I subscribed to the new MTN Data plan of 2,000 naira for 3.5gig yesterday. I'm on the Bettertalk plan which gives me triple of every recharge so I got 4,000 naira bonus upon recharge.

I did the subscription while still having the bonus intact. Now according to a Customer Care representative when I enquired sometime ago, I was told that if you subscribe to any data plan on Bettertalk, before your data starts getting deducted they would start deducting from the bonus airtime for any internet-related activity. That is however true from my previous data subscription with MTN when I used to do the 4.5 gig for 2,500 Naira.

For the past 20 hours I have made calls and used the Internet all of which were charged from my 4,000 nara bonus airtime.

Late into the evening, I checked my data balance and I had my full 3.5gig intact and I saw another 700mb for night plan. I disregarded that as system error and went about my own normal business.

I used the Internet for a while and about three hours later, I wanted to see if they had started deducting from my data and Lo! I saw I had 615mb left.

I didn't download. In fact I made sure I didn't download because I wanted to ensure I used a substantial amount of the airtime to make calls.

How on earth did I spend 2.9 gig in three hours?

I called Customer Care and they were quoting some nonsensical thousands of kilobytes that I used.

My phone is telling me otherwise. No matter the difference in the data usage calculations, it shouldn't be that much. Screenshot attached.

This is a huge inconvenience from MTN. 2,000 Naira might be meagre but this is unacceptable.

This is not my first time of subscribing on this phone for different data plans. Why is this different? I am not going to accept this.

I called your customer care and i was told that they can see my subscription has been successful from their end. Whenever i send STATUS TO 21600 to confirm my subscription status, i always get Yello! I had subscribed for the 4.5gb day/night plan and had valid subscription to last 30days. yesterday, however, to my utter annoyance and disappointment, I found that my data had all been taken away for no known reason even though it isn't a month yet. I want mtn to reinstate my data balances back inclusive of compensation for my losses due to inability to use data when I needed to. if in 24hours from now, nothing is done, I will have no choices left other than to make a formal report to NCC and escalate the matter. if you require more information, I will be obliged to supply them as necessary.

I've been using the "Airtel Free Basics" for some weeks now but the problem with it is you can't sign into your NL account. You can only read news & comments while that of Facebook doesn't display pictures. So, I decided to do the MTN N100 daily bundle to drop comments etc.
After subscribing, I got a message that it was successful. So, I turned my data on to enable browsing, immediately I turned it on the whole data was wiped off without usage. I'm just tired of MTN.
What sort of SCAM is thishuh I wasn't even allowed to browse before my data was wiped off.
This SCAM is becoming a norm for MTN
They are fond of deducting my airtime for no reason and when I browse with their line , they deduct both my airtime & data.

The body overseeing these people should do something about it especially MTN.

I am presently witnessing same. I subscribed for day and night plan, i still have 1.8g left in the night plan. But for few days now, i have not been able to use it. Called their customer care thrice, two were jst saying trash, that i should dial *466*1#. Which i have done severally.

The last one said its a general issue, that very soon the problem will be solved. Tho my remaining mb is still visible. I just want to believe the agent, that very soon" it will be resolved. I hope so or else lipsrsealed

only a few days ago, most people who had previously subscribed to the night plan of N2,500 and who still had valid data balances discovered, to their utter consternation and botheration, that their data balances had been wiped out! I was a victim. I had earlier made the subscription on two lines as I needed data to do some necessary work. no form of compensation was offered neither was there any explanations from mtn! such is the impunity of mtn towards Nigerians. I made a complaint here on nairaland (and I observed many people had also made same complaint) but was conveniently ignored by their so-called agents here. even when I called their s.tu.pid and grossly inefficient call center twice all I got was the flimsy excuse that, "mtn no longer offers night data plan"! if mtn no longer offers night plans, then why not refund the balance on what I had earlier subscribed for? why did mtn activate my data plan subscription (night plan) only to suspend it after a few days and turn around to tell me they no longer offer the same plan after collecting 5,000 naira from me?
I am going to write to NCC and make a report and I suggest everyone else who has been treated same way does same too. the impunity and disregard must stop. you can even imagine the rogues sent me a message to subscribe for 750mb for N500 and I just did.....only to be awarded a paltry 150mb! if this isn't financial fraud, then I am at loss as to what it is. I suggest a mass protest against these injustices meted out by mtn to customers to NCC.

Please MTN i assume this is the most unfair treatment given to a customer. Sorry if my message will be too long.
On 06/05/2016 i subscribed for N1000 - 1.5GIG but on recharging the money, i got my normal beta talk bonus, all through while i browsed, the bonus was deducted until exhausted and some part of the data consumed but browsing stopped after a while.
I called on 180 for solution and i was given almost all remedies but to no avail.
I then subscribed for 30MB daily but this also couldn't browse aswell i called on Customer care again no solution. To worsen it, if i activate to browse with my card (*131*202/1) it doesnt still connect either.
Yesterday, i called on 180 again but an agent of yours said because i subscribed for the 30MB i have deactivated the 1.5GIG that it was the cause of the problem. I angrily had to subscribe again for the 1.5GIG for N1000 yesterday. I was also given N2000 bonus par my beta talk. I then started browsing again up till this evening when the bonus got exhausted And it stopped browsing. I called customer care again this evening but i was given some solutions i had gotten before.
Solutions i received included
&Changing of Access point name to web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
&Removing port and I.P
&Dialing *466*1#
&Dialing *131*201#
&Switching off phone for and removing sim for 5mins

Please i uses two mtn sims the other is browsing fine, and have even switched the sims to check if it is my phone problem but it is not as the other sim browses effectively in either sim port.

This thing has really kept me stuck because i am a student and using almost all my allowance for data is not fair. I have spent N2100 on dat in the past four days but cant browse. Please even if it is a refund of my money, i will appreciate. Thanks.
