Too early to compare. As upcoming, Mikel was better. Though not yet establsihed, Lukmon may be better when established. |
eina:man u bad o ![]() 6 goals, ok at least we will still come home with less goals than our players. many people's prayers is that may we not come home with more goals than players ![]() |
Nigeria defeats Argentina. Messi scores in 32 minutes. Martins hits double in 82 and 91 minutes. Then Nigeria draw NK and win Greece. 7 points. |
Dis Guy:His achievement was not being ASUU chair itself, it was how he fought for the life of education during his regime. And we are talking about standing up against a military govt here. Dis Guy:yes oo, am surprised the ethnic warriors have not come out to call this another northernization. . .and like you said, they trust GJ because he is a southerner, but the action of any person from the north is first seen thru tribal lens. |
I have known Prof Attahiru Jega for almost 18 years, to the extent of knowing all his siblings(Mahmud, editor Daily Trust; Abbass, ED, Afribank, gone with SLS whirlwind; Ibrahim, late ED(public sector) UBA that died last year, my favourite among them; and the last one, can't recall his name, a Judge in Kaduna court of appeal or somewhere). They are all from Jega in present day Kebbi state but grew up in Sokoto. I know all these through my over 15 years of reading newspapers plus my recent reading of Mahmud's columns, where he mentions one or two things about his family in some of his writings. Attahiru is the eldest, I think, and the first one I know, like I said since early 90s even as a primary school pupil. He was ASUU president then and a firebrand progressive that fought for the life of education in the country. He was a thorn in the flesh of IBB junta. He became VC of Bayero University, Kano some years ago and is still. If later becoming a university administrator has not changed him, the I expect him to deliver. A good friend and one of my mentors in writing, Farooq Kperogi, wrote this of Jega recently: http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=15611&catid=288&Itemid=46 |

big father:Dude, stop playing on my intelligence. . .your initial post had nothing to do with preparation or readiness. It was a complete write-off of Eagles and overglorification of Argies, wielding their golas stats. Be humble to admit change of position. This has nothing to do with our readiness: big father: |
kosovo:Bashima posted 8 comments, all on Mamagee. In fact, I'm further convinced mamagee=Bashima. |
big father:No. big father:This obviously mean you expect a drubbing. |
I do not know Tunde Fagbenle to be an ass licker, to use NL's words, but he says this of SLS: http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201006061521315 Of course, he looks at issue here more from political rather than economic perspective, and he is not an authority, but this cannot be dismissed with a wave of hands as well. |
heavily suspecting mamagee=bashima Reason 1: Bashima username registered May 27, 2010. Too new on NL to know much about MG Reason 2: 8 minutes after phemour posted this Phemour:mamagee sudddenly replies
^^Please, don't drag me into this. . I am not Bashima or whatever you call it.
meaning she was most likely around teh thread, watching as Bashima, and quickly logged in(within 8 minutes) to use her mama-gee username. I may be wrong though. |
My favs now are the famed The Nation commentariat(Sam Omatseye - Monday, Segun Gbadegesin- Monday, Olatunji Dare - Tuesday, Mohammed Haruna - Wednesday, Gbenga Omotoso - Thursday, and Segun Gbadegesin - Friday). I hardly even read Simon Kolawole these days. |
I am too confident that even if Argentina will beat SE, it will not be a whitewash, a 1-0 or 2-1 win at most, if not a draw. The whole stats being bandied here are irrelevant. |
END OF 2001/2002 SEASON: Djibril Cisse: 24 goals, Auxerre, Highest goal scorer, Ligue 1 Henry Thiery: 32 goals, Arsenal, Highest goal scorer, EPL David Trezeguet: 32 goals, Juventus, Highest goal scorer, Serie A France Strike force, 2002 WC: Cisse, Henry, Trezeguet. I leave you to complete what happened. No single goal in three matches |
But wait, is it a coincidence that most of the contributors are new, one-digit posters? Or is something going on here? |
While you're busy lamenting on NL here, Saraki is busy feeding the Iya Mulikas in Ilorin and paying Baba Rasidi's hospital's bills. |
Good move by LASG. |
Autos section also has high traffic and qualifies to be included. It has my vote. |

Not very impressed with the title of this thread. Something Like 'Most Trustworthy/Objective and Least Trustworthy/Objective Newspapers in Nigeria' seems more like it. That said, currently, as has been the case in the last four months, I buy and read The Nation daily, not because they are the most objective as I'm aware it's a pro-AC, pro Tinubu paper, but because of their back page commentariat(Segun Gbadegesin, Dare Olatunji, Mohammed Haruna, Gbenga Omotosho and Marijata). Being a former writer for their CampusLife pages and close friend of their CampusLife editor, I don't miss the paper's campusLife on Thursdays, another reason I buy the paper. I also read The Sun, ThisDay, Daily Trust quite regularly, and less regularly, Next, Guardian and Punch. The Nation praise-sings Tinubu too much for my liking, likewise Kalu-owned The Sun. Despite being owned by a PDP opportunist, ThisDay still tries to be objective and I think the man gives the Simon Kolawoles, Ijeoma Nwogwugwus, Yusuph Olaniyonus freehands. The paper bashes PDP despite the hobnobbing of its owner with PDP chiefs. I will give it to ThisDay in terms of objectivity, closely followed by Guardian despite being owned by Ibru. Next is also trying. |

It appears Lagerback is trying to enforce discipline and that will be good for the team. |

bilms:Bros, so u be omo Offa too. Do you stay in Offa?
The funny thing about politics is that some just talk while others act. It is not unlikely that you are not even prepared to vote while the old women in Ilorin that worship saraki have marked out the election day and are prepared to wait even 10 hours in the sun to vote. I have stayed in kwara for sometime and sincerely have great dislike for saraki too, but i must be quick to acknowledge that the guy is popular. Yes he rigs elections but even without rigging the guy is popular in kwara, and my broda since the mechanic, motor park tout, the aged-almost-dying women in kwara are entitled to one vote like you even with your PHD, then until the man dies like Adedibu he will be the main kingmaker. The other problem is , those that claim to have broken free from saraki have not done anything substantial to justify that saraki really is the enemy of the people. Lawal started it but could not make any impact as people only saw those UP-LAWAL tanks that had no water in them. I think senator Ajadi was not saraki's boy he contested and defeated Ajibola who was saraki's candidate . The other important factor is the Ilorin emirate, that is very very comfortable with saraki as he is one of the key factors stopping the emergence of an Oba in Ilorin. The fact that you are from Offa too will most likely make you biased against Saraki. From the days of J.S olawoyin , the avergae Offa indigene does not like saraki and they show it at every opportunity. I remember once when saraki was coming from igosun to Ilorin and needed to connect the Offa-iLORIN road at that railway junction after owode market. Some youths blocked the road with weapons , that saraki would never be allowed to pass through their town. Infact it was a laughable scene as the guys dared mobile police men not minding that the road in question was a federal road.
Gbam! |
