Hello Jayfirece, have ypu tried sending a case specific enquiry? Also, mail them at Accra that's if you applied online.

There is no harm in trying after all it's been more than the required days. All the best.
Done that. CIC said they've forwarded the enquiry to the responsible Dept. Will wait another two weeks before another mail to Accra. I nor hurry again. The vacation don pass. Thank God I used flight itinerary otherwise my money for don get small gbejero eye.

Hello house, got my passport back today. Got one year tho passport expires 2019. All the same, I'm glad. Wish everyone still waiting on CIC good news.
Congrats! Mine is exactly 90days old today and I've been greeted with the usual monthly "there has been no updates to your application since you last checked"

Not really pining and waiting. Just curious. Curious about everything including this 12 digit UCI when dey my biometric letter so.

Anyways best of luck!

Oga, is VFS same as CIC?. I'm concerned about CIC here and not VFS. Read the portion of my comment that you highlighted for more. VFS would only acknowledge the receipt of your biometric details and that doesn't mean the CIC has done the matching same day...and if the CIC sends you an email on your biometric, it will NEVER be same day you did your biometrics at vfs because the latter will have to transmit your biometric to the CIC first, electronically before they(CIC) can send you their own acknowledgement . This is based on my experience and that of many here and I stand to be corrected on this. I won't argue with you but it's very wrong for you to just say one is entirely wrong when you don't seem to understand how some things work. At least I've been issued TRV visas more than 4 consecutive times in the past and I've tried both the paper route and the online applications, same as my siblings and cousins. We share experience based on the kind of emails and information they receive from CIC when they make enquiries about their delayed applications. I have 2 of them who are already studying there. If you don't understand something, you simply ask questions. Nobody also knows it all so, it is not enough to just condemn a vital information provided by someone else and say it's entirely wrong. In most cases, I decline to reply to comments like yours because of this 'I too know mentality' but I think it's important I let you know this too. Thank you.
Awelekiti, calm down. CIC updated my biometrics online same day I did it and I also got a text from VFS.

Hello house, does anyone know how long it actually takes after dropping off passport at vfs and getting it back. I just want to know if this vacation is still possible. Thank you.
I read online that you should allow around 10 business days or 2 weeks. My own vacation have passed so am believing i'll still get it by God's grace so that i can combine it with my next year's vacation trip to uncle sam's.

Congrats. As for me I just got a mail from CIC after 9 days of sending the enquiry.

@awelekiti thanks for the encouragement. Let's watch as it unravels.

I wish I joined nairaland before submitting my documents. I will send a reminder email again now. It is actually frustrating.
Same thing with me. Submitted via online and did biometrics since May 19th 2016. Sent an enquiry to CIC as regards to my visit visa application but no response yet.

They should try and be as straightforward as the US. You know your fate at the interview once and for all. Canada hide hide too much. So tay for you to get the specifics for refusal you need to pay money again for GCMS notes.

Are you not the one that did the ONLINE application yourself? They are talking of the portal from which you did. Log in and check from there, VFS can't. The next time they will be of help to you on this your application will be if and when you are asked via your CIC account to forward your passport or anything else to the embassy, that is all.
Thanks. There's a CIC enquiry form I saw online. Will use that

Hi all,

Applied for visit visa through online means on 14th May 2016. Did biometrics on 19th May 2016 and status changed from "we need the applicants biometrics" to "not needed at this time" Since then all has gone quiet.

Will contact VFS to know the status of my application I guess.
Contacted VFS and they requested my tracking ID. After checking they said I should check my CiC account for updates. Not exactly sure what that means.

Hello Jayfierce,

Sorry that we missed your question the first time. That's a good question. We encourage you to sit with your mom to complete the form together, as the application is a statement regarding her background, so applicants should always strive to complete it truthfully and completely. For the elderly, the application may be confusing and long, so it would be a help to her. There is a section at the end that asks who helped with the form, so ensure that you complete that section.

Regards,

Abuja NIV
Thanks a lot abujaniv. Was trying to find out if she needed the I-134 form. Turns out she didn't. She got the visa. Thanks for making her smile.

PoliticsRe: EL-RUFAI NEW LAWS : In Kaduna You Cannot Preach Without License. by jayfierce(m): 6:28pm On Mar 06, 2016
americanigga:
How I wish this is true. It would be the best thing that has ever happend to this country. Both christianity and islam are becoming nuisance in this country- is either muslims and christians are fighting, or pastors are extorting money from their members, giving fake prophesies, buying private jet. The church is all about money, miracle, money, miracle.

