PoliticsRe: Ojukwu On Life Support And In Critical Condition by jason123: 9:14am On Jul 27, 2011
May God help this man!!! Amen!!!

@Kasiem

Nice story. Very funny.
This one actually happened. Before I left Nigeria, I personally fought with THREE Igbo Guys together and beat them to pulp. They were calling me "omo-boti", "bolo", weakling, coward and all sorts before I beat SENSE into them, London style!!! grin Although, I sustained a lot of injuries. BUT I BEAT SENSE into their HEADS!!! cheesy They will NEVER try to fight an "omo-boti" again in their lives. One of them is still my best friend as we speak and he knows himself when he reads this.
Although, hard to believe, it is true. That is why I laugh at some of the things being said here on NL. One will think no man in the country can touch an Igbo man, let alone, fight an Igbo man.
If these people are on NL. They will know that I was referring to them!!! cool

kasiem:
I could remember a certain day that a fight erupted between a yuruba and an igbo guy. When the fight was about starting, the yoriba guy started shouting "brother come ooo, aunty come ooo, i go kil person ooo ", when everybody gathered, the igbo gave him the first slap. Na im dis yorobo coward con turn around, shouting "make una hold me, i nor wan fight"!

Meaning nothing is going on in ND, you're just stating what you'd love to see happen in ND.

I don't even see that state going anywhere. With so much money and a population of just a little over a million and that state is still like sh/it hole?

You have to agree that that statement is a very FOO.LISH statement!!!
Have you even been to the state to condemn it?? Everything is not about Lagos, you know?? I quite agree, Lagos is good and all but Lagos had the advantage of being the capital once in her existence, hence, should not be compared to Delta who has never had the privilege of being the capital.

@ Eko-ile
The problem with Delta state and indeed other ND states is CORRUPTION. Right now, I agree that Delta state cannot be compared with Lagos and may never because of Lagos state's initiatives for the future but we are getting there. Atleast, after Lagos state and Port harcourt city (Not rivers state), we are next. cool

I do not like this idea. Lagos should focus on improving infrastructure instead of buying land for rice cultivation. The private sector should be the one who invest rice cultivation.

Some of the statements above is why I keep suggesting you stop pulling your facts out of thing air.

As for your first paragraph, if you missed the events of the past 2 weeks in that state, then again, I suggest you learn to zip it when it comes to matters you are not aware of.
What are you chattinghuh huh undecided embarassed
So, you are going to use two-weeks of Natural disaster to judge Lagoshuh Wow. Incase no one on this forum rebuked you, I will. How can a state that cannot afford such as project, start the project so that people like you will start accusing her when she goes bankrupthuh

Kobojunkie:
How many of our graduates are willing to go into farming? In your mind, you are convinced that the 10s of thousands of agricultural science/zoology/animal husbandry etc. graduates we have in that country, many of them from within Lagos there, do not want to venture into farming at all? shocked shocked shocked  You mean even though we have more people graduating from other sciences and arts areas than Law/accounting/medicine, we should not show concern for those at all because you have conveniently convinced yourself that only those who go in for law degrees, accounting degrees and even medicine, should be counted?

Look, I think, again, you should try visiting facts, rather than continuing to pull your messages out of thin air! Honestly, I am not here for more of this, so accept this is my last post to you on this as I am here for the rational discussions.
Wtf?!
Okay, who will provide the money for the them to be commercial farmers? Is it not the State?? And if its the state, what difference does it make if the state invest in herself??

Kobojunkie, why are your arguments always "concocted"? In fact, I am also done with you!

PoliticsRe: Why Is Lagos Center Of Excellence by jason123: 2:30am On Jul 27, 2011
@ Afam4ever
You asked a valid question which should not be condemned.
Lagos is the center of excellence because NOTHING new comes to Nigeria without hitting the Lagos market for it to have a National coverage and acceptance.
Lagos is the center of excellence because its economy is greater than most African countries and her population is greater than most African countries.
Lagos is the center of excellence because it is the gate way to get to other West-african countries
Lagos is the center of excellence because it is the most HETEROGENEOUS state in the country and possibly Africa.
Lagos is the center of excellence because it is the most DIFFICULT state to manage in Nigeria
Lagos is the center of excellence because apart from her population DENSITY, there has been little or no ethno-religious crises when compared to other states and countries with similar demographics in Nigeria and Africa respectively.
Lagos state is the center of excellence because it is on the fore-front of progress in Nigeria with innovative ideas to deal with problems

I hope this answered your question??

PoliticsRe: Lagos May Acquire Land Outside State For Rice Cultivation by jason123: 2:19am On Jul 27, 2011
Kobojunkie:
Please, visit facts before you post. Nigeria used to show great potential in this area. At one point, we produced, I believe, about 40% or even more, of rice we consumed.

Government going out to acquire land is opposite of what we need. If anything, what we need is government creating for us a better environment for to encourage us, our graduates especially, to go back to the land.
@ first paragraph
Can you provide evidence for this??
@ second
How many of our graduates are willing to go into farming?? Most go to school to be a doctor, Lawyer, accountant etc. No one or VERY VERY FEW will actually go to uni to study agricultural science.

Moreover, this is state affair not a federal affair. The S-west is not known for Rice.

