if u have just an iota of sense, u would know that US built majority of it's infrastructures in the 19th & early 20th century and many of them are crumbling, many are in disrepair. Ordinary water supply to citizens, esp in rural areas in China is higher than in US.

China began to build massive infrastructures since the 60's till today, they're still building, yet population (ur excuse) has dropped to the barest minimum. China's high-speed rail network is more than 2/3 of world's HSR's network, don't even get me started on transport system. US is only banking on ageing, derelict infrastructures while china is continually building new ones at a faster rate than the US.

Hunter, US infrastructure was great but it's crumbled due to disrepair - it very likely to find potholes in some US inner roads than even in RSA, water pipes are leaking, sewage system broken, the railway is more a relic, name it, it's old and crumbling. Infrastructure need to be maintained and or even replaced. For instance most roads have 20yr life span. That is why the idea that country cannot overtake another is ridiculous.

Per capita - China is not yet there - but as total infrastructure - it already overtaken nearly combine US+EU. They are closing the gap per capita because they are massively investing on closing the infrastructure gap with developed countries. You can bet by 2030 - China will be as developed as any country.

it like saying Nigeria is richer and better than Kenya simply because of their massive GDP.

Infrastructure indexes rate the quality, access and efficiency of infrastructure..... Not how much of it is there....
