the argument this far. No name calling, no insults, whether to other Supporters or the Candidates. I advise Gbawe to tone down on his use of hard words for GEJ's supporters, as he appears drifting. Let the debate keeps flowing. |
Was she not the 2009 winner too? |
Personally speaking, I'm for this. |
Thanks, Jason. Or are you ready to take the lead role for Buhari in this grand debate? |
Forget the legislative rascality and political gambadoism, I tender my unreserved apologia for coming late to this thread. |
^^^ Done. |
Anubis:Thanks. I forgot. We will update accordingly as soon as they have their candidate. |
Good one, Gbawe. We have sent PMs to Beaf and Gen Buhari to come and make their cases too. Other volunteers are also free to add their opinions. Meanwhile, if anybody picks any fault in Gbawe's case above, let's have your arguments. |
Ok. I'm giving Gen Buhari the lead role for Buhari. Thanks. |