Anywhere you go preaching here and there, you put on tv to watch good program, you will meet preaching, inspict of that we are still the most corrupt country in the world.

In our university 60% of the students are graduating with 3rd class, because they no longer read their books, they have been told that to pass exam is spiritual- sowing of seed and fasting and prayer. At the end of the day the result is spillover, pass and 3rd class.

Nigerians are becoming very lazy. They don't want to work, they are waiting for God. Just a little problem that we can solve, we run to pastor. Most of us think pastors are our friend, but we are wrong. Pastors especially prophets are like people selling coffin (casket), they unintentionally wish their members to have problem so that they( their member) will go to them(prophet) who will inturn collect money in the name of sowing. In a nutshell the more the problem the more pastors smile to the bank.

I want other state to emulate kaduna state. They should banned religious program on tv and all public places. Anybody that preaches to sombody without the consent of that person should be arrested.

Because of christianity there is no love in our society anymore. Daughter inlaw against mother inlaw. Infact, most girls nowadays wish to marry boys without mother. This problem started with women looking for children and they go to pastors for prayers. Even when the pastor did not see anything he will say thier mother inlaw is responsible for their inability to bear children.

Most religions are good but the way we practice it is the problem. I know what I am saying cos I am a christian.
So you are saying christianity is the cause of most of the problems in this country? Do you know the good Christianity has done for Nigeria? Even if the fakes give Christianity a bad name, it happens everywhere. It's like saying to ban Nigerians from going abroad because a few are fraudulent. Do you know the positive impact a couple of Nigerians make abroad. So because your pastor said you will succeed in your exams and you carry your lazy self go sleep it becomes his fault?

Funny you say you are a Christian. I'm surprised that you've never met Christians who make impact in this country. It's sad that you a Christian has lost faith in your people and your God's ability to turn things around. It is well.
PoliticsRe: El-rufai New Laws In Kaduna by jayfierce(m): 12:05pm On Mar 05, 2016
gbosaa:
El Rufai is being proactive. Preachers can be very annoying, early morning noises from megaphones and micro phones constitute nuisance. Some would bang on your doors and windows for those living in shared houses and compounds trying to force people out to worship. Some people work at nights only to come back home in the morning to sleep but the preachers wouldn't allow you to have peace and quiet. When these people complain, they are branded witches, wizards, enemies of progress and all sorts.

There should be fairness in the implementation though. I do hope that the early morning calls from the sound systems mounted on the mosques would be affected too.

Blocking and disruption of traffic flow for religious reasons should be looked into and stopped.

There should be some regulation in the use of buildings for preachings. Noise from public address systems should be regulated especially in residential areas. It's a nightmare to live close to any of those people who use warehouses, flats and other open spaces to preach. You can't even hear yourself talking or having conversation with someone in your own house.
What you are saying does not call for such stringent measures. Other states simply banned the use of horn speakers and relocated churches out of residential areas.
BusinessRe: Class Action Suit Against Gtbank For Misleading 199/$ Card Charges by jayfierce(m):
I agree. Use all available legal means to stop this nonsense. You can sue them if you feel you have a case. Dicuss with your lawyers first and determine the way forward. Most banks will gladly settle out of court to avoid the public scandal. Also if you go to court and win, Gtbank will be the one to pay your legal fees but court cases take a while and it takes a toll on your resources.

Please start gradually. I advise everyone involved to send a mail and cc who you need to. Cc ur lawyer in the mail. These mails will prove correspondence with gtbank. Explain the inconvenience their "banking error" has caused you etc. Let the correspondence run for a while before you take the next step.

Gtbank once provoked me to almost sue them. I went through pains to deactivate sms alerts years back. Only for me to to recently withdraw some money from the ATM and a prompt came up that my phone number is not in their system. I was shocked. Anyways computer nor dey lie so I updated my phone number and they asked if I wanted sms alert. Then I saw the fraud and promptly clicked NO. Lo and behold sms alerts started rolling in.

For two months they could not undo it inspite the several calls and office visits and emails. More scam. I promptly told them that if they charge me for the sms alerts without any evidence of me clicking yes, then it would result in a suit. I finally told them to delete my number from the system which solved the issue or so they said. No sms charge till today. Dem no born dem.

Same thing with airtel. Sent them mails severally to remove my line from postpaid. Went to the office to fill a form too. After 4 months I sent a final mail and did the necessary CC. I gave them 3 days to undo it. In 24hrs my line commot for postpaid. Dem no born dem.

