Also the restriction of other third-party applications from the Blackberry App World was their major undoing. How can you explain the fact that one cannot use in-demand applications such as Instagram, Keek and even Skype (until it featured in BB10). If it was possible, Whatsapp too wouldn't have been on BB. BB shot themselves in the foot by making everything exclusive to only BB users. Now, they decide to share the once exclusive BBM on Google Play and iStore ( a move which is coming very late). |
It is so obvious Blackberry can't cope with the market forces anymore, the likes of Google's Android, Samsung Tablets, Apple and other has so much infiltrated the market that the only county they seem to still have a stronghold is in their native Canada. They have lost the Asian market, the American market long time ago and even the Nigerian market. Gone are those days when Nigerians craved for BB.. Now most people have thrown their BB phones away. So it is just natural they sell a substantial percentage to maybe Google.. |
BlackBerry has put itself up for sale in the hope a new owner might help it turn around its struggling smartphone business. The Canadian company said it had formed a special board committee to examine its options. As well as a sell-off, it will look into whether strategic partnerships or joint ventures could also help speed up adoption of its new BlackBerry 10 operating system. It was released earlier this year alongside new devices but has made little impact in a smartphone market dominated by Apple's iPhone and handsets based on Google's Android software. BlackBerry: the 'for sale' statement in full "Given the importance and strength of our technology, and the evolving industry and competitive landscape, we believe that now is the right time to explore strategic alternatives," said Timothy Dattels, chairman of the special committee. BlackBerry shares were suspended in New York ahead of the announcement, but later reopened to rise 9.4pc in pre-market trading in New York. It follows a report last week that the board were increasingly open to a private equity buyer. Prem Watsa, the chairman of the BlackBerry's biggest shareholder, Fairfax Financial, a Toronto-base private equity funder, resigned from the board. He said he supported the plan but potential conflicts of interest made it appropriate to step down. Fairfax could emerge as a potential buyer as any foreign buyer of BlackBerry would face close scrutiny from the Canadian government, which views the company as a national champion and national security asset. Its devices and smartphones remain popular with governments around the world for their enhanced security features. BlackBerry chief executive Thorsten Heins said: "We continue to see compelling long-term opportunities for BlackBerry 10, we have exceptional technology that customers are embracing, we have a strong balance sheet and we are pleased with the progress that has been made in our transition. JP Morgan has been brought in to advise the special committee as it seeks a deal. Source: http://jimcaddy..com/2013/08/blackberry-buckles-under-immense.html |
Is it possible to do a Masters directly with a Third Class degree? Because I keep hearing people talking of Masters after Third Class |
Nigerian ladies are selective when it comes to names.. Imagine names like Aderupokor, Adimeru, Ingidi, Mukaila, and the list goes on. Naija babes like Behind names ehn like Williams, Earl, Shawn, Joe etc.. But truth be told, names don't matter, attitude does. |

Of course am not surprised.. Chelsea = Agberos.. From players to fans (Home and Abroad) and even Manager too.. Can't you be accommodating?? Am sure the Man Utd fan was just taunting Chelsea, and rightfully so because Man Utd is, and will ALWAYS be better than Chelsea with or without Fergie.. (No one should attack me ooo.. Na joke) |
It seems Seun Osewa and all the other moderators no longer filter out foul languages on NL again, as I see so many of 'unprintable' words on threads these days. |
Very interesting piece from the OP.. It's not easy for people living with sickle-cell.. But I believe with God, everything is possible.. Nothing too big for God to handle. |

I guess the God factor is very necessary in this world we live in.. No matter your past, no matter ur atrocities.. When God calls you to serve, you have to heed that calling.. Weldone Pastor T. |
I thought them Dangote drivers are graduates, some even up to PhD level.. A slap on Nigerian graduates.. A slap on the Federal Government. And the funny thing is that the FG can't do anything about the spate of Dangote-truck-induced road accidents. You can't bite the finger that feeds you |
Nothing wrong in buying a car for you child.. Infact, every one needs a car as a matter of urgent necessity. Gone are those days when car was a 'luxury' item.. So sad some parents still have the mindset of the 70's and 80's |

