Politics › Re: Ribadu To Emerge As Ac Presidential Candidate by Jarus(m): 12:10pm On Jul 09, 2010
My analysis:

ASSUMPTION: INEC is an unbiased umpire, elections free and fair.

FACTORS IN FAVOUR OF THIS TICKET
1, The North will overwhelmingly vote for their son. Plus their current, coordinated clamour to finish their term(which YRD spent halfway). If PDP fields GEJ, Ribadu will have at least 70% of the northern votes(incumbency factor), if not Jonathan but a non-northerner, at least 80%(incumbency factor will be minimal)
2, AC already has Lagos. Add Fashola factor to that. More landmark support. I see this ticket winning at least 90% of Lagos votes
3, Ribadu is a good-sell in the South-West. Even more appealing is Fashola. If PDP fields a non-Yoruba, this ticket will win at least 70% of SW votes. If PDP fields a Yoruba, which is very unlikely, then votes here may be shared 55-45, 55% for Ribadu-Fashola candidacy.
4, If PDP fields GEJ, Ribadu/Fashola ticket may not pull up to 30% in the East. If they don't field GEJ but a strong easterner, R-F may get a little higher vote, like 35%, but if PDP goes for a non-Easterner, they will shoot themselves in the leg and R-F ticket may pull up to 50% here too.

PDP'S OPTIONS
1, Field GEJ, garner incumbency factor. This will give R-F ticket a run for their money. With the current political currents(dumping of Zoning, north feels they've been cheated), the North appears not ready to vote for GEJ. With this PDP may gather like 30% northern votes, 50% votes in the middle belt, 50% in the SW, like 95% in the Niger Delta, and like 70% in non-ND Eastern states. Coverted to absolute figures, they may edge out AC's R-F.
2, Not field GEJ but a northerner. This may break northern votes, depending on the candidate fielded, but the incumbency factor will not be strong enough for them. AC's R-F will overwhelmingly win SW, especially Lagos. East's votes will also be divided. It may end up as close call here too.

I have known the medicinal value of honey for some time now; but extremely difficult to get original one especially in Lagos. I get original in the village anytime I travel home.

Health › Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Jarus(m): 10:05am On Jul 09, 2010
Doctors in the house, please I need your advice asap:

-I have been having pains in the lower abdomen, right side, sometime to the back, for about 4 months now. It's not so serious except on very few occasions, just mild discomfort but my concern is that it has persisted for over 4 months. Anytime I go to Dr I complain but they hardly take it seriously. The last time I went to see my Dr, he gave me neurovit forte forte and asked me to come back after three weeks.
-Now my question is, what does Neurovit forte cure as the Dr did not tell me anything, just gave me that drug?
-Also, what could lower, right abdominal discomfort symptomize?

Balogun et al, pls advise.

Thanks

Intercontinental bank are a sham. Their books are cooked. Their balance sheet and P&L paints such a beautiful picture that they must be liars! No wonder they would stoop so low as to send threatening emails. Like bank, like employees.
To think Ibime said this in March 2009, before the Sanusi Tsunami.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: 90% Of Chelsea Fans In Nigeria Are Post Abrahamovich? by Jarus(m): 6:50pm On Jul 08, 2010
I fully agree with the OP here. 90% of Chelsea fans I know joined the frenzy Mourinho brought to EPL.
I know only one person that supported Chelsea pre-JM. Oh why Chelsea?! That's the first thing I ask when I see a refined person support Chelsea. Many Chelsea fans in Nigerians are people that asks questions like 'What is Yobo doing at the back?'
Admittedly, I also started supporting Arsenal in 1999 when Kanu joined. And I know many Nigerians also have same reason for supporting Arsenal.

@jarus. As for those people i mentioned joining PDP, my brother forget it, this are hardened progressives who will not even hear of such thing. Remember in every democratic dispensation in this country since independence, its only the south western progressives that always give the north a run for their money, can you tell me the number of former progressive governors from the west that has join the pdp, i mean people from ad, upn, ac we just dont sell our birth right like that.
Looking back, I'm beginning to go with you. I have some scepticism about Tinubu though. I will not be surprised if he joins PDP.
That said, I think you're right to a large extent, especially for the old-generation SW politicians taht are still around(i.e Bisi Akande and co). But these new generation boys move from one party to another, no ideology.

Awolowo's brand of politics was ideology-driven, and so are many of his disciples that are still around. They prefer to remain in opposition as minority rather than p.ro.stitute with the ruling party just for power. I reason with you.

You can blame him, he is an easterner or ibo guy, you cant really trust any of their politicians, they can sell their birthright for a thousand naira, BISI AKANDE, BOLA TINUBU, OLUSEGUN OSOBA, JIMI AGBAJE and other progressives of YORUBA extract will never do that. Easterners, is there any progressive politician among them?
I all honesty, i think Naija politicians, irrespective of tribe, are the same thing. I will not be surprised if Bola Tinuba joins PDP.

@OP, God bless you real good for giving me this opportunity.

I want to appreciate God Almighty for his Grace that has brought me this far in life. Without him, I couldn't have achieved anything.

