dayokanu:I always thought you were someone not so interested in Nigerian politics, especially of old, and so know little about past politics/political happenings in Nigeria, until I came across this and some other comments of yours. In our generation, only someone versed in Naija politics will recall these names of presidential candidates, especially Lema Jubril, Bamanga Tukur, Adamu Ciroma etc. Needless to add that Olusola Saraki, Dele Cole, one Saleh something, were other aspirants at the time. |
I'm looking forward to Mekuxsss(Nna) Vs Becomrich(Yoruba) thread. It's gonna be explosive if these two guys meet. Very funny set of people, canvassing for opposite cause in similarly extreme manner, |
GboyegaD:Who could this be in my dept? If my classmate, then this has to be AD, now in bankPhb! If my junior or senior, can't guess. |

He said: "When the aircraft was hovering for the weather to clear off for landing, all aircraft flying into Lagos and those aircraft billed to take off were advised to be on hold, pending when the situation will be clear."No wonder. I was also trapped in Kaduna yesterday because of this directive. We were already on-board by 8.15am when the announcement was made that the weather in Lagos was inclement and we had to wait. We waited in the aircraft for about two hours, but it later turned out to be a blessing in disguise. After receiving clearance from Lagos that we were good to go, it was then that Chanchangi discovered that our plane had technical issue, and we were asked to disembark, and went back to the waiting area. We waited for another two hours before eventually taking-off by 12 noon, an 8 am flight for that matter. Anyway, while all these brouhaha were going on, one of the things that were going on in my mind was how the thread will look like on NL if the worst happened(like 'Plane Crash in Kaduna: Nairalnder Jarus survives ). The flight turned out to be smooth though, unlike Babatope and Co's. |
For over two hours, the Boeing 737 jet hovered in the air. It could not land – no thanks to the bad weather that made landing a risky venture. Some passengers were praying; others, apparently confused, just cried like babies. The Aero Contractors plane made seven unsuccessful attempts to land. Among the passengers were Executive Secretary, Nigerian Education Research and Development Council (NERDC), Prof. Olu Aina and the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion. Former Transport Minister Ebenezer Babatope was also on board. He told our reporter on telephone that he was "a living dead" while the experience lasted. The turbulence forced the passengers to shout and pray to God for safety, he said. Said Babatope: "If not for sheer providence, the way and manner the aircraft was jerking and vibrating in the air could force any of the passengers to run to the conclusion that the worst could happen. "My brother, it was God who saved our lives. After we took off from Abuja about 7.32 am, it was normal cruising, until 15 minutes into Lagos when the pilot told us that we would experience some turbulence. At this point, all the passengers had started exhibiting emotional mood swings. "As the aircraft swirled in the air, we shouted, prayed and were literally shaken that the plane was going to crash. We did not hear anything from the pilot who had told us that the flight into Lagos was to take us only 50 minutes. "As the thunderstorm got worse, we were shaken. The first time the pilot attempted to initiate landing of the aircraft, it was aborted. He tried seven times before the aircraft safely landed at the new domestic Terminal Two of the Lagos Airport. "When we got down, my brother, I was shaken. Imagine how this country could have lost between 90 to 100 prominent people in an air crash. It could have been the worst in the history of this country. "But, we thank God that we finally landed safely." According to Babatope, the aircraft, was filled with passengers in the business class seats, was filled up. He recalled that for the hours the aircraft remained in the air, there was tension among the passengers. Aero spokesperson Simon Tumba attributed the development to inclement weather. During the flight, all aircraft within the Lagos airspace were advised to be on hold, pending the clearing of the inclement weather. He said: "When the aircraft was hovering for the weather to clear off for landing, all aircraft flying into Lagos and those aircraft billed to take off were advised to be on hold, pending when the situation will be clear." Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) spokesman Sam Adurogboye said the agency had not received a mandatory occurrence report. http://thenationonlineng.net/web2/articles/45169/1/Passengers-weep-as-plane-struggles-to-land-for-hours/Page1.html#postedcomment |
RSA:Ok, we hear you, RSA is holy, you no dey cheat for age-grade competitions. But what happens at the senior national team level? At least no age-cheating there, no bribery etc. What has SA achieved here? The reason why I believe your excuse for the failure of SA to make impact in African football doesn't hold water. |
@jarus Meaning u re ok with d current state of d Nigerian economy?
This has already been overdiscussed in Sanusi threads that litter this section while you were away. The summary of my position is: The economy is not in the best shape, but I think it's a short term price for medium and long term benefits. The economy would have been worse but for SLS intervention. Refer to past and recent Sanusi threads for full analyses and discussions. I'm tired of this Sanusi debate since almost a year now. |
Ujujoan:BCR na character o I PMed him, emailed him, na incoherent messages I dey get. He later opened a thread to express his readiness, yet I no see am again |

Oya, becomrich, answer your questions: 1, Kindly introduce yourself? 2, When did you join Nairaland? 3, Why do you like to post satellite pictures and maps everytime? 4, Some people say you are a robot, and not human, can you comment on that? 5, You once said you wanted the Yorubas to merge with Benin republic, how do you think that is possible? 6, What job do you do in Canada? 7, You always say you read 'electricity engineering' in Unilorin, what is the difference between 'electricity engineering' and electrical engineering? But we learnt there is nothing like electricity engineering 8, Who is your favourite nairalander 9, Sometime last year, you were campaigning that you wanted to become president of Nigeria, is that not contradictory to your struggle that Yorubas should secede from Nigeria and join Benin republic? 10, People heavily criticize your grammar, don't you think you need to work on your English? 11, What advice do you have for Nairalanders? |
Let's meet here: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-413742.0.html I'll send the questions to your email. |
@ Jarus spare me the lengthy sermon. This is what I pointed out to you: like i said, you remind me of almajiri sponsors. texazzpete:SLS even has an MSC Economics degree, ABu 1983, but it's only his Islamic studies degree they are obsessed with. |
@ Jarus same thing you did with deepzone, right? happily cheering secretly from the sidelines when certain of your NL "enemies" are being excessively insulted by your hoodlums here. You remind me of almajiri sponsors who wipe mouth then send their thugs out to pillage and murder. Search very well for crackles- he's right where you want him to be.
LOL @ bolded. I don't have any enemy on NL. It is natural to flow more with some people due to their personalities. I did not say Crackles has a good record on NL, especially for his tendency for using curse words, some of which you pulled out up there, but that doesn't mean we should not know about him when he's not around. Same for Deepzone, and even if you are also unusually absent on NL for long, I wouldn't have hesitated to open thread to ask for your whereabout as is traditional. I have had clashes with you when I was still relatively a rookie on NL and didn't know much about you(remember that 'DZ Vs Tpia' thread?). Knowing you more later I resorted to ignoring you, as recently as when you picked the sentence 'from the accounts of the pastor that saw him' in my thread/article on Turai Yar'adua. This is the first time I'm we are exchanging posts in a long time.
you probably cheered him on for his buffoonery and ugly ways prior to this event. Now you're weeping crocodile tears for whatever reason.
Shakes head. |

dominique:Somebody that knew him in real life broke the news. And it was later confirmed by his family etc. This was the thread where the guy was jokingly posting co-Forumer's Obituary: http://discussions.ghanaweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=102498&highlight=cerezo+dead can't find the thread announcing his death few days later but here is one of the threads opened in his memory: http://discussions.ghanaweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=103269&start=0 Note that the two threads occurred a week after the other. |
