How come I never heard of this man |
candylips:u dey dat end too. |
Eto'o is one of the most patriotic and committed African players to their NTs. -Featured in all ANCs for Cameroun since 2000. -Highest scoring player in ANC history, playing for Cameroun -Once spent his personal money for Cameroun NT -Two-time ANC highest scorer, all playing for Cameroun -Wept patriotically for Cameroun, as if he was not a world-class star, when Cameroun failed to qualify to 2006 WC -Hardly has bust-ups with his NT coaches, despite being a big star, on whose head fame and stardom could easily get into. Mido and Mccarty are less established stars, yet held their countries to ransom because they play in EPL only -Plays virtually every game for Cameroun NT, even if it's friendly he could have easily excused himself from -Wears Cameroun colours in moments of his European exploits, like UCL wins. If that's not love for his country, what is it. -Left Mallorca midway into match and flew to join Cameroun NT in 2002 Confederation cup, scoring that goal against Brazil and lots more. What else does Milla want? |
Interesting to know that it's on Ghanaian forum that I first got teh breaking news that SE has arrived in SA. http://discussions.ghanaweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=122525 |

honeric01:August 2007. Goaless http://www.footballepl.com/match/statistics?gameid=C0A8AE020000011DCD535FC00E9EF158 |
honeric01:Well, that may be a little exaggeration but I think if SE had won 3-1 or so, many people will agree that SE did well in that match. I watched virutally every SE match since 2004 till Vs Colombia except not televised. From less fancied ones like Vs Macedonia to Vs Jamaica etc to Vs big teams like France to all the ANC matches between 2004 and 2010, to all the qualifying series against the Nigers, S/Leones, E/Guineas of this world. SE has had frustrating and embarrassing shows between 2004 and 2010, and the few games I can count out are Unity Cup in London in 2004(against Ireland and Jamaica), Vs Cameroun in 2004 ANC QF, Vs France in friendly 2009, Vs Zimbabwe(both legs) October 2005 in 06 WC qualifying series, vs Mozambique in last ANC, and Vs Colombia last week. I will not count a performance against Zimbabwe or Moz as splendid. Ditto for Vs Jamaica. So I'm left with vs France and Colombia( vs Cameroun was in January, hence predated the 'since vs Ireland' assertion ) Anyway, I agree it's debatable but I'm convinced they had a decent show vs Colombia, far better than 95% of their pgames since 2004. |
12large:You need not insult me bros. Try to be civil a bit. Sierra Leone is not a quality opposition. Against Mozambique at ANC 2010 too, they played well and won convincingly, but I deliberately left taht out because Mozambique is also not a quality opposition. France? I agree they played well against France, but not better than their performance against Colombia, only that they won the former and drew the latter. |
12large:Creative players my foot. These are not the type of creative midfielders the writer was referring to. We are talking about JJ, Abedi Pele and you are mentioning Lukman Haruna, Okoro, Ekpo. Rabiu that cannot break into Sporting Lisbon team after about 2 seasons or Ekpo that is stucked in MLS. Imagine parading Okoro and Rabiu against Macherano & Veron. These are not the type of creative midfielders the writer was talking about jare. |
12large:It either you watched a different match or watched the match in an old black and white TV that shows only curtain-line. Let's give it to these boys, the game against Colombia was a significant improvement over their performances in recent time. In fact the last time I saw Eagles play like this was against Ireland in, I think, 2004(Martins' debut). I'm talking about holding a quality opposition like Colombia that beat Argentina in the qualifying series. If even a second-rate team, Colombia, like many other South American countries, are no pushover in world football. The scoreline did not reflect the tilt of the game. Possession was about 58-42 in Eagles' favour, even though the Colombians also showed class and you can see how coordinated they were. This however doesn't mean Eagles have arrived. No, far from that. There is still a long way to go, especially with our attacking prowess. We did not look sharp enough in the attack, little wonder it was a midfielder that scored. RATINGS: Every member of that team scored at least 5 over ten, but the following deserve special mention: 1, Haruna Lukman: 7/10. I have seen his goals at Monaco and I wasn't surprised at the one he scored vs Colombia. He can do that against any team, even against the Argies. If he puts his head in check, he may be the solution to our long problematic midfield. Combining a more powerful, more hard tackling, more attack minded Lukmon with more shooting ability with a fluid but more experienced Mikel, with Etuhu at their back, we may not have a disgraceful outing in SA. 2, Martins: 6/10. Martins showed his hardworking, selfless self. He made good runs around the 18 yards and was always charging their opposition defence. He only needs to be more adventurous. 3, Etuhu 6.5/10. Etuhu also had a good display, held the holding midfield very well. Can't only remember him lose only one ball, against a no-push-over Colombians that paraded a couple of EPL players. He won many balls. 4, Rabiu Afolabi: 7/10. This guy was also outstanding and stopped the daring Colombians many times. He combined well with Adeleye, and covered well for Chidi Ordiah anytime he went forward. 5, Sani Kaita: 6/10. Although I'll not advise that Lagerback uses Kaita as a winger, rather than our natural wingers of Obasi, Osaze and Utaka, as he experimented Vs Colombia, the guy did creditably well in the strange position. 6, Chidi Ordiah 6/10. He also displayed some flashes of his 2006 ANC form that won him the tournament's 2nd MVP. Very skilful. He only needs to work on his recovery rate. |
Thread revived. |
Edoyad, Which University did you go? Let's start from there. |
Jarus, no do this thing wey you do again o! You could have ignored his post .The statement in bold is not becoming of youSorry for disappointing you guys jare. The guy provoked me. Statement retracted. |
You could have ignored his post .The statement in bold is not becoming of you There is no risk here, you are clearly a religious bigot, not sounding like one.Thank you guys jare. I know him very well since he was bearing the username Yemmyse far back 2008. He follows me around and his only problem with me is that I'm a Muslim. I'd better ignored him. |
