This is what l have been saying all along. It is time we focus on policy formulation than the hit and run strategy of our ex leaders.
Imaging the rest of the government before this put up a good policy to drive the economy. We would have been far ahead as giant of Africa.
But no, we want it now now. Are we building thatch house or skyscraper?
This is the first Nigerian government with go economic policy and strategy. |

I ask
What step did he take to see that if he leave the presidency, his legacy will be maintained?
What policy did he put in place to this effect?

Adminisher: This is the problem with Jonathan and his supporters. The context were different. This was a military regime, we squandered our freedom during the civilian regime of Buhari through corruption and election rigging.
Very rich people owned newspapers and were controlling discourse. Please tell me what is freedom of information when Abiola, Aboderin and Awolowo' family owned the major newspapers. What is freedom in that. First of all it means the whole country was under information dictatorship from rich Yoruba businessmen. I am Yoruba and I know what I am talking about. So it is a little amateurish to talk of FOI under military regimes and even more to PRAISE Jonathan for what is just accepting global best practices. Almost all African countries have FOI now and they can't help it any way in th internet and social media age you don't get a prize for doing FOI.
Buhari never nationalised newspapers which was what some countries with military dictatorships did. Also the number of articles criticizing governments were very many and nobody was letter bombed as happened during the time of IBB whose coup address speech formed the basis of Jonathan's campaign today at Enugu When l talk of FOI l was trying to let you see how policy work. But you chose to see what you wanted and to pull me to follow your track. Which policy did buhari institute? Do you know what the size of our economy would have been if he formed a policy that encouraged the textile industry? |

All these were for a short time to get local manufacturing installed for all consumer goods. Why Africa is backward is because we don't have good policy not because we are not doing the right thing. The government then did not want progress that is while they did not back their action with good policy. Let me ask you, if the president did not sign the freedom of information bill, will Nigerian know this much about government? Will we be criticising government at will? This is good government policy. They didn't give it to us because they no the disadvantage on them. |

Owerri – The Presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Mohammadu Buhari, has said that insecurity and corruption are the major problems militating against the development of Nigeria as a nation and promised to tackle the menace, if elected president on Feb. 14.
Buhari said this when he paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo at the Government House, Owerri on Wednesday.
He called on the Igbos to support APC, saying that one of the objectives of his government, if elected, was to secure the country and efficiently manage it. He said that, if voted into power, his administration would decisively deal with terrorism, kidnapping and corruption at all levels.
On economy, Buhari decried the alarming rate of inflation in the country and wondered how local businesses could survive with the rate of exchange of Naira to Dollar.
He, therefore, promised to improve on the economy. “In 1984 as the military head of state, I refused to devalue the Naira, refused to remove subsidy on petroleum products. “We equally made an undertaken to meet our obligation on foreign debt – medium and long term. All these we did within the period we were in power.” Earlier, Gov. Okorocha lauded Gen. Buhari for his zero tolerance to corruption as well as his vision for Nigeria. He requested, among other things, that a fair share of political positions be allotted to the South-East as well as creation of an additional state to make for equity and fairness among the six geo-political zones of the country.
He also requested for the upgrading of the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport to an International Airport as well as the rehabilitation of Enugu – Onitsha Road, Enugu – Port Harcourt Road, and Aba –Ikot Ekpene Road, among others, if elected.
“My General, I ask for nothing but these few things and I know you can do it. But for the votes, my people will give you their vote,” he said. APC Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Sen. Chris Ngige and other national leaders of the party accompanied Buhari during the visit.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/01/military-head-state-refused-devalue-naira-buhari/ How will he tackle inflation? If we must move forward me should be asking, "how will you". No import dependent nation can tackle inflation, ask Zimbabwe. |

MalcoImX: God will bless you for setting the records straight. It was the civilian regime of Shehu Shagari that destroyed the economy to the extent that you can't find basic commodities like soap, milk, foodstuffs, etc. in the markets. There was hoarding for the little that was available. Buhari did the right thing by identifying those warehouses that hoard, forced them open and sold the commodities at government controlled prices. People queued to buy those essential commodities. That was what Jonathan meant by he queued overnight to get milk. The part he didn't tell us was, the scarcity was caused by Shagari's regime, and people were grateful to Buhari for taking the measures he did. The scarcity was not caused by shagari but by the government that did not empower the people to be productive but look up to the government for daily needs. If the manufacturers of those goods were in Nigeria would the goods be hauded? Almost all the goods were imported. What did the government the do in form of policy to attract investors? |

