I'm confused o. This Mr Barzini behaves like BCR, but I strongly doubt BCR can write well like this. Could it have been that that Batu English is deliberate? Or Mr Barzini is not BCR?
The jury is out
Politics › Re: Eze Uche You're Not A Niger Deltan by Jarus(m): 10:48am On Nov 07, 2010
This thread gets me confused about the personality of BCR. First, correct title. Other than the coma he did not put after 'Ezeuche', the sentence is very correct. No spelling-quake. I thought it was a fluke, but when I read his statement in the thread, no batu again. 2 sentences from BCR without bomb? Could it be that BCR deliberately does these signature 'batu' English, and he can write correctly if he wants to?
If that's true, then his kolo too may be artificial?

It's called loyalty to your alma mater/school and strong esprit de corps, which is natural only to Ife people. Natural domination tendency. Go to NYSC camp, workplaces, weddings etc to see more.

Sigh of relief!!!
BTW ths thread isnt about school alumni.
But we are discussing our colleague's super academic success, and subsequent post-school success, albeit jovially, which, seriously, is actually related to the topic, as the students on this thread can learn a lot from the discussions.

Waoh! I will like to meet this guy that Jarus and the great Dayokanu are talking about o. See as you just turned this to an OAU thread with authentic aroism. Reminds me of those days back in Angola and Awo. I stayed one year in Angola , 2 years in Awo, and two years in PG.

I am sure Dayokanu and myself must have some mutual friends seeing that you are an Aggie( I was in College Station for a while before transferring to Houston due to research funding issues)

At Jarus, I have no doubt that folks like you will even be greater than some of us. As long as you don't settle! What about you even get your next degree from Harvard or Stanford to begin with? And you need to get involved in leadership activities beyond writing and work.

Lets link up on LinkedIn for career related discussions sha.
We were not able to catch up the last time you were in Naija. I got your text late, and I had another programme that night, so can't make it to Protea that night.
But insha Allah, we'll still discuss off-NL. I need mentoring. I want to be a global big boy like you o grin

DK was 2004 set, and you 2002. But being in the same faculty, you may have friends in common.

Epiphany:
Thanks a lot Jarus - i am enjoying Sanusi's articles. The guy really does know how to articulate himself. It is rare to see people (Nigerians) with such good skills in writing as well as speaking. He puts a lot of career journalists to shame.
Thanks. I find it disgusting when people dismiss the man as one gworo-chewing, cattle-rearing, illiterate aboki. He schooled in ABU and Sudan. And so what?

Like him or hate him, the guy sabi. Haba, imagine a banker delving into politics, political economy, history, culture, philosophy and even religion with such ease. You need to read his articles to know his depth of knowledge, and fearlessness and articulation in putting his opinion across. His mastery of English is second to none. Yet, he's an illiterate aboki.

Imagine company plane being despatched to ferry a single person, and the plane had no option than to wait for him, even when he was late to the airport.
Happened yesterday. That is where Loma's academic success has taken him to today.

ROSSIKE:
And you take this yellow toothed fool's words to be sacrosanct because?

It's obvious the man is emotionally compromised in this. Comments like ''It's been 22 years so I really don't remember'', and ''His work on the Gordon Prize has had no impact'' etc etc, sound very very indicative of unprofessional emotional involvement in the issue, considering he was a ''judge''.

I would caution strongly against taking him seriously.

Politics › Re: Sanusi Lamido Faults Sir Olaniwun Ajayi On Northern Domination by Jarus(m): 8:05am On Nov 05, 2010
I have had enough of this Sanusi debate since last year, and since I can see people argue with the mindset that nothing good can come from a Northerner, I have decided to stop engaging in this whole Sanusi debate again. If SLS was a southerner was a Southerner, I'm sure many people will see him as a genius, but since he's a Fulani man, people are suspicious of every move he makes. And before you remind me of Ribadu, let me tell you that that's an exception, and in fact the only Fulani political figure ever that is loved by majority of Southerners.

All these said, I take exception to the claim that Kalu Idika Kalu and Olu Falae were not partly responsible for the economic actions of IBB regime. Of course, it is the president that gives final approval, but most of these policies were drafted and sold to the president. The little economic success of Obj regime, principally debt relief, can easily be traced to Okonjo Iweala. More than Obj himself, his economic team of Iweala, Obi Ezekwesile, Soludo etc were responsible for the direction of the economy then. This was easy to see. Again, they achieved that through Obj's willingness to take their suggestions. Same thing in this YRD/GEJ era, whether we like it or not the Sanusis, Shamsudeen Usmans, Remi Babalolas, Agangas of this world cannot be isolated for whatever happened.

This doesn't mean IBB, Obj or YRD/GEJ can be absolved of the blame/praise, but the reality is their economic team cannot be absolved too.

Like I have always said, I admire's Sanusi's writing skills and fearlessness in putting across his views, even as a corporate executive. Imagine a bank GM engaging professional writers/columnists on their own turf. I have over 30 of Sanusi's articles on my system here, and as requested by Hercules.

I have put some of such articles on NL before: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-320128.0.html

Beaf:
Can someone tell the clown that there is nothing like "Urobo?" It is Uhrobo,
Beaf, you must be off-form today for you to type this. The Beaf I know should know that this error was from the reporter, not SLS. Sanusi made a verbal, ex tempore remarks and it was recorded and put down in writing by the reporter and you are attributing the spelling error to SLS.

Anyway, this is no news, it was discussed extensively on NL here when SLS made the comment late lats year or early this year.

Where is Jarus, isn't he a journalist? Can he work something to publish this?[/quote]I'm not a journalist, not even a freelancer. I only write as a matter of interest, something like a public affairs commentator.

That said, I'm not sure I can help this person. But one thing he can do: he can just walk into any media house - print especially, or electronic - narrate his story, brandishing his evidences, and ask for interview. They will publish it.

Beaf's community can also be of help to take it up.