The reason why there are a lot of hidden posts is that some fools want to start criticizing the man of God even as he has passed on.. Nigerians and their judgemental attitude |
toluene12: it's cheaper in india - around #4 million both for the transplant and immunosupppresive drugs. renal transplant is performed in some of our govt hospitals but i'm not sure of its success rate. st nicholas has a well established renal unit and has performed over 100 renal transplants, but their charge is expensive - #10 million or there about.as at 2008, Saint Nicholas was like around 4-6 million Naira.. I don't think it is up to 10 million as you put it. Saint Nicholas have world class facilities. Going to India is long journey.. |
Well it is a nice gesture.. Let me digress a bit. Kidney transplant can be done in Nigeria instead of going to India or the UK. Like the OAU Teaching Hospital can do a kidney transplant.. But in Lagos there is a private hospital that has done, and is capable to do a kidney transplant successfully. Saint Nicholas Hospital in Lagos Island. I recommend that to any Nigerian who needs to undergo one. India and UK hospitals are very expensive. |
I just want to use this medium to find out why kidney problem is becoming very common among Nigerians. Look at OJB for example.. And there are so many people who undergo dialysis daily or twice weekly, as the case maybe, just to survive. Just go to LUTH and see for yourself, or better still go to the Dialysis Unit of Saint Nicholas Hospital in Lagos Island to see the number of people who practically queue to undergo dialysis. I want a doctor in the house to shed more light on why it is this common in this part of the world, and how we can take precautionary measure to avert kidney problem.. Believe me, no one would like to go through a kidney problem. It is terrible. |
Seriously, I think cats now have a way to make a dog like it.. In my house, my dog and a cat sleeps in the same shed, and eat together. The dog doesn't do anything.. It allows it.. So I think they have developed a sort of understanding between themselves |
Great topic.. I have always wondered myself, though I own a blog too, but in as much as I try to refrain from so called 'juicy' entertainment stories, I have noticed that Nigerians are not really into something very 'serious'. They won't read something serious, they prefer unserious ones like "Tonto Dike Goes To The Toilet" and "Jim Iyke Slaps Nadia Buhari".. It is a Nigerian thing.. You have to go along with what they want.. Most of my posts are very serious topics about all happening in Nigeria, whether positive and Negative.. I am more of the News in Nigeria, not celebrity gossip, but I can't still do without posting them once in a while to capture a certain audience. We have to live with it, unfortunately. http://jimcaddy..com |
The daftness of some people comes to limelight when they analyse soccer. I just love the viewing centre for this. |
A Spanish court has summoned FC Barcelona and Argentina football super star, Lionel Messi to appear before it over allegations of tax evasion. Lionel Messi and his father Jorge have been summoned to appear in court on September 17 in order to provide evidence against recent tax fraud allegations. A complaint, signed by prosecutor Raquel Amado, was filed with the courthouse in the Gava district of Barcelona last week and it has now been decided that there is enough evidence to summon the Argentine. The Spanish tax authorities claim that the prolific attacker and his father have avoided paying the charges due from sales of the 25-year-old's image rights by operating through companies based outside of the country, totalling over €4 million between 2006 and 2009. Messi stressed last week that he is innocent and unaware of committing any infringements. "We have learned through the media about the claim filed by the Spanish tax authorities. We are surprised about this news, because we have not committed any infringement," a statement from the 25-year-old read. "We have always fulfilled all of our tax obligations, following the advice of our tax consultants, who will take care of clarifying this situation." The attacker's fiscal and legal advisor Angel Juarez, meanwhile, insisted that they had not heard anything yet when the news broke last week, while adding that they were ready for any legal battle. "Neither we nor our client have received any notification from the prosecutor in relation to what has been reported," a statement signed by Juarez read. "As his legal and fiscal council, we will take all the appropriate legal action against the complaint of the prosecutor and we are confident that justice will prevail." Messi's camp is yet to react to the latest developments yet. Under Spanish law, Messi could face a maximum penalty of six years in prison if found guilty Source: http://www.jimcaddy..com/2013/06/breaking-news-spanish-court-summons.html |
It is such a shame. I won't blame theses Universities at all. When the system requires u have a minimum of 2.1 and 2.2 before you can get a job, people will try and beat the stupid system. The whole thing is a systemic failure. And it is so sad to know that nothing can be done about it. What of those that went scot-free, and are working in top places?? We can't do anything about it.. Let us look and look.. |

This topic is very controversial and will continue to be a topic that generates heated debates and counter arguments. I feel it is not right, but let us remove religion, I feel they have a right to be with who ever they want to be with. Life is by choice not by force.. We shall all die one day and go and meet our Creator for judgement on how we lived our lives here on earth. So I feel the National Assembly should just let them be. |