With my store charge about 50usd. I've tried all possible means to pay. But all my cards were declined, from my Africard to my UBA and firstbank mastercard. Now my Africard is blocked. Yesterday and today i managed to borrow a credit card loaded it and paid . The deductions were made on the card. But no reflections on my account. I hope it will be updated and i might be happy.
I think you could have paid in Naira by changing your currency at the top of the page to Naira. Banks have stopped the use of Naira MasterCard for transactions involving FX.

We appreciate your interest in our shopping and shipping services.
Just like every other business customers are quick to share stories when they are grieved more than they are happy, despite that a lot of our customers who have seen these stories on Nairaland have tried us and attested that they find us viable compared to things they read here, as well as cheaper when compared to major carriers who provide quality services like our.
We can assure you that you will have a better experience has we have put a lot in place to serve our customers better. I've had challenges while shipping with STMD but overall it has been worth it. I encourage all to give STMD a try.

Can we have your detail (order/Unit number) to enable us lookinto this? Thank you
You can see the feedback from customers so it's not a "thing" with me alone. You could just improve on the grey areas to avoid having to solve the same issues over and over again.

Not everyone takes to social media to voice out complaints.
BusinessRe: What Is Your Experience With Shoptomydoor by jayfierce(m): 1:42pm On Dec 05, 2015
I previously highlighted the benefits of using Shoptomydoor to ship items from the U.S. I would also like to highlight areas of improvement based on my shipping experience with the U.S Warehouse:

Shipping Preference & Consolidation: I've noticed some small items that could have been consolidated were shipped as separate packages. At other times, i needed to ship items to multiple locations but Shoptomydoor consolidated those items in the warehouse making it difficult to ship to multiple locations or leave some items behind. Going forward, the shipper should be able to choose what items are to be shipped through the use of a "selector button" or a "radio button" incorporated in the warehouse. The warehouse [website] can also be upgraded to calculate the weight and shipping cost of the items that have been selected for shipping.

Invoicing: This area needs serious work! Some packages arrive without invoice and Shoptomydoor immediately assigns an estimated value of the item before you even have the opportunity to update the values. Even when an invoice is uploaded, there's a slight chance that it will be looked at unless of course you send emails or place calls to Shoptomydoor. For me as a shipper I've resolved to discuss with the store to see if they could attach the invoice to my package before shipping to Shoptomydoor to avoid this hassle.

Warehouse Updating: Slow. Shoptomydoor says your warehouse unit will be updated within 24hrs and they actually mean it! From personal experience, they maximize the 24hr window before updating packages. As a result, packages are usually updated the next day business day or so after being received. Again i adjusted by ensuring packages get to the Warehouse latest Wednesday to give allowance for the "Maximum time" to update the Warehouse on Thursday before finally paying for shipping on Friday.

Customer Care: If it's an issue they can solve easily you will get an automated email, another email that the issue is being looked into, and a possible third email that the issue has been solved. If they can't solve it timely then you'll find yourself on the follow up train constantly calling and mailing to find out about the status of your request. Truthfully, the time difference (U.S.) also contributes to the time it takes to solve an issue. If for instance you contact customer care in Nigeria at 9 A.M about an item in the warehouse (U.S.) they have to wait till the warehouse team resumes about 7hrs later because of the time difference. This makes issue resolution slow and bureaucratic.

Conclusion: I've shipped over 10 packages from the U.S through Shoptomydoor this year and i can tell that as a logistics firm, they have some challenges with logistics. I also believe these challenges can be overcome with proper management. I know that efficiency and accuracy is not cheap but a little addition here and there would improve the overall quality of services being offered by Shoptomydoor. I see Shoptomydoor as one of our young growing firms, and as one of our own, its needs to be nurtured and not tortured to reach its pinnacle.

Hello Everyone,

Thanks to the encouragements of this wonderful house I was able to visit the UK and return in April 2015 after 3 weeks holiday.

I need some advice again, my 6months visa has expired and I was thinking of applying for two years. It's targeted at saving cost and reducing stress due to frequent visits to the embassies i.e every 6 months.

I don't know if they will consider it because I heard they prefer to issue 6months visa for visits. Also I hear they've included medical fees for visas above 6months.

Thanks for the help!

Hello everyone, I just got a 6 months visit visa and I initially planned on staying just a week at a hotel in London. Now I want to stay longer Like up to three weeks and I want to start with Manchester before going to London. ‎

Will this cause problems for me i.e be denied entry on suspicious grounds? Will it affect future applications if they check and see that I didnt follow what I wrote down on my application form?

Thanks a lot for your help!
