There is hardly an atheist who cannot engage a theist on his own understanding. This is where you get it wrong. Most atheists have examined things for themselves and that is why they are the way you are. You like calling Dawkins et al. For your sake, I hope they repent and adopt your faith. @frosbel, these "Holy Books" were originally conceived as a tool for Social Guidance and Personal (Spiritual) Improvement.

It is obvious (with the benefit of hindsight) from history that the Bible and its Characters, much like ancient societies centuries before it are just one recycled Religion that changes ever so slightly as it spreads through culture/tradition when selfish Men of God turned it into a tool for social control. The Bible is very fragile. and needs a lot of straw to hold it up

There actually might be fewer christians if there was no tithe and offering. Do not undermine the slave mentality of the people. Also their docile attitudes (a primary reason why we are the way we are as a nation).

Lots of christians feel assured as long as they pay their tithes. Robbers pay tithes, fraudsters too too. In short the scum of the earth, they pay tithes and offering, often buying the pastors expensive gifts. More than a few of them feel that they are safe fulfilling these exploitative rituals.

Compare Paul and the apostles especially James. Paul taught that as long as you believe in Jesus, you are safe without more. James taught that you had to actually be a good person to receive eternal life and that belief itself was not enough. James's teaching was in tandem with the teachings of Jesus (consider the sermon on the mount, consider the saying of Jesus that not everyone who calls him Lord will enter the kingdom of God).

Comparing these two doctrines, which is more popular ? The one by Paul of course. We are humans and we will tend to seek the path of least resistance. Its easier to pay tithes and pretend to believe some imaginary story than to actually love our fellow man. How many Pastor worshipping SOBs have done anything for the poor or for motherless babies ?

The tithing and offering thing is an easy way to deaden your conscience and delude yourself in perpetuity. Its sad, but it is what it is.

Funny that Frosbel ignores all the p.o.r.n in the bible. The term "onanism" comes from where ?

The Unicorn is a mythical creature. For dinosaurs and Dodos, we have fossil evidence. For Unicorns we have none. There is documentation of the Dodo, by people who were living in times when it wasnt extinct.

I dont think so. I know of certain people who pull out bible verses to justify the presence of dinasaurs (though they are wrong). There is evidence for Dinosaurs and none for Unicorns. We digress, lets settle the issue of talking animals in the books. Thats more important.

The bible has talking snakes and donkeys. The bible has mythical creatures like unicorns and Satyrs. How rational, consistent with reason and verifiable is that ?
Since these are not true, Christianity cant be true either.

There are many other points/issues but I prefer to dwell on these.

The forefathers founded the nation and principles on solid Christian values. America was a corporate entity built from the ground up with unshakeable Christian Foundations.

Why do you spend so much catering for the sick when leaving them to die will take them to heaven (which is supposed to be the most awesome place ever) ? Why do you spend so much on doctors and medicine when the bible has asked you to take the sick to church for the elders to lay hands on ?

Why do we keep sustaining life of those being spent in poverty, sickness etc when it all a product of chance (not a product of a maker as you claim), can't we end it all and be at peace by returning all to the state of a non-existence

Apart from that, how come you dont see the problem in asking a set of people who do not believe that life continues after death why they try to sustain their life ?
Ironically those who believe eternal bliss awaits them on death are very reluctant to die and do not even follow biblical prescriptions for sickness.

@Frosbel, can you adapt your write up for the Nigerian market ? Especially the tithing part. Not all Pastors do the book/business/ multi level marketing scam.
However exploiting the flock for tithe is almost a universal issue and is certainly widespread in Nigeria.
Can you advice those people who are being exploited through tithes (including students with no income apart from their pocket money).
I'll be watching out for it and I may print it and give to certain folks who need advice.