As for Car Manufacturing I want to cry when I hear your display of ignorance. Car assembly and partial manufacturing was a well developed sector in Nigeria when Jonathan was still just a poor university graduate. Nigeria was making Peugeot and Volkswagen cars with progressive value adds up to 30%. Indeed PAN in Kaduna s still exporting cars to the west African region. Jonathan did not do anything new in encouraging car production and that is a grouse I have with the architect of th policy Aganga who has not methodically supported value chain diagram to ensure that the intermediate products that go into cars are also available locally. All he has said is that the manufacturer will bring in his supply chain. Pipe dream. How many Nigerian government officials and agencies used Nigerian assembled cars then? What incentive did our government give them to make them fight go remain with us? This government has made import of these car unattractive. This is how you know a government who is serious with both job creation and local initiative economic empowerment. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Tithing Rightly, The Law And Christ by jdilight(op): 1:53pm On Nov 03, 2014 |
THE LAW AND CHRIST
Mathew 5:17, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."
The word destroy means to damage beyond use, to put down.
The word fulfil means to satisfy, carry out, bring to completion. To obey, follow, comply with.
From the aforementioned, Jesus was saying " I did not come to put and end to the law, or the prophet: I came to carry it out, obey it".
Jesus came to show us how to obey the law as an example, then died: his blood serving as a cleanser to clean us from sins we have committed before we came to the knowledge of how to obey the law.
THE LAW
The law is divided into: MORAL LAWS AND SACRIFICIAL LAWS
The moral law teaches man how to live peaceably with his neighbor, while the sacrificial law handle the atonement in case of failure to obey the moral law. The sacrificial law was made for the moral law and not the moral law for the sacrificial law. The moral law came before the sacrificial law, because there must be a failure of the moral law before the sacrificial law can come in. If the moral law is not broken, the sacrificial law is dormant/not effective.
Because man didn't know how to obey the moral laws, sacrificial laws seems to have over taken the moral law. People now sees sacrifice as bigger than obedience. This ignorance is what caused Saul the throne of Israel.
The sacrifice with animal blood could not take away sin. It covered the sin, this is the second reason for Christ come. To give his blood as a ransom for washing away our sin. There is a misconception that the blood of Jesus stops us from sinning. No! it doesn't. It cleanses us from sin. What make us stop sinning is learning from Jesus how he overcame. He said, "learn of me". I have the secret, " it is necessary that a servant be like his master". A servant only become like his master through learning. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Tithing Rightly, The Law And Christ by jdilight(op): 1:06pm On Nov 03, 2014 |
JESUS TEACHING ON TITHE
Many has asked, "where did Jesus say we should tithe?"
Mathew 23:23, " Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
The above statement is an affirmation of tithing by Jesus. Jesus critisied the scribes and Pharisees for tithing the smallest of their products ( mint and anise and cummin) not because it was not good or made away with, no! but because, they overlooked the foundation of the law. Jesus was saying do the weightier things first, then come and do this by saying, "these ought ye to have done, and not leave the OTHER UNDONE". Mathew 23:26 made it clearer.
THE WEIGHTIER MATTER OF THE LAW
There are two school of thought about the effectiveness of the law as relate to our time.
One is of the opinion that has been made away with the death of Christ on the cross.
The other is of the opinion that a part of the law is still very much effective while a part was made away with the death of Christ.
I will by the Spirit of God expand this issue for better comprehension.
There are weightier matters of the law. The weightier matters of the law is what makes the less weightier matters acceptable to God. Without the weightier matters of the law in place, the less weightier matters of the law doesn't matter. The weightier matters of the law makes us insiders. Outsiders cannot partake of it. It is were the secret of who we are is. It cannot be copied. |

WHY DO WE CHRISTIANS SHOW APPRECIATION TO OUR GOD THROUGH TITHE?
I once told someone,"if the reason why you worship God is blessing/heaven, your a fraudulent worshiper". I have not still change my position on this. A true worshiper, is a lover. He/she is a lover of God. In my cause of studying the bible I came to understand one fact. "Every outstanding personality in the bible was a lover of God".
WHO IS A LOVER
A lover is a person who does anything to please the loved. Someone who will go out of his/her way to please you without expecting a reward is a lover. We misunderstand lust to be love. Lust has a reason to do what it does, love doesn't. Love appreciates one for who he/she is not what they can get out of them. Love is not a talking, but a doer. The proof of love is action not words.
PROOF OF LOVE
The proof of love is in action not in confession. Abraham proved his love to God by losing his nationality to a country he knew nothing about (Genesis 12:1). Joseph proved his love for God by going to prison rather than defile himself with portiphar's wife (Gen. 38). Moses proved his love to God by losing his place in the royal house of Egypt (Gen. 2:11-15). Who will I name and who will I leave?
God proved His love to us by giving us His Son (John 3:16). Jesus himself proved his love to us by giving himself up to die for us (John 15:13).
Know one who truly love God, that will overlook the smallest thing that will promote Gods kingdom. It is love that drives us to give/ obey God, not what we then to gain. |