At d risk of sounding bigotry, ve kinda noticed that jarus' staunch support for Sanusi is based solely on religious sentiments and not sound judgement. Even Greece and the other PIIGS countries didn't not discredit their banks the way Sanusi did ours. Personally,I think its a shame for any sound economists to argue in favour of d sadist called Sanusi.Knowing you very well, I wont give a detailed reply to you. I've gone beyond replying a dumbhead bigot like you. Your only problem with me is that I'm a Muslim. And if you cross my path, I'll finish you on NL. |
Several depositors whose life savings would have been swept away under the guise of global financial crisis had their monies restored just at the nick of time. Before Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was appointed governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on June 4, 2009, nobody knew that a financial tsunami was in the offing. If what the apex bank authorities said before the appointment of Sanusi was anything to go by, Nigeria was insulated from the global financial crisis and, in fact, the nation's banks were some of the best in the world, with one of the most impressive Returns on Investment (RoI) at the capital market. Funny enough, in spite of this hype, it took Sanusi only about two months to discover the rot that could have dragged the whole of the banking industry down. In his popular speech delivered on August 14, 2009, Sanusi said, "A few Nigerian banks mainly due to the high concentration in their exposure to certain sectors (capital market and oil and gas being the prominent ones), but due to a general weakness in risk management, have continued to display signs of failure." That was the first sign to indicate that the new helmsman after all meant business. The fall out of that speech was a special audit of the existing banks which in the first instance exposed five banks as "troubled banks." They were, however bailed to avoid a backlash on hapless depositors. Bismarck Rewane, chief executive officer, Financial Derivatives, told BusinessDay in a telephone interview that the stewardship of the CBN governor could best be assessed by looking at how much he has achieved on the agenda he set. It would be recalled for instance, that after the first sanitisation exercise that saw eight banks' managing directors and their executive directors removed from office, the second phase of his reforms was keyed into what he termed the '4-pillars'. These entailed strengthening the quality of banks, establishing financial sector stability, enabling healthy financial sector and ensuring the financial sector contributes to the real economy. John Okolosi, a banker in Lagos, said the Central Bank had shown it could achieve the 4-pillars it set for itself. He, however, said the four goals set by the apex bank could only be achieved over time and not just in one year, as some people would want to do. He acknowledged that the banks were gradually being strengthened with most of them whittling down their bloated non-performing loans. Wale Abe, chief executive, Financial Market Dealers Association of Nigeria (FMDA), said, "The reforms so far have been able to stabilise the sector which had public confidence eroded and a destabilising effect on the various markets, especially the equity market. "But aside from the relative stability now prevailing, there is a gradual restoration of confidence in the future of the industry," he said. On stability, he said, the injection of liquidity as bail-out fund, helped to rejuvenate the waning confidence then. "Every other policy, one after the other and the increased collaboration and coordination of all the Financial Sector Regulatory Agencies, which he has also promoted, since assuming office have further led to strengthening of the sector. In addition to his policies, and apart from stabilising the market against volatility, the policies have also ensured improved risk management; principles and practice, promoted sound corporate governance practices. It's my opinion that all these will lead to future growth and financial stability," he observed. Abe, however, insisted that these achievements were not without some side effects, but added that the benefits far outweighed whatever pains the industry has so far experienced. Sanusi, meanwhile, has also received kudos in the area of Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMC) set up as an exit or resolution vehicle to assist in the recapitalisation of the rescued banks. Some of the negative impacts of the reforms being felt by the economy, experts say, may be removed with the full implementation of the AMC when finally signed into law. It is seen as one of the measures put in place to get banks resume lending again. At the same time, the issue of fixing the demand and supply sides of credit and need to reinforce/complement the role of the fiscal authorities to improve the business through an enabling environment by fixing gaps in infrastructure, security, power, anti-corruption, among others. Taiwo Ayedun, managing director, CreditRegistry, said the performance of the governor in the past one year remain commendable. "The governor is energetic. He hit the ground running and has displayed tremendous courage in prosecuting crucial issues around proper and adequate disclosures which are necessary for a healthy and functioning financial system," he said. According to him, the central bank has focused on strong risk management, good corporate governance transparency and accountability. He further added that the governor had increased the momentum on the adoption and use by banks of credit bureau information to make informed decisions in order to reduce credit defaults and expand credit. "Going forward, the governor should endeavour to sustain the gains of the reforms and move the economy to the next phase such that banking touches the lives of ordinary people and the real sector of the economy," he said. http://www.businessdayonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=11472:sanusis-one-year-a-bitter-truth-that-rescued-depositors-fund&catid=54:banking-finance&Itemid=326 |

Most of us nairalanders in my organization know one another, and I think I'm no 2. My oga and teh Chief Nairalander of my company has not come here but most people know him ![]() My colleagues know my NL exploits, and I even used to joke with them that NL increases my productivity as I get valuable knowledge and information that enhance my performance. Hmmmnnnnnn. In fact some of my colleagues can tell from my countenace when I face teh system whether I am on NL or doing office work. In any case, I must admit that uncontrollable nairalanding is not good for productivity. If I'm a CEO, I will ban FB totally and make NL available only 6-8 in the morning and 5-10 in the evening. |
