Mkenya2019:
Don't be cryptic. Read what?

Meanwhile your school drop out rate is not shocking - it's explain why your country is a middle class trap.

https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/content/south-africa-children-school-drop-out-covid-19/
According to a recent report by South Africa's National Income Dynamics Study - Coronavirus Rapid Mobile (NIDS-CRAM), an estimated 750,000 school children in the country may have dropped out a result of the pandemic. This a vast increase from the pre-pandemic figure of 230,000, and a significant jump from the 300,000 primary school children that were reported absent seven months ago.
I guess that's a no wink since if you read it properly that only selected students were actually taken into account not the entire primary school population, also the transition rate was 98% not a 100% for the specifically selected students.

Mkenya2019:
The source I have is that Kenya gov started 100 percent transition policy in 2018. We did 83 percent in 2018 - then jumped to 97 percent in 2019 - 2020 is lost year - kids stayed home - in 2021 we have done 98 percent joining secondary (of 1.17m who sat for final primary exam) - and two percent were accounted for - some joined TIVET(vocational colleges) while others died or repeated.

When will RSA get here?

“We have managed to account for 100 per cent of the 1,171,265 candidates who were selected to join Form One,” he said.

Magoha in a statement issued indicated that 1,129,637 have been placed in Form one in public and private schools with some 2,658 having registered to re-sit the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Examination.

“Some 11,213 have joined TVET while 1,193 either moved away from their homes or are deceased,” Magoha said, reiterating that the data clearly indicates successful transition policy.
OK so did you read it properly now??

Kenya achieved 100 percent primary to secondary transition..1st in Africa.. without double track nonsense. We have simply invested in more school...not having kids alternate like Ghana bonobos https://www.kenyanews.go.ke/govt-keen-on-100-pc-school-transition/

Man you're stuck with that projection - like it will pan out exactly like that. Your economy is going down - last decade was pretty much lost - we are 2022 - and with COVID hitting your economy even harder - I think we are staring at another lost decade. Look like Ramaphosa has no magic wand to wave.

Me thinks 2030 - we will be almost level smiley Kenya GDP will be 330B; South Africa will be anywhere around there;

Read more about Middle Income Trap and Latin America..

The middle income trap is an economic development situation in which a country that attains a certain income gets stuck at that level.
the JSE hit record highs, our economy grew more than expected in the first 2 quarters of this year, 4 out of SAs 8 metros including all of the Gauteng metros are run by the DA, ANC under 50%......my bru SAs is only going to get better from now on grin grin grin

You cant unless you want to go back to pariah state of the 1980s. The world is interconnected - you will not manage to get any funding for any coal related project - and anybody touching you - will be punished - by world financial systems.

Kenya wanted to do 1,000mw plant using south africa coal - it got into serious environmental headwinds. Nobody touching anything with coal or dirty fuel anytime soon.
its called tong in cheek speak..... Obviously we can't use the 9 billion to fund coal projects.... However I fully support the building of more coal stations and South Africa will certainly not move from coal any time soon

You wish. Joburg got stuck the last decade and two - and I dont see any recover in sight. Many Asian cities were behind Joburg - but in two decades they have left you gasping for air. And Nairobi is breathing down your neck.

This an example of growing city in rapidly growing coutry that has shown south africa dust. You country will become a relic - at best - but as economy cannot meet the population demands - it may regress into a slum.

cool story bro.... But let me know once Kenya has caught Joburg in terms of wealth, road network, rail network, retail space ect ect ect

You're inventing terms now - "Sheer economic size" means what. According to IMF estimate - Kenya will be around 110B end of the year; South Africa will be 330B smiley. Cool story bro. 10yrs ago...it was like 40B versus 400B. Cool story bro.
South Africa has rebased its economy.... The actual nominal GDP is now $370 billion however it is accepted by all economist that GDP ppp is a better way of comparing countries

And "sheer economic size" isn't a term just an English sentence

Also where is Kenya in 30 years from now? Never mind 10 years:

No, I am not aware. I am only aware that 1/4 of all skyscrappers in entire africa, are being constructed in Nairobi. I am also aware that in medium term will be putting up 0.5M housing units in the affordable housing. I am also aware of road constructions project in Nairobi currently under construction exceeding 2B dollars.

Most importantly I know Nairobi has been ranked 4th Most Dynamic City in the world (Dynamic=fast changing) - only one in Africa to make the list - amongst a bunch of fast rising Asian cities.

And despite being under construction - Nairobi is highly ranked.
yes.....dynamic....to bad that means nothing since the majority of the so called most dynamic cities rank ridiculously low in terms of QOL

Nairobi is a big construction site. Other kenya cities are also rapidly expanding.

What we need is open dialogue between citizens and the medical experts. Cause there's been a lot of censorship of information and this is what's leading to the increase in vaccine hesitance. Let the people air our their views and concerns and let these be addressed by the experts. This is what has been done before for diseases such as AIDS and that's why the numbers of those affected has reduced significantly.
agreed

What's your take on this pandemic. Do you believe these measures are really necessary for a disease with such a high survival rate. I'm asking this because I know you own several businesses.

Personally I think the government should have a sit-down with the business community and figure a way out. Cause the addition of all this new mandates is doing no good.
the measures put in place by governments around the world have been total over kill and destroyed tge livelihoods of millions..... I was very critical of our own government for these lock downs but they are actually child's play vs those in Europe, Australia, ext ext.

However as someone that lost an uncle to covid I do urge everyone to look after themselves and to get vaxed.

A good example is the proposed Mashujaa Museum currently being established by the National Museums of Kenya in collaboration with other state agencies at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi County.

A historical monument at Uhuru Gardens.
A historical monument at Uhuru Gardens.
NMK noted that the purpose of the museum would be to act as an archive of Kenya's history since 1800. This will span the early history and peoples of Kenya, colonization, independence, warfare, and development over the years.

The entrance to the museum will capture a patriotic feeling as Kenyan flags will be raised high on both sides alongside the coat of arms.

Inside, the museum will depict the culture and history of Kenya with portraits of heroes such as former President Jomo Kenyatta, Tom Mboya, environmentalist Wangari Maathai and freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi.

Portraits and artifacts showing Kenyans' struggle for independence will also be displayed in various sections. Others include photographs, films, unique literature, writings, maps, traditional weaponry, and musical instruments.

Further, in order to appreciate culture, photos of different types of wildlife, primarily the big five, will also be on display.

Other sections will include a library, souvenir shop, and a stone artifact showing the first stanza of the national anthem in both English and Swahili.

NMK had recently appealed to individuals in possession of materials of historical significance to donate to the proposed museum.
