sexkillz:I don't even know sef. ![]() hey cutie @ rokiatu, what kind of conversation were you two having that prompted him to ask you if you are a cheat? ![]() and what led you answer with a joke? ![]() can u give us d full story here. lol |

I see what u mean. I know igbos have a special "egusi soup" recipe that's igbo. yorubas also have special "egusi soup" "obe egusi" that's yoruba. but the word egusi itself is yoruba. |
The name maybe, a bit doubtful since its also named egusi in Twi. The Egusi soup is not yoruba. http://books.google.com/books?id=1s-a7EMM6BgC&pg=PA13&dq=Egusi+igbo&hl=en&ei=vIXNTtWhJ4Xn0QHl-NQX&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CD4Q6AEwAjgK#v=onepage&q=Egusi%20igbo&f=false
stop quoting a book that was published in 2005! you can't compare it to one written in 1857 about yorubas. and besides the recent book you quoted said only "westernized igbos" used the word. aka they lived in lagos. lol egusi is most certainly a yoruba word. |
nonsense and ingredient!! ![]() why should I be explaining "baba dudu" to a whole yoruba like you ![]() pikins of nowadays. see his username sef. |
downcasted:AMEN. and may God also grant you your |
odumchi, you are confusing d definition of culture here. culture is always influx. tradition is passed on from one generation to d next. Americans or Europeans didn't wear jeans (pants) 200 years ago. But jeans are now markedly a part of western culture. it has also been passed down enough generations that they can be considered a western traditional wear. I think Ileke-idi made it clear that more flamboyant gele is part of modern yoruba culture. I'll put this to the fact that the (mostly imported) material used to make gele nowadays has more flexibility/malleability than the locally woven thick fabric (aso oke) used previously by our ancestors. So there is lots of opportunity for creativity with the modern gele. check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FI-xfeCrRf8 |
chic2pimp:rotfl is that so? ![]() |
what can I say. Yorubanization of Igboland. ![]() |
Andre Uweh:yea |
aww Babe! you are cute. but you are too tinrin jo. |
^^^^@scholes I found the picture from a Nigerian website, it was listed as Yoruba. Pele if it's not Yoruba. It gladly supports my claim that Sudano-Sahelian attire spread throughout West Africa and noone beside them can claim agbada. If it makes you feel any better, you can replace that picture with this one for comparison. Posted by Ileke-idi herself. https://wysinger.homestead.com/5.jpg Carry on with who created Gele or not arguments, I just heard my name and i wanted to clear somethings out. Oya out I go.
definitely yoruba. that's the ooni of ife to the far left. |
ezeagu:yup. that's yoruba business attire. ![]() wedding attire on the other hand is more |
none of these governors will dress like that to a yoruba event. |
NRI PRIEST:fashola was attending a non-yoruba event (he donated a creche to a catholic church in lagos). so he had to dress appropriately. It still has a yoruba look. but more subtle more pics: |
NRI PRIEST:yoruba people call head tie "ibori" "gele" is a special kind of ibori that is more flamboyant. usually made with stiffer material (woven aso-oke, damask etc) that can hold up the elaborate styles. |
