Well, what I know is South, West, East and North. Officially, we have 19 northern states, of which Kaduna, Kwara etc are officially recognized.

Anybody that is from Kaduna and says he is not a northerner, I'm sorry to say, is an illiterate. Probably, they are mixing up 'northerner' with 'Hausa/Fulani' or even 'Muslim'. One is simply a northerner if one comes from any state officially recognized as Northerner, irrespective of whether he is a Hausa/Fulani, or Yoruba(Kwara/Kogi) or Nupe(Niger/Kwara) or Kanuri(Borno) etc. All are northerners, but different tribes.

Remember, Sunday Awoniyi, a Yoruba Christian from Kogi, was once ACF Chairman. Arewa means North.

semid4lyfe:
@Jarus

I don check the electoral act and there are no provisions for "unclear results". . .as in 2 or all the aspirants getting exactly the same number of votes

Wetin we go do if there is a tie at the end of the day? huh undecided Shey we go do run-off abi wetin or will the winner be decided by some other criteria?

I wouldn't want the final results of this election to be shrouded in controversy and be subject to endless litigation like Bush Vs Gore o wink

Awaiting your response. . . .
According to NL electoral act:
1, When there is tie after poll, the poll shall be extended by 48 hours.
2, Where after extension, it's still a tie, the Mod uses his experience and knowledge of the two or more nominees to pick the final winner.

Politics › Nairaland's Politics Section's Hall Of Shame - 2010 Inductee(The Cabal) by Jarus(op): 10:19am On Dec 17, 2010
BRIEF PROFILE OF NOMINEES  - HALL OF SHAME (2010)
1, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan: Nigeria's current president is equally loved and loathed among Nigerians, at least online. If there was any doubt about that, then his name appearing in both categories should put it to rest. GEJ's management of October 1 bombing, penchant for making confusing remarks, series of events in PDP many people see GEJ as behind are the low points of the man.

2, Ibrahim Babangida: For daring to return to power after what he unleashed on Nigeria in his eight years rule, not a few Nigerians despise this man. His attempt was described as an insult. He continued unabashed. For a leader not known to be tribalistic in his military days( his allies cut across all tribes), stooping so low as associating with regional champions and his zoning clamour further soiled his image this year. No single presidential aspirant has ever received the kind of resentment IBB received is his misadventure.

3, The Cabal: While the politics of Yar'adua's sickness lasted, these men held the whole country hostage. The whole presidential apparatus was grounded. Seeing the president became only their exclusive preserve. They held on to state information. The cabinet got divided. Intrigues regned. They did their worse to ensure power did not shift hand. Welcome Turai Yar'adua, Yakubu Taminu, Abba Ruma, Kaase Aoandoaka and other members of the mafia.

BACKGROUND:
Nairaland, as you all know, has become a force to reckon with in political discussions among Nigerians and non-Nigerians in the cyberspace. It's place in Nigeria's political punditry has been sealed, and high profile politicians and their PR men have recognized the weight of this site in opinion formation, analysis and test of acceptability. For a forum that influential, it is not out of place to have formal declarations on the performing and non-performing public office holders. This is why we are taking up the challenge of assessing our public figures and coming out with the one with the best and worst records in each year, and placing each of them in their place in history.

MODUS OPERANDI
We called for nomination from members of this forum in each category and two weeks, we compiled the list on nominees. The top three nominees will be up for poll, so that people whose nominees did not make the top 3 can pick from teh three finalists. At the end of the poll, which will last for two weeks, we will have the OFFICIAL INDUCTEES into both categories.

BRIEF PROFILE OF NOMINEES - HALL OF FAME(2010)
1, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi: Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He won his way into people's hearts for his 'say it as it is' attitude. Although he is always in the news, his highlight in 2010 is criticizing the Nigerian legislators jumbo pay, advocating that less shoudl be spent on recurrent expenditure, and more on capex, if this country must progress. The comment drew the ire of NASS members, and the lanky CBN boss came out a hero, to the applause of Nigerians. In a country where the National Assembly has been turned into a lion's den, not a few people commended the apex bank boss' courage.

2, Babatunde Raji Fashola: In Nigeria's recent history, no Nigerian governor has come close to receiving the quantum of accolades this man receives on daily basis. Described as a great administrator, Fashola has changed the face of Lagos within a very short time. He has embarked on numerous capital projects within the state. He has become a reference point in good governance in Nigeria today, and many people are tipping him for Vice-Presidency.

3, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan: Described as a breath of fresh air, Goodluck Jonathan's ascension to presidency is a clear case of divine providence. His highlight in 2010 is the removal removal of the much derided Maurice Iwu as INEC chair and putting radical university teacher, Attahiru Jega, as replacement, a decision one cannot fault. His power sector reform has also been salutary. Many Nigerians also see him as a humble leader, and a departure from old, recycled politicians.

4, Rauf Aregbesola: If there is one lesson that can be learnt from this Ilesa-born, Engineer-turned-politician's reclaim of his mandate in Osun state, it is a lesson in relentlessness. Many people have written off that case. Many people have given up, but the man rode on. Now he is the governor of Osun state. He has been able to displace usurpers of powers, after a protracted court battle.

Kaduna is not only North, it's the political headquarters of The North since Ahmadu Bello days.
Yet same Kaduna is middle belt.

Middle Best is not in compass. Middle belt is a political creation. All middle-belt states, including Kwara and Kogi, are northern states.

My suspicion is that Suraj and Kobo are ding donging each other or may be Kobo already gave Suraj some badly needed green notes.

Anyway, it goes a long way to prove that the problem with Nigeria is Nigerians; one way or the other, we are all corrupt, as clearly shown by Jarus.

It reminds me of Jamb, when after scoring 265, I was denied admission, only for them to accept someone with 220, with deeper pocket than moi.

Ha,May God save us. I doubt it though. The country is beyond redemption, as clearly and brazenly shown by our own Surajudeen!
This got me ROTFLMAO in office  grin grin I am even responsible for your admission denial grin You even put all versions of my names here, all because of Beaf  grin grin grin

On a serious note, my apologies for checking his name at the banning office late. I didn't know until I was informed that he was their guest twice this year.  grin
My unreserved apologies to Beaf's numerous fans and supporters.

BetaThings:
Azu who was ED of Punch was the one that was sent out of Punch. He now writes a column in ThisDay. The person who wrote this is Simeon Kolawole who took over as editor of ThisDay from Segun Adeniyi (when the latter left ThisDay to become the spokesman to Yaradua). Kolawole is one of the hardest hitting of them. I am not saying he is a saint and will not turn if he gets a government appointment, but he is more likely to tell the truth in his writings than the others. When Segun Adeniyi was there, he was always hedging his position by smartly proposing hypotheses of both sides to an issue
from my mind
