Whenever I recharge my better talk account, MTN will make sure the major recharge is deducted without any form of notice or reason why it was so even if I haven't made any call. while the bonus would still be available for use. I've considered MTN as my favourite network but they got me losing the trust in them last weekend.

I ran out of data and call-time so i decided to activate an affordable plan that covers Browsing and Calling.

After dialling *142*30*3# which was assigned to my sim, i got 50MB+ 5Mins for #50 Only Valid for 24Hrs.
I was so pleased with this but to my surprise i could only use the 5mins only, the 50 Megabyte wasnt browsing till it expired.

Thank God i didnt activate that of greater amount. Will never try such plan again.

Are you also using the bundle of *142#? Ever regretted buying a data bundle? Share ur story!!!

It takes one event to make someone angry enough to fight back and this was it. Yesterday I got the above message from MTN and I felt a sense of real outrage. It was the cheeky Enjoy at the end of the message that made me snap so I decided to fight back.

It is pathetic that I never even signed up for that service. If I did, I assure you that I was tricked into doing so. MTN sends out this messages that eclipse the whole of your phone and once you try to exit it you could be signed up for any service of their choice.

Since the NCC decided to slam MTN with a fine, MTN has decided that the best way to raise the money is to live off the land.

As a company they have always repatriated their profits back to South Africa so they have decided to keep the money in South Africa and raise the amount for the fine from Nigerians.

I was never in those rooms when MTN “settled” people to enter Nigeria. I am a simple teacher who would love to live in peace but like MKO Abiola said, I don’t want the peace of the graveyard.

Today its N50 and we say nothing. I could revoke the message because I knew how to use my phone. The way the law of averages goes, MTN knows that some Nigerians will be unable to cancel the service.

It is this set of Nigerians that will be robbed. MTN has a company has roots in South Africa. The blacks in South Africa were robbed for MTN to exist. Now they have come to Nigeria to do the same. The other networks are no better so I don’t endorse any of them.

It isn’t a fight I think I can win but for too long in my life, I have held my peace and watched while the world went to shit and this is how it always starts. I come from a tribe that has a saying: "Even a cripple can destroy work." So I have decided to do something about this.

The history of my people teaches me that the only deterrent to attack is the thought of a Pyrrhic victory. Nations who had a reputation for being formidable in battle were rarely attacked and that is the reason for this post. The N50 that was collected for me yesterday will cost the company at least N5,000 in goodwill.

Let the little sin go and the sinner gets bolder.

I received a message on 18th (Sat) that my subscription to product VSF BB Unlimited BES Staff 2gb would expire on Monday, today 20th June. I ignored cause I know I didn't subscribe to such plan. Lo and Behold, on Monday morning, all connections weren't going. I realised my data had expired. I wondered how it was possible for me to exhaust 2gb in 1week without downloading anything on a bold 5, when I make use of the same in 2weeks if I was actively downloading. I called CC and was told I had exhausted my bbc data. I asked that the breakdown of how the it was used be explained and the lady said. I spent almost 5gb data on the 16th (thurs). I asked how on earth it was possible for me to spend 5gb on a particular day without downloading esp when i'm on a 2gb plan. she was numb and said all she could say was that I had exhausted my data. substituting BES which I know nothin of for bbc? I say NO to this criminal act and request that mtn rectified this issue asap. 08130909890

This is something I just don't understand in this country. I don't know where else to report or complain about this MTN frequent extortions from MTN.

I'm now scared of leaving or recharging credit on my phone. it all started with MTN backup, afro beat and caller tune deductions. Whenever I recharge they would keep deducting the money till I have nothing left. I've called the customer care severely about it but all they keep telling me was that they're sorry, that they have canceled it yet after some days they start again. I had to go to there twitter page and complain, which they refunded me the money and all the deductions stopped.

Now this night I recharged #200 and tried transferring 100 to my main line (cus I want to subscribe for their night plan) but was shocked by the sms I got that I have insufficient balance. I quickly dialed *556# to check my balance but nothing was there.
The customer care rep told to call back tomorrow..That he is sorry bla bla

I know the money is small but this is daylight robbery. Imagine when they do this to about 500k subscribers.

All I want is my airtime back.

This extortions must stop.

Let me just start by asking what on earth is wrong with MTN's customer care that speaks to u directly?? Whatever is happening, any of the agents seeing this should pls respond o. I've noticed that whenever I check my acct balance after some hours of loading my line my account would have been deducted by 50 to 150 naira. Is this cos of the fine they're been asked to pay that they are taking little by little from us. This is robbery and as a stdt I can't afford this for goodness sake. Even if they want to be deducting tithe I won't mind but this amount is too much and unacceptable. And am not even alerted or anything such as subscription for anything, its my call line n I don't browse with it. Can't help but voice out my pain o cos I hardly create topics like this. All my thought was that after subscribing, i would be given double of the data making it 1.5gb cause since last month, have been getting twice of my subscription. Mean that am on mtn beta talk too, i would get #1000 as bonus.
I did the subscription, and decided to check my data balance and to my utmost surprise, i saw 150mb, and 150mb extra data making total data 300mb. I called their customer care center and they were telling me all kindof stories that they will forward it to the appropriate dept. For further processing, that i should call back within 24hrs. The same thing they were all saying after the whole of 24hrs elapsed.

I initially continue using the data with the hope that the remaing data would be restored, then i noticed that the 1000 bonus has gone and they've started deducting from the main data

The long, short, slim and the roburst of it is that my remaining data wasnt restored. I guess this is my first time of falling a scam to mtn data ish. Has anyone also experienced this?
