Politics / Re: Ghana Cuts Fuel Subsidies, Fuel Rises To N184 Per Litre by Jenifa1: 9:56pm On Jan 01, 2012
Reuters reports that Ghana, which joined the club of oil producers in West Africa last year, has come under increased pressure from the International Monetary Fund to remove the fuel subsidies. The IMF has urged countries across West and Central Africa to cut fuel subsidies, which they say arenot effective in directly aiding the poor, [b] but do promote corruption and smuggling.
The past months have seen governments in Nigeria, Guinea, Cameroon and Chad moving to cut state subsidies on fuel.

i thought so
Politics / Re: Ghana Cuts Fuel Subsidies, Fuel Rises To N184 Per Litre by Jenifa1: 9:43pm On Jan 01, 2012
that's messed up.
how can a country use fuel money to subsidize fuel. does that even make sense to anyone?
otherwise, where is the subsidy money coming from?

seems more like a price hike to me.
Romance / Re: 99-year-old Man Divorcing 97 year-old Wife Due To 1940s Affair by Jenifa1: 2:39am On Jan 01, 2012
@inked-nerd,

when you are near your deathbed. the pain of divorce is enough.
@ 97 yrs of age what is he going to do if he finds out his 5 children, 12 grandchildren and great grand child are not his? commit suicide?

the divorce I'm sure is to spite the wife and make her suffer (a bit understandable. but not something I would do). but paternity test is pointless. unless he's trying to punish himself and children.

Repubocrat:

I am going to have to disagree.    Btw, what's up with the Ageism from some on this thread? undecided

The man is simply sticking to common principles, and I'll add that demanding a paternity test would be a fairly logical subsequent step considering the fact that she kept the secret for so long, and only confessed after she got caught. The results of the test will most likely not alter his relationship with the children, but it could justify his decision to get a divorce if the results are unfavorable.

this makes no sense whatsoever.
the results WILL alter his relationship with his children, grandchildren and grandchild.

the man has suffered enough plz. It's already bad enough that he found the love letters. I bet he is wishing he had never opened that drawer pandora's box in the first place. why do you want him to open another can of worms.
77yrs of marriage. man. his life will never b the same again. definitely will grief till death. but i'm sure the divorce is his way of retaliation. that was pure wickedness on his wife's part.

^what are you yarning.

history can not be told as plain fact. otherwise, it won't be history. it will be statistics. it won't make a story
I think that is the first thing any history teacher will tell his students.

history is ALWAYS an interpretation of factual events. at least that's what it's supposed to be.
and of course a bigoted igbo man like you will have a very interesting interpretation as always.

There are facts everywhere in Nigeria about how Northern Nigerians killed other Nigerians (Igbos mainly) over things they know nothing about. One can count about 30 -50 of such riots in Northern Nigeria.

several decades later, igbos are still flocking to the riotous north. I wonder why
they will rather die than relocate to the SE
so what's your concern?

The Jews returned to land and were aided by the Government. Where have you provided for the millions to stay? How have you arranged for food? How have you arranged for their kids to be assimilated into schools?

The idea of everyone coming home is utopian and we all wish it could happen but the only way it can work is if there is a conference and subsequent agreement by the different Nations in Nigeria to stay apart, then funds can be made available for such a purpose.
The federal government cannot make provision of funds for that purpose as the Isrealis so the two situations are different. The funds needed for such resettlement would be huge and I doubt any state government can handle it.

why go all the way to Israel when we have several examples close to home. Ghana must Go is one good one (Nigerians were also removed from Ghana prior who had lived in Ghana all their lives)

the federal government did not help you relocate to the north. so why should federal govt help you move back down south to your papa's village? even if Federal govt help them move back down south. most will still find their way back there within weeks. I tell you it's greed.

maybe the govt should just force them down south like Ghana must Go. but most will resist for sure.

they keep going up there and finding ways to replenish their population there. even with all the killings that has been going on for decades.
it's a choice I guess. but undeserving of my pity if they choose to do it with full knowledge of the risk involved.
Politics / Re: Southern Christains Flee Northern Nigerian Cities by Jenifa1: 6:13am On Dec 28, 2011

These people were mostly born there. There parents were most likely born there and have been living there for decades. They have built homes and businesses there. Do you think its easy to just up and leave?

Its not the same as people who have family in the south and just decide to seek employment up North.  Those in that category wont waste time to relocate back to the south and in fact, most have. But the Situation of the first group, is difficult. Where do they stay, what do they do? What happens to things they built with their families over the decades?

this makes no sense. If I was born in Japan and the Japanese decided to start killing Nigerians, will I stay in Japan because I was "born" there?
that's foolish. I will relocate ASAP. I love my life.

to me, it's greed that's keeping the igbos (and other southerners) up north. nothing else. they risk their lives for greed!!
I know I pity them but let's use common sense here.

Virtuous women are plenty just go to the right places e. g SU churches and stop looking for the girls in the club.

haha good advice.
men, there are no virtuous women in the nite clubs. find your way to deeper life. virgins abound there.
shld be common sense