If you do not know what is still needed, then you are probably best staying away from discussions on these issues.
Abegi jor, how can a state (Lagos) that is being paid for 10 million people and is taking care of almost DOUBLE the population be perfect?? Howhuh It one thing to criticise and its another to find a way out of a problem. Its better we move on from this criticising mentality and start looking for solutions. YET, it is only Lagos that will take up the initiative to do things, we still criticise. . . . Lagos state has tried and we should encourage her.
PoliticsRe: Lagos May Acquire Land Outside State For Rice Cultivation by jason123: 2:10am On Jul 27, 2011
Dapo, people are scared of investing in Nigeria especially for a commodity such as rice where Nigeria has NEVER showed the potential of making it big in that industry. You really should not expect the private sector to invest in things that involve high risk such as this.

Somehow I think this is another "WAYO" news to make the Lagos Agbero's come in to tell us why we must all bow to Lagos or something. . . . lol

Why is a state, that is yet to provide adequately for the basic needs of the people looking into buying land now? So the state can hire more hands and reduce funds available for actual development, for the next 2-5 years??  undecided undecided undecided

How much have we realized from the generator business? Where is that money currently going? How much??
WTF??!!!
Can you please list the basic need of the "people" that Lagos has not provided? Mind you, not every "basic need" is the job of Lagos to provide. Also, its being paid for 10 milllion people when 18 million people live there.

@kasiem, for once in your life, try to converse without this tribalist bias of yours. Lets try to look at issues as Nigerians - can't you simply be as detribalized as i am, even if its only for a moment? Don't be surprised to find out that my dad or mom is from your village, olodo.

@Negro_Ntns, hehehehe, I am closer to that someone who you described as follows: [bsomeone more likely you don't even see or hear from so you are emotionaly disengaged from their agony and grief[/b]. We shall fight you people until the last bullet is exhausted before we allow you to cause the deaths of these innocent people. Enough is enough, Rwanda will not take place in god's own country, Nigeria. Shikena.
@Bolded

That is too difficult a task for him!!! No point telling him.

Ndu_chucks, I want Southern Nigeria (Even if we further break up). Because I do not want to be in the same country with Northerner (Hausa fulanis) who skew EVERYTHING in their favour and yet not want progress.

.)Why are YOUNG AND INTELLIGENT NORTHERNERS like YOU, ALJ HAREM, ABU-MARYAM, NAVFAM, GADOGADO,CYBORG, MUZA etc, taking up the mantel of Leadership in the North like their counterparts in the South (Fashola, Amechi, Duke, Chime, Tinubu, Rochas etc)huh Why are you leaving leadership to the aristocratshuh
.)Why are the North SO Pro-violenthuh What happen to the art of dialogue??

Funny people!!! grin grin grin
@kettykins
Please, do not forget common sense when discussing issues. I understand that you want to insult or say the "truth" about Yorubas and I have got no problem with that. ts your opinion but at least, try to think about what you are saying.
Firstly, you expect the WHOLE Yoruba race to fight because of one man's ambition such as OBJ and cohuh Please, why should they do thathuh
Secondly, you call them cowards but it is ONLY Biafrans that I know will allow their leader (Ojukwu) to run away in the heat of war. Incase you do not know, in Yoruba land, if you fight a war and lose it, the Leader or General that led you to that war MUST die!!! His presence will be humiliating and nauseating to the whole ethnic group.

My personal opinion,
Nobody will take Pro-Biafrans (not pro-Nigerians) serious in Nigeria. How can Ojukwu fight a war against a country and YET want to lead that same countryhuh He is still there collecting pension as a Nigerian veteran. I know REAL men die for what they believe in, not run away to come back and be fed by your "enemies". The so-called Abiola and co that you were expecting the WHOLE RACE to fight for, DIED for what they believed was right!!! And that is how it is meant to be.

You do not die in an ill-planned war and call yourselves "brave"! No, to the outside world, trust me, you do not want to know their views on such acts. How can someone that ran away only to come back and start getting pension be a martyrhuh Its only in Nigeria you will hear such . . . . .

Another Flawed statement by Ezeuche!!!
Okay, here we go: undecided

How can you say the nation should have been dissolvedhuh Is it when ONLY Igbos are unsatisfied, then it should be dissolvedhuh That is a very selfish statement because I can remember that Awolowo and Bello (West and North) NEVER wanted to be part of Nigeria.
Awolowo even said that a clause should be in the constitution that will allow any group that wants to secede to go. Zik said NO!!
Awolowo was the ONLY one that voted against "ONE NIGERIA" even Bello was reluctant.

What about Adaka Borohuh Did Nigeria allow ND to secedehuh NO. So why should they allow Biafrahuh

Again, you are not serious. Learn to be objective!

Katsumoto:
Another misconception with certain Igbo people is that they do not really understand why the Civil war was fought.

1. Gowon promulgated decree 8 in 1967 which gave Ojukwu 90% of what he desired at Aburi but Ojukwu rejected it insisting on every demand being met.

2. Nigeria was created based on the desires of certain Igbo sons despite the objections of Bello and Awo. On that principle alone, certain individuals were bent on ensuring that the East remained with Nigeria.

3. In 1957, at the consitutional conference in London, Obafemi Awolowo suggested to Zik that a secession clause be inserted into the Nigerian constitution but Zik rejected it.

Zik and Igbo gave birth to Nigeria, rejected secession clause, lost out in a power play with Bello and Akintola, organised a coup killing everyone else but their own and then wanted to leave when it didnt go their way. I have said it before and I will say it again, certain Igbo sons believe that other Nigerians are not sharp.
A very solid point. But, I think Azikwe was possessed or something to reject that amendment!!!
Although, Nigerians see it as an Igbo rejection NOT Azikwe's rejection.