I want to sincerely thank my dad (R.I.P.) for his encouragement and for teaching and giving me the courage to challenge life with my heads raised up without any iota of fear. Thank you also for the threat you gave me when I brought my JSS1HG first term report card that bringing back such a poor result implies my going back to join my mates in Primary 6.

To my mum, who despite her being more bouyant financially than my dad stood by the entire family and supported her husband all the way ensuring that we were educated. For your prayers, academic, moral and financial supports, I am very grateful.

To Debo Fawehinmi and my teachers who told me I was very brilliant and intelligent thus giving me the confidence which really paid off in the long run.

To my roommates and friends all through school, you all are the best. Thanks for the challenging quarrels we had 'cos most times, they gave me the opportunity to see life from some other perspectives. Thanks also for the good times we shared. I appreciate them all.

To Tobi, thank you for the ECN301 brush up you gave me the morning I came back from Bayelsa. It really boosted my performance in the exams and ensured I did not have an extra year.

To my banking colleagues you all are the best. To Dimsky, for the opportunity of crossing over to my new bank and to oga Miyen, from taking me out from my former unit to the present one.

To my siblings, you guys are the best. U made me who I am today and may God in his infinite mercies make us all great and achievers in life.

God, you are the giver of every good and perfect gift and in you, there is no shadow of turning. I give you all the glory, honour and adoration once again 'cos only you hath worthy to be praised over my life.

Hmmmnnnnn, oro.

1, Almighty Allah. Got no words to perfectly describe your favour on me.
2, My big brother, Keem, now CEO StanbicIBTC Stockbroking Ltd, for guiding me through, motivating and advising. Thruout all the stages of my education and till now. You made me read Economics, when a naive me had already completed 'Biz Admin' and 'Banking & Finance' in my JAMB form. You asked, subtly, not wanting to be like you were compelling me, why not Economics, it encompasses all these courses you chose? I could have regretted it today If I did not go for Econs. You are the standard in the family and always looking forward to being like you, even though our own generation are less talented and not as cool-headed. You are the most humble person I have ever come across. How I wish I am you humble and cool-headed.
3, Dad, for providing the finance
4, Mum, for the prayers
5, Michael Taiwo, childhood friend, for building can-do spirit in me. Same primary school, secondary school and university. Could have settled for less in secondary school, and in Varsity in particular. You believe in me more than myself. You encouraged me to strive for the School's Hall of Fame(Distinction Students) in our final year in secondary school, and surprisingly, even to myself, I made it, second only to you. You continued the motivation at the University. Getting to Ife a year earlier than me, you temporarily accomodated me on my first day on campus, gave me all the tips I needed to succeed on Ife campus, and declared me good to go, with constant checking. I did not disappoint you. We both graduated together five years later, with 1.1. All these despite you being a staunch Christian/pastor and me a 'conc' Muslim.
6, My bosses in places I have worked so far. My current boss is wonderful, so were my bosses in Vetiva. I have always been lucky to have good bosses everywhere I work.
7, My siblings, and extended family, for believing in me
8, My good friends, Busayo in particular, for staying by me all times.

Politics › Re: Bukola Saraki Appeals To Nigerians In America by Jarus(m): 9:39pm On Jul 05, 2010
bisilawal:
Dr. Bukola Saraki on Saturday (July 3, 2010) called on indigenes of Kwara State living in America to contribute to the development of the state, and Nigeria at large. He made this call in Seattle (Washington State) during the conferment of a merit award on him, by the North American chapter of Kwara State Association of Nigeria (KSANG).

The governor urged Kwarans in the diaspora to take their rightful place in the development of their fatherland. He added that the Kwara State government was prepared to work with KSANG to achieve this objective.

Dr. Saraki observed that Kwara State has achieved giant strides in the past seven years, especially in the areas of agriculture, energy, education reform, healthcare delivery, infrastructural development, housing and security. According to him:

“In Nigeria today, Kwara is a pacesetter and we will continue to play that key role in our dear state and the nation.”

Speaking at the occasion, Nigeria’s Ambassador to the US, Prof. Ade Adefuye commended KSANG for the honor, which t bestowed on dr. Bukola Saraki. He called on other governors to emulate Dr. Bukola Saraki, saying that his achievements were there for everyone to see. He said:

“It is a matter of fact that Kwara has one of the best electricity supply in Nigeria today.”

He also commended Dr. Bukola Saraki for inviting white Zimbabwean farmers to initiate commercial agriculture in Nigeria, stressing, “it takes a genius to do that.”

Prof. Adefuye called on Nigerians in the US to be good citizens in their host country. He said the relationship between Nigeria and the US has improved significantly with both countries signing bilateral agreements and Nigeria being struck off the terror watch list. All these he said should be complemented by Nigerians in the US by being good ambassadors of their country and living within the law of their host country.

Prof. Adefuye disclosed that the Nigerian embassy in the US is sparing no efforts to improve on its services to adequately cater for the needs of Nigerians living in America.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Lt. Governor of Washington State, Mr. Bradley Owen, described Nigeria as an emerging market and a strong business ally of the of the US. According to him, there is a need to enlighten the people that Nigeria is a growing economy and a safe place to invest. “There is a need to raise the awareness that there are great trade opportunities in Nigeria”, he said.
